Again, I will express my admiration for your relationship. You treat (at least on camera) each other with dignity and respect as well as affection. I choose to believe it is genuine.
I remember noticing that early on in my binge-watching.. so you've been doing this almost from the beginning, Kika? I was thinking at the time what a clever touch that was.. should have said something then.
Great video! Thanks for sharing with us, great that the outboard's opened up areas to explore! Thanks again for bringing us on the adventure - I can only imagine how much effort it took to produce these videos - the sound, pacing everything is great!
First, a windless. Now, a motor for the dinghy. Next, an Amel 55. It's sure is nice being a 1%'er. LOL!!! Great work and continue living my dream. Fair winds!
Yeah DAN, no more Armstrong outboard! Great fellow that Mercury, fleet of foot, and a great outboard too! lol lol! Best of luck with the outboard, the key words are, FRESH FUEL! Now Kiki you Need to get the info on how to run the Mercury. Never can tell in an emergency, hope never you two get hurt or something. Fair winds, great seas, much fun, great love, to you two!
Good to go back and watch one of your older videos. You have come so far. Not that you were in a bad place, still good, just thinking of your new dingy and new motor. AND, now, your new electric sail motor.
Haha, so love the baby banana sandwich creation! It reminds me of my time in Dominica with all the ripe exotic fruits. USCG Master Captain, PADI MSDT Instructor.
Yes. You two are crazy amazing! What over reaching optimism to buy a boat most of us would say was ready for the boat bone yard. To fix it into a sea worthy vessel and then continue forward and go out adventuring into the wild blue-sea yonder!!!!! WOW!
Hi I’ve been watching your videos and trying to catch up to your present day circumstances. I’m still years away. I’m enjoying most if not all of your editing. I noticed the volume transition from underwater to surface. That was a good one! Hope to see and enjoy more editing effects in the future. Take care see you soon. If it wasn’t for this sofa I would be sailing! Sofas have a lot of answering to do!!
I have a dinghy with a sail kit and electric motor (with a solar panel to keep it up while it just sits there). Dinghy SAIL KITS are KING! Don't forget the sideboards and I made a rudder and attached it on the bottom of my electric motor so when sailing, I raise the motor (reducing drag) and just use the rudder. I also use a tiller extender. Humm, should put up a video.
Watch that you don't get fat now that you don't have to row! Lol I have been watching your videos for about a year now and thoroughly enjoy them, keep 'em coming!!
Congrats on the new Merc! Always get a kick out of how excited you guys get sailing fast! Another great video! Keep 'em coming. Fantastic snorkeling footage too... For only a few seconds I was shocked at how many different fish you were able to see. Cheers!
Looks like so much fun! Still trying to catch up to the current videos but enjoying each step! Glad you got the dingy motor, I got tired looking at you rowing!
Your filming is really great. I watch these to keep my own dream alive and you give your productions a nice mix of culture and adventure and accomplishment. inspiring.
Thanks guys, Dan you made me laugh this morning?. Reminded me of a kid with his first car and nobody watching? Donuts in the dingy lol....cheers off to work I go ,have a great Friday:-)...
I was hugely skeptical of port-a-boats until I started watching your channel some time ago. Now I think, I definitely want a port-a-boat for my sailboat when I have one some day. Even if it just sits tied to the top of the davits holding my regular tender.
Banana on bread then you fold it , then W hamo you splat !!!! 😂😂😂 That was funny. I learned something today and I'm going to try it. Safe travels to yall.
This is one of your best episodes. Edited well. Interesting the whole way through. Contained a piece of everything: sailing, marine life, travel issues, local history, etc. Delightful camera work with the leaf. More of this.
Thank you for sharing, Glad you have a dinghy motor, So sewing machine is next. Thank you again for all your great vids, I am sure I have seen them all and look forward to more, Terry
i love Grenada glad to see you guys get there i got so excited to see Grenada. i used to use that gym. this is awesome. Maurice bishop was killed on that basketball court. really love this step.
If you're still In carriacoo look for an old double ender named Venus. Brilliant old sailor Johnson lives aboard, he'd have some great stories for you.
I was wondering about your range under motor as I am assuming you are planning on going through the Panama Canal Will you hire or borrow a generator to extend your range for the trip or maybe buy a dinghy load of Duracells?
Enjoyed the video a lot. Thanks for sharing! We have followed you since almost the beginning and love your channel. Greetings from a sailing family (currently sailing in Portugal)
Now be smart lol. When loading and unloading it onboard, add a rope tied to the boat just in case it, or you slip and it goes over the side. Will save a difficult dive and a lot of trouble.
My sister had a cat in Grenada so I spent 2 weeks most years in the 90's down there. I remember imported goods were very expensive so I'm guessing that Merc cost a fortune. Locking the motor to the boat in neutral should keep the less determined teefs away! Have you solved the sinking dinghy problem when it rains? Hate to see it have a saltwater bath. I was just noticing the beginnings of "handles" on Dan and then the old motor became FUBAR and I said to myself, "just in time." Luckily, you guys are sailors and expend enough energy just existing to control your weight. Actually Dan, you look damned good regardless of age as does Kika, who also does a brilliant job of music and sound FX and video editing, and banana smashwiches. Back in the 90's most cruisers in Grenada went to Trinny to buy stuff or get shit fixed. The water at the marina was the same price as diesel!
You guys should have been just able to check into tyrell bay and clear for the lower Grenadines without having to go into town and doing all of the legwork. We were told the same thing until last minute when we pulled in and figured out we can handle everything right there. I really hope you guys did not get hustled. St Lucia is another one of those places where they kind of like to hustle you for paperwork.
Thrilled that you guys got an outboard. Awesome. Have fun with it. Might I suggest a mount on the back of the sailboat. A lifting dinghy mount so the motor can serve as backup to the electric motor?
Yeap. Was thinking the same. Granted UMA would be as slow as molasses in January with only 5 HP to push her, but better than nothing and you guys are never in a hurry anyway.
And the lady she hails from Trinidad (not far from Grenada) Island of the spices Salt for your meat, and cinnamon sweet And the rum is for all your good vices Haul the sheet in as we ride on the wind That our forefathers harnessed before us Hear the bells ring as the tight rigging sings Its a son of a gun of a chorus
There's nothing wrong with old outboard so long as you don't give them saltwater baths! lol That's pretty hard on any outboard old or new. Also thinking of safety wise do you keep a handheld VHF or any flares with you in the dinghy? Also I notice the floatation foam is gone, do you guys bring life jackets ect when going long distance in the dinghy?
Great video! Congrats on the new motor, that should help a lot! Where are you located today-10/12/2017 ( I mean your current on video release)? Sailing Dijan
Sorry you guys can't venture a little south to Trinidad and Tobago for some "doubles" with slight peeper...soon the government will be streamlining procedures to make it more user friendly for visiting yachties. Enjoy the adventure.
Love the videos as always! And thank you for keeping us informed during the storms! From past experience make sure you pick up a couple impellers for that Merc. I've had a couple brand new out of the box that fail, with just the smallest amount of sand/ or gritty seaweed that gets sucked into the intake journals. Its easy to change, but its still a pain. Also watch for prop strikes. For whatever reason those motors are prone to stripping the brass worm gear in forward. I have tried to source just the gears themselves but have had no luck finding them even from a dealer on the mainland. Its a whole lower unit from the power head down or else. Other than that they are pretty reliable! Much love. See y'all on the water very soon!
Again, I will express my admiration for your relationship. You treat (at least on camera) each other with dignity and respect as well as affection. I choose to believe it is genuine.
Thanks for showing Grenada and Carriacou some love. You drove past my grandmothers house - I can almost hear her beautiful voice.
Love when you muffle the music when we head underwater and clear it when we come up! 🐟
I love it when someone notices those little details. thanks for watching :)
so glad you commented! I was about to. so cool. love the attention to detail guys! keep it up
I remember noticing that early on in my binge-watching.. so you've been doing this almost from the beginning, Kika? I was thinking at the time what a clever touch that was.. should have said something then.
Glad you got an outboard...FINALLY!!!!!!!
+Dan Keep the oars in the dinghy. You have been around boats enough to know the value of redundancy.
Great video! Thanks for sharing with us, great that the outboard's opened up areas to explore! Thanks again for bringing us on the adventure - I can only imagine how much effort it took to produce these videos - the sound, pacing everything is great!
Thanks for sharing! Top notch editing! Nice touch with the transition of background music when going from night to morning!
The banana sandwiches are good with peanut butter and avocado. It also helps to slice the bananas
Yes. You two are crazy amazing! What over reaching optimism to buy a boat most of us would say was ready for the boat bone yard. To fix it into a sea worthy vessel and then continue forward and go out adventuring into the wild blue-sea yonder!!!!! WOW!
We are glad you now have an outboard motor for your dinghy. Great music....

OMG yes! a sail kit for the dinghy would be amazing!!!!!!
Watch that you don't get fat now that you don't have to row! Lol I have been watching your videos for about a year now and thoroughly enjoy them, keep 'em coming!!
😂😂😂😂
You nearly didn't earn my thumb up with this video until I saw the sophisticated technique to make a banana sandwich. That rescued your thumb.
sailed frew a sea of pumas for 3 days spewed up from an underwater volcano on my way to Tonga from NZ, amazing site.
Anther great video, you two are becoming naturals and very relaxed in front of the cameras.
Congrats on the new Merc! Always get a kick out of how excited you guys get sailing fast! Another great video! Keep 'em coming. Fantastic snorkeling footage too... For only a few seconds I was shocked at how many different fish you were able to see. Cheers!
haha fast yet comfortable is fine, beyond that it's just not necessary. Oh yea, there was soooo much life near those rocks, we were amazed!
Looks like you went a bit dinghy with your new dinghy... motor. Congrats!
Love the OutBoard.....!!!!!!!
The gym is for the RGPF, Fort George is an active barracks. (FYI😁)
your life sailing will improve radically with your new outboard, congrats
Pleased that you have an outboard motor and remember to put a chain with a padlock to prevent it being stolen, good video guys, have a great day
Very cool to see the outboard! Also, the freshwater system is a great idea.
Wonderful.
Banana sandwich with honey is also very tasty Kika. Thx for the video.
Congratulations on the dinghy motor! Enjoy spending that energy in other ways! As always great step! #LoveSailingUma 💝
Looks like so much fun! Still trying to catch up to the current videos but enjoying each step! Glad you got the dingy motor, I got tired looking at you rowing!
Your filming is really great. I watch these to keep my own dream alive and you give your productions a nice mix of culture and adventure and accomplishment. inspiring.
Your youtubes keep getting better. Keep having fun.
Thanks guys, Dan you made me laugh this morning?. Reminded me of a kid with his first car and nobody watching? Donuts in the dingy lol....cheers off to work I go ,have a great Friday:-)...
2 stroke, way to go!
Glad you bought the new one. Like the 2 cycle light weight.
Just wanted you guys to know how much I enjoy your videos! Keep them coming! :D
I was hugely skeptical of port-a-boats until I started watching your channel some time ago. Now I think, I definitely want a port-a-boat for my sailboat when I have one some day. Even if it just sits tied to the top of the davits holding my regular tender.
Yup thats a lot of power for a small origami set. cool one. Hope you can get some sail repairs.
Banana on bread then you fold it , then W hamo you splat !!!! 😂😂😂 That was funny. I learned something today and I'm going to try it. Safe travels to yall.
I've been binge watching since Saturday I am so enjoying you guys. Safe sails from one of your new subscriber's
This is one of your best episodes. Edited well. Interesting the whole way through. Contained a piece of everything: sailing, marine life, travel issues, local history, etc. Delightful camera work with the leaf. More of this.
That's exactly what I was thinking
So hooked! Binge watching!
We enjoyed your tour once again, and congrats on the new motor, you will love it. Safe travels.
Glad to see you finally got the outboard! Congrats. Now bummer sails need work. Ying and the Yang :( Fair Winds & Cheers!
Loved this video guys! The banana sandwich was too good 🤣 And congrats on your outboard!
Banana sandwich.... splat pack... got me totally off guard.... had to laugh out loud all by myself
Thank you for sharing, Glad you have a dinghy motor, So sewing machine is next. Thank you again for all your great vids, I am sure I have seen them all and look forward to more,

We actually borrowed that sewing machine while in Grenada, but we are waiting to head back to the states to get our own.
SMASH .... Banana Sandwich !!! Loved it!
OMG your banana splat sandwich had me in stitches. Bwahahahahah....

I want to be that excited about an outboard :)
Love the new outboard, you two are really going to like having that!
Another great video, thanks for sharing the Visa headaches, good to know.
Love the making a banana sandwich technique !!
i love Grenada glad to see you guys get there i got so excited to see Grenada. i used to use that gym. this is awesome. Maurice bishop was killed on that basketball court. really love this step.
that gym was where i developed a chest and experienced my first Leg day.
banana and peanut butter sandwich that works even better
Never seen that preparation method. I will be using it in the future though.
Love your videos keep up great work
You guys are the first sailing channel to not sail over that volcano that I have watched.
If you're still In carriacoo look for an old double ender named Venus. Brilliant old sailor Johnson lives aboard, he'd have some great stories for you.
Be sure the motor is tight to the boat If possible put a bolt in the Transom
It's exactly the same outboard motor I have on my dinghy.
It's a little too heavy, for being only a 5 HP motor, but you will be very happy with it :)
Keep up the great vids guys
All you need now is for your BOAT MOTOR to work now....looking forward to see how you guys solve that problem.
I was wondering about your range under motor as I am assuming you are planning on going through the Panama Canal Will you hire or borrow a generator to extend your range for the trip or maybe buy a dinghy load of Duracells?
That banana sandwich was amazing ;-))
Enjoyed the video a lot. Thanks for sharing! We have followed you since almost the beginning and love your channel. Greetings from a sailing family (currently sailing in Portugal)
Great video, loving the 5 hp Mercury 👍 To bad about the Genoa ripping up😣
No bananas were harmed in this episode 🍌😜
And they can come of so put a lanyard on it as it can hit your head🍀
Now be smart lol. When loading and unloading it onboard, add a rope tied to the boat just in case it, or you slip and it goes over the side. Will save a difficult dive and a lot of trouble.

Need a bit of peanut butter to that there banana sandwich... It is to the banana sandwich, like frosting in to cake!!!! LOL
Awesome episode!
Yes , finally a motor . Wahoo
and old seagull would have been great. now that fast but very reliable
You guys should have been just able to check into tyrell bay and clear for the lower Grenadines without having to go into town and doing all of the legwork. its needing a visa as a haitian passport holder that makes things difficult.
Sailing Uma We were wondering about that?
Damn you murdered that banana!
Oh I hope you share info about the sewing machine. Cheers! ~M

Kika please make more in depth tour of the islands and countries. We mostly see you on the water
Edwin S. It’s a sailing channel not a travel channel they are supposed to be on the water
Mr stupid
Oh, nice Seiko SKX173 - didn't notice it before. Sorry, watch nerd. Nice video, too!

Puny banana, Kika SMASH!!! Woot!
Love it and guess I am not buying that dingy motor...hmmm Auto nav wind vane?
Best part ? Kika's banana sandwich 😄
Fantastic,
Thanks for the fishy shots dont forget the oars!!
Great video! Congrats on the new motor, that should help a lot! Where are you located today-10/12/2017 ( I mean your current on video release)? Sailing Dijan
We are in Curacao
that fort you visited is a Star Fort...
You showed sail repair with the new sewing machine. What brand/model machine was it? And did it handle the sails OK? Thanks! Enjoy your videos!
Dave Overton it looked like the sailrite LSZ-1 walking foot sewing machine.

Thanks So Much!
How munch was the motor? Is it a better deal there then in the states?

Do they really have a worm and wheel in the lower unit instead of a pair of bevel gears?
I guess technically they are beveled so it can shift from fwd to Reverse, but its the same principle. They are weak and prone to prop strike.
