If you didn't know, when fastening large panels like the front hatch, start screwing at the center and work towards the corners, doing so allows for a better seal by allowing the panel to seat tightly against the mating surface. If you start in the corners it can bow up in the center.

You can use acrylic solvent / cement to repair cracks in acrylic. Make sure it is water thin, then apply a small amount directly on the crack. You will see it wick into the crack. If you get it anywhere else it will smudge the acrylic so be careful. Use an eye dropper if you can to minimize excess. I have repaired acrylic aquariums this way so your hatch should be fine.

When it comes to re-repairing things on a boat or anywhere it's amazing how much we learn from the mistakes we made the first time around or the second time or third time around as long as we keep learning the better we are ... Even at my age, I learn something new everyday... Praying for you kids think I will keep blessing you kids as you travel and get to see the creation you made for us to enjoy be blessed... BBE 👍👍🤗🤗

Wow..that took me past memory lane on my old boat I had for over 20 years. Fixing leaks and rebedding portholes and windows was a bi-yearly job at the least. Great job, you guys. BTW..I think now that butyl tape (the good one, not the Amazon one) does a better job than Sika or silicones, plus much easier to take off and cut out the extra. Happy Birthday Kika.

( Sorry about your bow pulpit, step 68) Mine got banged up in a storm when My Hunter 31 went on a walk about into a private dock... I'm just down from Nanaimo in Friday Harbor. So many interesting video titles I've seen scanning through. Great job on the windless..I'm so happy with the way mine turned out also ...It was at least a months work for me... Gary G.T. One trick with the acrylic is to drill the holes slightly too big for the screws since it expands with temperature. That helps with the cracking!

Look at GE Silpruf SCS2000 with +/- 50% movement. This is used in skyscraper windows due to the difference in expansion coefficients between acrylic and aluminum. You must also size the acrylic to this temperature expansion to the frame. Very important. The acrylic must be sized to offset this differential with the sealant because it varies so much from the aluminum. It basically has to be embedded in quite a bit of silicon and should not be touching aluminum. Quite a pain to embed but works.

Not well known is that you can thin silicon sealant with mineral turpentine and then using a squeegee bottle run it into cracks and fissures that leak. Need to stir it for several minutes until it eventually dissolves. Turps dries out over ~ 24hrs leaving thin skin of silastic which cures off with water vapour in the air. Other thing for fixing leaks is buy an automotive ultrasonic leak detector comprising small battery driven transmitter on the inside and using the receiver go around the joint on the outside to pinpoint any leaks. Bought one 20 years ago and should be still available. About $100 then I recall. Sail safe.

I have one thing to mention when sealing port lights: use Butyl Rubber. It will fill any gaps and stay flexible forever.
I am looking forward to seeing your SS hand rails. I have toyed with this idea for a long time, but have never wanted to spend the money. One question, though: If you can't get 316 there, where are you getting the hand rails fabricated? I guess I'll have to wait for the next video to find out.

You can be quite happy that this acrylic glass sheet had been available and not polycarbonate (lexan, makrolon). Acrylic glass is much better UV resitant, PC turns yellow or starts to crease (the general purpose PC). For the sealing/bonding you better use Teroson MS 939 next time - nothing else, no Sika stuff!
The side rails, OMG - I have to do the same this year on my boat. I hope I wont get any bad surprises. Does you boat have any drainage spots inside of the side rails? I have always patches of water on the deck which can't flow off properly.
    Cheers!
