AUSSIE Mega Run - Delirious WEST 200 Mile Ultra Marathon Race 2019 - Long Form Documentary

  • This was the inaugural event held in southwestern Australia. I had no idea how this event would play out as it was farther than I had ever traveled for a race. This video covers the whole race in long format - about the same length as a Joe Rogan Experience episode.
This is the fourth 200 miler I have run the first year it was offered and then made a video to document.
To support content creators who make videos like this, please consider subscribing to my channel and giving it a thumbs up. If you want to support further, please consider donating to my Patreon account / kerryward
The Aussies welcomed runners from all over and made us feel welcome. You can learn more at the event web site here: deliriouswest20...
Grab some popcorn and electrolyte drink. Get on the treadmill. Fire up the big screen. Put this on the secondary monitor. Once you watch it, you'll know WAY more than I did heading out to Perth to actually run the event.
And be sure to comment and share - particularly if you endure the entire video.

man this style of documentary feels much more real and entertaining too. none of that annoying music , jumpcuts and fancy drone shots.

4 hours to the premiere. But it still hasn't finished processing. I'm afraid that this won't be done by then. It has been 'processing' for more than 30 hours. I really hope I don't have to restart this whole thing all over again... IF the video doesn't start come premiere time, it will be because youtube is having issues getting this massive video handled.

    • @FullTiltWard

After 38 hours of processing it finished all of a sudden. Started the Premiere a bit more than 2 hours late. But glad it is done. an public.

Thank you Kerry for this video! I live in Perth and I had no idea this event existed. After I saw it I took a massive leap out of my comfort zone and volunteered!! What I found was an amazing bunch of people doing amazing things. From the absolutely amazing volunteers I met helping out at aid stations, the organisers who helped me out so much when I had issues, and the amazing competitors and their crews. An amazing, inspiring few days I wont forget!

Thanks Kerry for the long videos on Ultras. The net for me is that they have put the bug into me to extend my marathon career into ultras. I did my first 50K last weekend and I have a 50 miler the weekend after I run Boston this April.. Keep running, keep filming, keep posting.. you are impacting more people than you could imagine!

Your ability to connect within this environment is incredible. I've watched each of your races a few times and it's a noteworthy feature in your videos that only very few others can capture....and thank you for that effort. I know the community has that feature but you're a great ambassador and recruiter for the sport whether you're intentionally trying to be or not.

@@FullTiltWard it does have a good ring to it, you have the relationships to make it happen, the position just needs a vision for outreach and some networking partnerships between the different circuits and it could be a great opportunity. Hi Kerry. I’ve watched many of your videos and loved that you were here down under. As a 66 yr old I hadn’t run but through the years tramped and biked and in the last 6 years I’ve dropped 30kg and been working out with weights. My PR suggested a half marathon which I managed in August and then just last weekend on my 67th birthday I did the Tussock Traverse from the Desert Rd to the Chateau Hotel between Mt Ruapehu and Mt Tongariro in New Zealand where I live. A mission in heat no breeze for first 10km. Completed. I’m so thankful to you for inspiring me as I trained. I look forward to more videos of places I’ll never go. Keep up the encouraging work. 👍🙌🏻

Thoroughly enjoyed your story. I class myself as a “failing” ultra runner at this stage as I’m yet to get over 100km. And I recently came up with the idea of videoing my own runs like you do, partly for the same reason of just recording it for me and family/friends, but also partly to help me step up to the next level. Hopefully it will help distract me from what is happening that sometimes results in me not getting past that 70km point so often. Watching your video all the way through certainly helped and seeing what a great time you had and how you experience an event like this. Thanks for sharing it and I look forward to watching some of your other videos of past events.

A pleasure from beginning to end. Let's face it you could hardly fit the emotion and trials of a 200 miler into a 10 minute clip. I think the sand would have done me in however. Do I get an award for watching the entire thing!?! Took a few days but I got through it. I stumbled on your Bigfoot 200 video, then TH-cam suggested your Moab 240, then this. Lots of crazy, encouraging, inspiring stuff!! Great job! Kinda make me want to do a 200, I did my first 100 last year, however I don't know if I really want to try it, specifically concerned about not making a cut off, I'm not fast, and all the training, it's so very time consuming. ...maybe someday.
    Thanks for sharing!

    • @FullTiltWard

Jill. Heck yes, you get an award. Would a free pass to watch the new Ultra Intense Cocodona video work for you? It is more than twice the length of this one! studio.th-cam.com/users/videoh_Lkp5zhcO4/comments
200 milers often have a pretty generous cutoff, so people have a great chance of completing as long as they keep moving. Certainly not about speed. Consider it.

I've got into running at the beginning of 2019. 12 miles is about the furthest I've run. I'm really drawn to going longer and I love off road. Any tip or advice on going longer and further because I would love to do an ultra one day. I'm 45 this year so no interest in winning or fast times.

@@FullTiltWard absolutely! I just started getting serious about running! Just discovered your videos last week, I’m inspired! Thank you!

I made it to the finish!! 😆 Great effort as always, Kerry.
I’m pretty sure the snake threat would put me off this one. I’m more comfortable with mountain lions, cougars & bears 🤣

Heya Kerry, made it all the way through your video ;) very nice background for some administrative work, ha!
Best regards from an aspiring ultra runner from the Netherlands

Another amazing video and what a race. The only issue is after finding you a week or so ago, I appear to be running out of these ultra long format videos to watch.

I'll see what I can do to rectify that.

Jeeeez those spiders were massive, can't imagine trying to push through such a hard ultra AND have to watch out for those (and snakes). Well done!

Great movie Kerry... living in Sydney (Aus.) it was great seeing Western Australia and had no idea about those giant trees and the treetop walk.. I missed the gold shorts at the finish.. :)

Cool video. I’m an Aussie from the east coast. If you’re ever out this way for a race I’d love to run with you some time. Ultras are always best when you have people to chat to along the way.
