I would love a more in depth video and product recommendations for both growth factors and peptides(I've already watched the one you've done for peptides). I think retinol is way too irritating for many of us, so listening to your expertise is sth I always look forward too. Thank you doc ❤️
@@johncheffy4775 I have tried retinaldehyde, and it was a disaster. My face couldn't handle it at all (I buffered it, doing everything to the letter). I also have a mix between keratosis pilaris and rosacea, and at the moment I can only tolerate azelaic acid every other day (struggling a bit with this too, but it is bearable and it helps with the redness)
I am a biology student and I specialise in Pharmacology, while I am not at all qualified to confirm nor disprove the efficacy of Growth Factors as a cosmetic ingredient I advise you all to be careful because it could promote the growth of cancerous cells so if you already have cancer it's a big no-no. And if you have any doubts (for exemple if you have suspicious skin lesions that could indicate a melanoma or a carcinoma) talk about it with your dermatologist first. Don't be paranoid, just cautious
This is the first time I hear about growth factors, and the risk of cancer was the first thought that came into my head. I wouldn't risk it in general if there are alternatives 😖
@@mariannek6735 Honestly there's plenty of other ingredients you can use that are backed by more scientific research than Growth factors. Not that I am sure it wouldn't work, but it's not entirely risk free and there's safer alternatives. Work smart, not hard.
I literally just replied about the risk then I saw your comment. I had skin cancer on my face years ago. Caught it early but I am staying clear of anything with growth factors
I had to give up retinols when a dermatologist put me on a tretinoin that was waaaay too strong and kicked off a horrible case of perioral dermatitis that took months to heal. Now, any amount of retinol absolutely irritates my skin into oblivion. Thank you so much for talking about alternatives!
I would be extremely grateful if you could cover growth factors, including SH-Polypeptide-9, the VEGF responsible for blood vessel formation, and its possible negative impacts on fair-skinned individuals with a tendency towards rosacea. Apparently, the production of this substance can be triggered by UV radiation. In darker skin UV does not penetrate deep enough to cause this kind of damage, but for Fitzpatrick 1-2 UV rays can induce synthesis of VEGF, which in turn can lead to telangiectasia. I assume that - if the topically applied GF penetrates at all - it could have a similar effect and lead to undesirable results.
I would love to see a in depth video and product recommendations for growth factors and stem-cells for face and hair. I'm seeing a big buzz around Calecim hair serum and the results are amazing. I would love to hear your opinion on that. Thank you
It be great to have a whole video focusing on growth factors, as well as product recommendations! I know of the Allies of Skin one, and Skinmedica (crazy expensive!! 🤪). So appreciate everything you do, especially as I'm too unwell to ever see a derm in person. I also take notes from videos, pretend I'm back at university! 😅❤️
@@PrototypeMYep, they're a killer for the bank account... or at least the two I know of are. On one of Shereene's videos she recommended Allies of Skin Growth Factor serum. It was a huge splurge ($300 AUD), but I love it! Not sure I can keep it on repeat though 😏

Thank you for nice talks. I am a man in my late 50's. I have a great skin by nature, I eat everything and I smoke. I use retinol acid night cream during the harsh winters of Scandinavia. In summertime: believe it or not, mainly water and olive oil!
With all due respect, why take such great care of your skin and allow cigarettes to poison your body? And it adds to skin aging, discoloration and fine lines. Dear sir, please find ways to switch the cigarettes for something healthier so you don’t have to have open heart surgery like my grandfather or cancer like many, lose a jaw, your ability to speak, etc. Best luck to you. Wish you well and hope you really think this through because caring for the outside and not the inside is next level cognitive dissonance. Maybe time to really care for yourself. ❤ 🙏
I wish you would do a video talking about these wonderful things, but doesn’t address someone who’s in their 80s who was gifted with good skin but would like to know how to keep it going forward
Hi Dr Idris, firstly thank you for educating people about skin care. My question is, should a dry to combo skin type person be using tretinoin 0.05% in their mid 30's. If yes, what should be the other skin care products used alongside? If not, then what's the alternative to achieve a smooth even toned skin.
I've heard that growth factors can stimulate skin cancer in people with a history. There are no conclusive studies I am aware of so for now I am staying clear of anything with growth factirs
I really like the results from Viktoria DeAnn Peptides, but I’m financially unable to continue using it. Is there another brand with similar ingredients and results that costs less? And thank you for your videos they have been informative and helpful.
I think the matrixyl in the coq10 serum is making my skin purge a little.....it causes a little bit of some bumps but once after 2 days of not using it, it is gone....no itchiness and redness
Love your content! Please please can you address using active ingredients to boost collagen and reduce saggy skin on the body?? I saw a TH-camr go through a micro needling+ Vit C + Retinol routine and am intrigued. Any advice? ❤
Could you recommend a vitamin c serum not derived from tomatoes? Most I’ve tried make my skin peel off as I’m allergic to tomatoes and most natural vitamin c seems to be derived from them 🤦🏻♀️😭
Even retinol once a week is killing me! I can't stand the way my skin looks atm, I've tried the layering and it looks so bad!! Vit c does the same thing, I have gone back to my natural products now, I may never be able to get rid of my hyperpigmentation but at least My skin is slowly hydrating again
Avène retrinAL Intensive Cream is also good too- that’s my go-to, but a little pricey. I only buy it when there’s a sale or discount code to use. You’d want to start with .05 first.
Why do you always use the hyponym retinOLs in place of the hypernym retinOIDs? It can be tremendously confusing for a lot of people who are not a #skinerd🤷🏻♀️.
I'm 38 and have some wrinkles and fine lines I have had significant cardiac issues and my last MI hit my face hard! How can I exfoliate with mild rosacea, I don't think the pha is doing much, I use it like 2x a week.
