Just discovered this channel / podcast today. My new favourite! Can't wait to listen to all the previous episodes. So good to hear both mixer and producer perspectives in one discussion. Love the way the conversation naturally flows and segway's off of each other. My favourite reverbs are Eventide Blackhole, IK Multimedia Sunset Sound Studios, and maybe some kind of Spring like AudioThing Springs because it's great for Dub/Reggae. I agree that the Ableton Convolution Reverb has some great IR's. If I could go back I'd probably just start with stock plugins and learn them inside out!
18:23 If I do throw a reverb on vocal track directly, its going to be as a vocal throw but I've only done that a couple of times but it turned out great.
The shuffler changes where the bass frequency is in the spread, which can be dialled in with the frequency slider. It's useful, especially when you use the attenuate to minus 3db for the bass. So you can take out bass in a spread, then change where that bass sits in the spread. Good for reverbs, for example.
Man i love watching these! Native instruments gets slept on too much but I like to clean before I color as well. And definitely clean before i effect but i recently had to make sure i was cleaning the effect as well. Switched a lot of things up for me.
First time seeing this podcast and I'm loving it... If FL starts to focus on the functionality for recording and faster waveform manipulation in the arrangement window it's the biggest and best DAW from then on hands dwn...
If I'm recording the vocals for the artist myself then I'm using that Virtual Mix Rack and it's definitely gonna be a compressor from that rack that the vocals will run through before the EQ. Now if someone sends me stems to mix a record they recorded elsewhere, I'm definitely doing the same thing Devon said. EQ out the issues first
Hey guys love the podcast so much. I have question Regarding a simple 2 track beat from TH-cam lets say. Curious about Plugin chain order for the beat as you have reviewed a couple plugins for a 2track in prior videos. I have the -Studio Rack HMD 2track preset. Do I run this plugin first and > then into Trackspacer??? OR TrackSpacer > into Studio Rack HMD? And then how to incorporate these WITH a Clip Gain plugin? (Logic's Gain Tool) On the recent podcast Devvon mentioned sometimes you are clip gaining a 2track beat down from between -5.6 sometimes even -10. So let's say you are at -10 clip gain on the GAIN plugin in Logic; where should the levels in StudioRack be sitting then? There's both a GAIN knob and a MASTER VOLUME knob in StudioRack. If we need to adjust volume of the beat during mixing, where should we predominately be doing this at? At the GAIN plugin at the very beginning? or leave the GAIN plugin at -10 (or whatever its initially set to) and bring it up the volume using the StudioRack GAIN knob and MASTER VOLUME fader 🤔(thanks so much!)
Have you guys tried seventh heaven professional or slate verbsuite classics reverbs??? Those have the bricasti reverb emulation. I think those should be included.
CLA epic is F-in amazing. Being honest, who is REALLY going to spend the time to set 4 different verb and delay buses going into each other? We're far too lazy for that. The presets are fire too
i dont like fruity reverb 2 , i like using fruity reverb . the first reverb they made , i get better results all thetime , ive never tried fabfilter pro r but after seeing that glimpse ima give it a try , i use valhalla from time to time but i always come back to fruity reverb
Love this approach to gear talk!!! Subscribed from the beginning conversation!!! I can't believe y'all didn't like Reason at all!!! Maybe the interface is more old school because it's modeled after a brick and mortar studio. I'd love for you guys to take a deep dive into it!!!
Great Podcast! Logic does have that good look lol but I think all of them are unique in their own way. I make my beats in MPC2 & Record in Studio One. Can you guys talk about the benefits of using 2 compressors on vocals and do your prefer it
WONDER IF YOU EVER USED PRS SUPERMODEL GUITARS IN WAVES BY PAUL REED SMITH, THE GUITAR COMPANY? IT'S FIYA! MANY PLAYABLE EFFECTS FOR ALMOST ANY TYPE OF GUITAR.
Nice Episode. And let LJ know that Raum is just the German Spelling for Room. Just like Maschine is the German Spelling for Machine. They are German Company, based and founded in Berlin. 😉
IN MY EXPERIENCE. PLUGIN CHAIN ORDER DEFINITELY MATTERS. ALSO DEPENDING ON SONG AND VOCAL TYPE OR INSTRUMENT TYPE, THE CHAIN CAN CHANGE. IT'S NOT GOOD TO COPY CHAINS ALWAYS FOR ALL VOCALS OR INSTRUMENTS. BETTER TO BUILD THEM ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS.

13:00 choosing "COLLECT ALL AND SAVE" in Ableton solves this issue.. as long as you don't go moving file paths afterward.

Yea it’s something I’ve recently been a big fan of for a cool effect
Another gem of a podcast. Funny, informative and inspiring. I'm looking out for that "secret album" .

Lexicon 480 is incredible. Definitely my go-to

Yea just removes a lot of un wanted frequencies
It always depends on the vocal
Keep it rocking! I love this shit!
Yo I wouldn’t call myself an engineer or a producer but I dabble in both fields and I’m learning a lot from this show
That means a lot seriously!!

1 compressor is fast to take care of specific words that are peeky. The other is to level the entire take helping it fit into the mix better.
@@v3zMediaThanks 👍🏽
Thats game right here sometimes if the recording is super dynamic you can add a 3rd comp
What about an emt140?
Auto tune after compression
FL Studio has a convolution reverb

Don’t fall for the look bro 😂
It’s not worth the money lol. I believe it’s like 200$ for that one plug-in but Valhalla is great and is affordable
Tc 8210 is probably the best reverb there is
Teddy Riley uses Studio One *drops mic*
You gotta change your color themes and shxt on Studio One. I use it and I've definitely seen uglier lmao
Reason is the best looking easy😂😂😂
Waves gtr is terrible compared to guitar rig BUT the waves prs model amps are actually pretty good tho!
