Rapture....the BOOK!? Is it canon to the series? Are the devs involved at all (or one of them the author?) My lord I havent been more curious about something in a LONG time.
TacoParade yeah I bought it on iTunes, Bill Mcdonagh built the plumbing systems in Rapture, you find a couple of his logs; he originally sought after Ryan because he admired the working class, after plasmids were discovered, society couldn’t be controlled. I won’t ruin anything, but Bioshock:Rapture needs to be a game of its own
Diane McClintock was Andrew Ryan's girlfriend publicly. Jasmine Jolene was his only mistress. Ryan was going to meet Diane McClintock at the Kashmir Restaurant after giving his New Year's speech, which is seen in the BioShock 2 multiplayer introduction on the apartment television. He didn't abandon their date- he was giving a toast to 1959 over the intercoms before going to join her. The attack happened directly after his speech, if I remember correctly.
@@alexmercer5414 he did. It only took the horrors of war to change him into the hardened man he was. Remember he made rapture to get away from governments and wars.
I came here to say this. In 2 he mentions how he was potentially considering having a child with her. Though, in an audio diary in the 1st game, Diane mentions how Ryan started ghosting her after she got disfigured in the Kashmir bombing.
In the book it’s shown that Diane was actually able to put two and two together and figure out atlas’ former identity when she heard the accent when accidentally walking in
There's an audio diary in the game that showcases it as well. But obviously, it's just her walking in on Fontaine recording an audio diary. You get to see the aftermath.
6:26 👍 Good point, Diane left dairy records before Jack arrive in Rapture collect all dairies. Fontaine record dairy and I hear Diane was here to tell Atlas.
Huh, considering what happens after Suchong's clinic at the end of Burial at Sea part 2 that now makes two times where Atlas has brutally killed a woman in Apollo Square. Heck, both times started when the Atlas persona went away and the Fontaine voice came out.
Favorite character that didnt go crazy, probably. I was always under the impression she was in recovery for a month or two after the bombing. Like she was stuck there and everything was different when she came back. I don’t remember her getting a slew of surgeries to fix her face, but i could be wrong. But yeah. Andrew Ryan is a player and he dont even care lol

I've subscribed for sure, I love this game! But, not gonna lie, you've got me inspired to do a character series on some of the lesser known characters. :)
The audiobook is here on TH-cam. Here i am, close to 50 and enjoyed it. Then i remembered my kids played it so i might have to ask them to replay it so i can watch it. Thanks for these videos, am currently binge watching/listening, like them all!
The book fleshes out a lot more about Dianne and sets the timeline a bit straiter. She was Ryan's main girlfriend but Jolene was his side piece. He had met her through Sander Cohen on the surface and was grooming her. He was doing this under the guise of helping her performance career with diction lessons and personal monetary investment. She was the mistress for sure but Dianne was the one he woudl actually recognize being in a relationship with and take to social events. However, he grew to find her smothering. Dianne continued to propose marriage but Ryan was agaosnt the idea. The recording is interesting because in the book Ryan tells Bill that he ahs always wanted a child to take over, hopefully a boy. He is just waiting for the right time once Rapture is more automous and doesn't need his contact supervison..he seems somewhat sincere but it also becomes clear he never wants to bakc down from his figurehead control. Being so obsessed with the issues of Rapture and finding Diannes yearnings for perosnal time distracting, he actually stood her up on several occasions before the resteruant bombing. Once particular time was at the theater and was when she perosnally met Fontain. He tried to leverage Ryan's absence and put some charm on her. She does give in a little but he never succeeds in using her the way he wanted under that perosna. It did give her a chance to experience the Fontain look and speech patterns directly however. It was actually Bill who helped get her to safety during the bombing. She goes looking for the people who attacked her for vengence or suicide when she is exposed to the true harshness of Rapture's slums. It is through these self exposure, just trying to leanr and get some answers about the side of things she didn't know about that she started to learn about atlas and even overheard a speach of his while charity items were being handed out. She goes to his headquarters and bribes a guard, explaining that she genuinly felt something stirred in her by his speech and wanted to meet him in person just to better understand what he really stands for. She is granted this and does not recognize him as Fontain at the time. She does however, get charmed by him and agrees to dedicate herself to the cause. The reason she leaves so many audio diaries is because she decides to make herself the historian of the revolution. She genuinly sees the situation similar to the American revolution where Rapture would be reclaimed by the people and a new government created that will flourish. She actually leaves a butter note for Ryan thar enrages him despite having been pushing her away for some time. She unfortunatly does walk in on Fontain making a recoding about hsi grafting and finally makes the connection to who he really is. He tried to backpeddle but turns of the recorder and gives it up knowing it's too late. He is the one who then perosnally murders Dianne right there, explaining that it was nothing perosnal but he can't let her live to spoil his big job now that she knows the truth. She pleads and promises not to reveal his secret but Fontian/Atlas kills her on the spot. Had he not tried to romance her in an attempt to get dirt on Ryan at the earlier emcounter, she may have been confused but clueless. Since she knew he was the supposedly dead Fontain form his accent and speach mannerisms, he flet she needed to die immediatly and cover it up.
Yes! 'Bioshock Rapture' was the best book I read in 2015! You learn so much more background information about a lot of the main characters in the first 2 games. 'Burial at Sea' I never got to play

Sometimes I think you just have to realize you don’t pick people well and that if you continue trying it’s not gonna end well for you. At least that’s where I am in my life now- it is a hard realization to come to. It’s especially funny that it was an ex-fiancé that introduced me to bioshock before doing “the Ryan”- lol 😝 Anyway, love this vid and the way in which you made it, and you were right the art you got for the thumbnail is so beautiful! Also excited to know that there’s more to Diane’s character specifically in John Shirley’s Rapture, which I have only just started 😊
Diane truly loved Andrew, didn't she? :( I don't think she meant to chide Andrew, she just wanted him to look after himself. What's upsetting is Diane loved Andrew & he didn't have anything to do with her after what happened to her. Even if Andrew wanted to call it off, couldn't he at least have went to see Diane & asked how she was, or didn't that matter?
I think it would be very tacky and more about parties and capitalism. More so than real life. I could see Rapture citizens giving cards, but gifts would most likely only be in family and I think parents would be encouraged to give "education" toys that promoted Andrew Ryan's ideals

Bioshock 2 gave Tennenbaum a unique model while Burial at Sea part 2 gave Atlas a unique model.
Jerimiaha Fink?
Wait she’s the person who’s on the table that stein man kills?
No, Fontaine killed her to keep his "Atlas" identity a secret. She walked in on him while he was recording an Audio Diary as Fontaine.
TheBioshockHub do we ever see her body in the game tho?
How are you playing through the Medical Pavilion with all guns, health and eve upgraded?
New Game Plus or backtracking after going through Point Prometheus but before putting on the Big Daddy suit
Tania probably got arrested for making joe mama jokes
same.
Where is her body?
Atlas's HQ in Apollo Square.

Welcome!
Andrew Ryan = Libertarian Chad
imagine if Diane and Jasmine met and knew each other?
I'm sure at some point in time, they've met in Rapture.
@@TheBioshockHub I'm sure they would've bonded well over their mutual disillusionment with Ryan and hatred of Fontaine
@@neo-warkid4edwards222 Oh, definitely!
@@TheBioshockHub and Diane could've been a godmother for Jack
