I actually watched the whole thing this morning and I like this 4 minute version better. I can't stand choir music and all the religious stuff was a bit much. It seemed more like a church service that happened to include a coronation.
@@emmteemee that was the point, a coronation is a religious ceremony. Think about it, it doesn't take place in a castle, or palace or the poitical House of Commons, but in a church. I get the impression the most sacred part is the annointing with oils, that happens away from the eyes of the public - hence the screens - not meant for us commoners to witness, plus the oaths. The rest is all a theatrical celebration around it - the music, the prayers, the costumes etc. Interestingly, this clip doesn't show him going to be annointed. It shows him being crowned, but if you look, the crown has a cross on the top, a symbol of Christianity.
i was hoping Johnny English would come swinging out of nowhere and snatch the crown.
They gave the King a Holy Hand Grenade (3:12) specifically to stop that from happening.

Let us all give credit to the AMAZING musicians that played throughout the entire coronation! The musical selections were perfect! ♥️🎶🎻🫶
All the music was personally selected and it commissioned by The King. He even met with Andrew Lloyd Webber to discuss the lyrics to the anthem he wrote.
On the one hand, it seems odd to have a king in these modern days - but then, I always liked the fact, that the British also value their traditions. The ceremony was very impressive; one can only witness such a thing once in a lifetime. Congratulations Great Britain and god save the King!
Probably not once in a lifetime as he's quite old. I'm not a monarchist but it should have been given to William instead. Charles and Camila were so awkward throughout this, and hardly cracked a smile throughout the whole day.
It is not at all "odd" to have kings in modern days.
There are 12 monarchies in Europe alone.
Around the world there are even more; Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Malaysia, just to name a few, all have monarchies.
I was thinking the same thing about British people valuing their traditions. This is one of the main reasons why I don't think they will abolish the monarchy within the next 50 years or so

@@gwamyr1815 suspect your being a little unkind here. Medieval monarchs didn’t have hundreds of million people watching waiting for them to slip up in real time. It’s arguably the most important day of his life and it has to go perfectly. Cue cards help with that

I was in my local fish and chip shop enjoying cod and chips watching Charles being crowned, very much enjoyed both with my royal meal, I may never see another Coronation, never live, this was why it’s nice to see it again here in this channel.

I didn't watch the coronation- yet. But a 4 minute version is fantastic. 😅 My favorite British monarchs will always be Queen Elizabeths I and II. God bless Queen Elizabeth. I'm just so overjoyed that I'm a subject and not a citizen. So ecstatic that the generosity of the royal family with all the extravagance of meals, drinks, security, hotels and cleaning services are paid for by the taxes of the poor and those using food banks to survive... Yes but there is a sadness in watching it all unfold in such unchanged ceremony in front of the world, whilst knowing how many peoples cultural traditions just like this were essentially wiped from the earth by the British. Like so many things in life, it is bitter sweet.
