    Qatar isn’t aiming to be Dubai.
    They are looking to be in the vein of Luxembourg and Singapore. Tiny yet wealthy and powerful.

    • @thoyo
      @thoyo หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Can you please elaborate? I thought they were relatively similar in terms of population and wealth.

    • @NoMadKid
      @NoMadKid หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      @@thoyo they are similar in wealth, geography, religion and culture, that’s where it ends.
      Qatar is a tiny state in comparison so they can’t make the nation solely touristic. So they are targeting a more sustainable economy with education, foreign investment, banking, media, healthcare and fossil fuels.
      But they are still a bit touristy.

    I’ve lived in Qatar as my husband worked there for several years, we both have two Master degrees each. Coming from a Western country, you can only live there as a highly qualified professional on a work visa (or dependent visa if your spouse works there and qualifies to bring family members along). A work visa is tied to the job and requires a lot of paperwork. It’s not like you can just choose to “move there” or “get sponsored” randomly. As a single you will “just” need a job (which you gotta secure first, good luck) to move there; if you have a family and are NOT on a package salary, school fees for children and living expenses for a family can easily surpass your salary and then the whole endeavour becomes totally infeasible. So, no you can’t just move there just because you want to.

    Was married to a saudi and lived in the middle east and absolutely loved it. One thing to note is that Texas tech has a university in Doha and theyre pulling out of the country due to what i read was concerns about future security. I think Qatar would be an amazing place like Abu Dhabi to live and they are marketing in the USA to immigate to Qatar but im just not convinced. You can work and retire very quickly living in the ME as an expat but like you mentioned, you need a sponsor and if all heck broke loose, the life you built there is not yours. You might want to understand islam and sharia law before making any decisions as there is not alot of enthusiasm for other faiths so ….. too hot year round this girl but i loved my time there and was treated like royalty so i was grateful and will always love the people and culture. 😊

    The reason why people in Qatar are more conservative with their wealth is because Qatar has old money. Dubai is very new money people who are rich but not necessarily wealthy. You can always tell the difference when you see how someone presents themself.

    Having just returned from the middle east, you are spot on with Qatar. It’s not as glitzy, fast-paced, open and populated like Dubai, but it still offers something. I think it’s an easy move for anyone considering it, otherwise, try visiting to getting away from the buzz of Dubai! Great video

    I lived in Doha, Qatar for 1.5 years and it was extremely boring (unless all you care about is shopping). The business owners only care about themselves/making money and show little concern/respect for their clients & employees. And rent is extremely expensive, I lived in the Pearl and it's not nearly as "luxurious" as it's made out to be. It's all a facade!

If you are from USA or UK and other European countries you are treated very well, especially if you are sponsored by a large company. I was in the state Department. My brothers and sisters from African countries who come to work are often mistreated and undergo racist situations. FYI, It is not All paradise for everyone!

    Great video and presentation Lamide. I've been considering moving to one of the gulf states for a while now but don't know which one I would like to move to as well as I would need to get in touch with someone who could help me with all the formalities, job, some assistance for settling down, etc. I'll stay tuned for more for sure!

      Which cities or countries are you considering?

      Dubai, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Maybe Oman but probably not. I’m 99% sure it’s going to be Dubai as it’s the most popular destination for European expats but I don’t cross out other options if they turned out to be more attractive than Dubai. I’ll have to gather more info and give it a thought. Which place would you say is best to relocate to and why?

    I acqired a Golden Visa and now have three rental properties in Doha. My ROI is around 45% yearly. Doha is 20xs better than the US and safer. I have been welcomed , feel free to be my authentic self and experienced no racism as a Black Expat. I've had numerous conversations with the local natives about the west and theyd rather many of them not be here lol. LOVE Doha AND their culture!

      Tbh In a lot of countries I’ve been to there will be some locals who don’t want outsiders there, but the government has a longer term vision. These countries won’t be able to survive of oil reserves forever so they need to start diversifying, locals will just have to deal with it. When certain western countries say they don’t want immigrants in their country for example they’re crucified 🤷🏽‍♀️
