"Upon mine honor, you shall harm neither my fair queen nor our citizens."
For how little screen time that dude has, he rose to my top character in the expansion with how much he was going off in that scene
throwback to when that dude killed himself to protect an immortal
I love him so much, he's one of my favorites 🥲
@@charliemcmillan4561im pretty sure he shielded the whole party or something like that. I saw an animation of a shield forming over the whole fight arena
RIP to a true knight. A Paladin in every honorable way
Koana throwing his claimant tablet in the air and blasting it while this theme kicked in is one of the best scenes in a game full of very good moments.
“It seems I am no longer a claimant, I am now free to participate, I trust?”
Shame he didn't get more screen time.
@@TeemoTeemosson Maybe he'll take a more active role in patch content.
"IMPLACABLE STRENGTH O F THE MOUNTAIN... BE MINE!" the VA killed it on this dungeon holy crap
CHRONICLES OF ELD.
I still love that.
Ran that dungeon a good two dozen times to level my trusts:
"Chronicles of Eld: Recount the tale of Roiling Waters! - Erupting Peaks! - Recall the cruelty of Merciless Storms!"
And then of course: "Spirit of my brethren, YOUR THUNDER ROARS!"
SPIRIT OF MY BRETHREN YOUR THUNDER *ROARS*
I wasn't really feeling this boss theme at first...Until that exact moment. The way the music hits just compliments those voice lines so well and the overall theme of the fight in a way that was just incredible
Gurfurlur is hands-down one of my favorite characters ever - such a fantastic concept.
song name is officially "Pathmaker", the orchestrion roll was added in the patch from today as a drop from the new treasure maps.

This song gives me shivers, not because of any of the final dungeon bosses, but because of that one instance in Solution Nine, i've FELT this song in my chest in there
YESSSSS
A bit like a certain Instance in Endwalker, no? 😏
@@sable7571 exactly!
I just did that yesterday and yes yes yes!
Trust me, there isn't a more perfect song playing, in the very last dungeon before the final boss of all DT, when you're the last survivor of your team (probably playing a tank), and fighting alone against a 50% HP left boss... Dodging all the mechanics while putting your soul into your rotation... It's far more than exquisite, it's almost orgasmic 😊
I felt it in Endwalker, but Dawntrail boss Theme doesn't disappoint me either. 😍😍😍 This theme is very grand.
It's definitely hit or miss for me with this soundtrack.
The dungeon final boss theme is definitely a HIT, though.
Big FF 10 vibes for some reason
finality is flames the piano bit in it mmmmm
Immediately hear FFX at the beginning of it. I KNEW I RECOGNIZED IT. Was hard to really tell with friends talking and freaking out during fight, so had to listen here xD
I KNEW I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE! Enemy Attack was the first thing I heard with this boss theme. All that's missing is a tambourine going nuts during the chorus.
@@KitasuArano if you speed up enemy attack to 1.25 you get the same tempo. Drum beats for both songs are almost identical
HELLO I'M GLAD YOU HEARD IT TOOOOOOOO
Yepp it’s like FFX 🎉
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING! HOLY CRAP! :D
Ah good, the trend of epic dungeon boss themes is alive and well
Was there ever any doubt with Soken and his team involved?
@@Twocoolman115endwalker's was kinda lackluster imo, just a bit
@@oktinaa Tbf, the sound team cranks out a lot of songs. Some are going to be lackluster
@@justinr1021its especially jarring when the mid boss theme is that good tho

"....It seems [spoiler redacted]. I am now free to participate, I trust?"
The Solution Nine instance is a very close second for me, but the above moment and the solo that follows it is the highlight moment for this song for me.
That, honestly, is one of my favorite moments in the whole game. Bro knew what needed to be done, and he wasted no time. No hesitation. No regrets. Respect
This theme has grown on me. I didn't like it at first, but hearing it played while I have an epic battle against a dungeon boss sold me on it.
SAME!!! At first I was saying it's not a banger like the boss theme in Stormblood or EW, but after going through the DT msq, it really grew on me
@@Saiion it really perfectly captures that "im going all out" vibe
This song grew on me because I realized the dungeon bosses were actually much harder than before.
I thought it was overkill until this morning when I, a NIN and tbe last living member of my party, was fighting for my life against a boss at 5%.
Yeah I hated it out of context at first also but after being in the game it’s actually pretty perfect.
Didn’t really like this track at first, but after playing through the MSQ it really grew on me. It hits very hard during the lvl 97, 99, and 100 dungeons as well as the Solution Nine solo duty.
The part at 1:07 always gives me shivers. It feels so epic with the violins, and that piano accent hitting those high notes.
0:07 is a reference to FFX- Enemy Attack :) I geeked out when I heard it
I love that song in FFX ! Brilliant
Yeah!!! I shouted that out when i first heard it too! What an awesome leitmotif
SIIIIIN
I KNEW SOMETHING SOUNDED FAMILIAR XD I’ve not played much on the other FF games, but I heard the music and yeah. As soon as I heard the boss theme, I said “You know. This sounds almost like FF10” XD
Actually it’s closer to ffxv and ffxvi
This makes me want to do impossible shit. Incredible track. Worthy of a boss theme.
No idea why I get chills from this but I’m fully immersed when this plays.
didn't take long for this one to grow on me
love that piano
i love finality and was sad when it went away post endwalker but i think i like this even more
This is 100% Daiki Ishikawa again. The intro just sounds like something he would do. Loud and pronounced percussion accompanied by strings to grab your attention and to create a tense atmosphere in a dungeon final boss. Though he seems to have taken some inspiration from Masashi Hamauzu and Junya Nakano from FFX for the intro. Love the intro and the bit at 1:08.
Well... when I said "100%", I did not expect it to turn out this way. This can't be Takafumi Imamura, right? Did Imamura mimic Ishikawa's music style perfectly?
When the bass drops at 1:23 and I'm just vibing, I swear I can feel the whole song roll across my living room like a wave. It's unreal! I LOVE THIS SONG!
The bass at that one part is SO GOOD
At first I thought this wasn’t all that if a theme compared to SHB and EW but it fits the vibe so perfectly to how the pace of these bosses felt I ended up just loving it so much
I get big Vim and Vigor vibes off this one, sounds straight out of KH2 and I love it
Favorite boss theme in the game...there I said it.
I love that low thrum starting at 1:24! First time I heard it in a dungeon I thought it was a boss mechanic though lol
I swear this is from FF16! A bunch of the music in the game does this and there’s even points during the story where this same/similar sound tells you something REAL BAD is happening. I can’t begin to tell you how much I loooove this thrum. It makes me feel so bad ass.
@@theprizewinningsquidi think it's just more of a musical nod to the whole aesthetic of solution 9 and what not
So glad to see I'm not the only one who got FFX-vibes when I first heard this track! I'm also reminded of a bit of Yoko Shimomura as well (KH/KH:CoM/KH2 vibes)
I should have known the Fun Happy Summertime Adventure in Fantasy American Continents story was going to get real serious the moment I first heard this.
I wasn't prepared for where things would end up. T.T
**“ANNHILATION. ANNIHILATION. ANNIHILATION! ANNIHI-“**
I always mimic it irl, no idea why but I find it so cool how it starts freaking out like that
@@ubermaster1 It's like a Dalek
It's very FFX-like along with lower Yak T'el being Macalania Woods
the train scene was ripped straight out of a modern western and i loved it
It was so cool!
If it had been an instance, imagine
Yeah it was ripped straight out of Shb, EW. Let's build something together as a team to progress the story... what a fresh and never used trope...
The actual scene was alright, could have been an instance
@@Kur0m0ri who the hell cares lol
Yo that's the FF9 Abaddon!
Or do you mean Crystal Chronicles Abaddon?
@@kevinlee7678 I had to Google that cos I've never played Crystal Chronicles, and shit yeah, basically same design.
Without too many spoilers because i looked at the msq list, thats nowhere near the last reference to 9
I noticed this too! Glad to see some more FF9 mobs!

@@Multxverse I just realise that
No it is ff16 who feeling like xiv. 😂
Yeah I thought the same thing. You really feel that Soken worked on both 16 and DT either simultaneously or shortly after one another. Epic orchestral with a more heavy use of a choir (and this isn't the only DT track either).
This arranges Dawntrail masterfully good lord
When your bard hits that BATTLE VOICE as the beat drops
Love this song... I'm a big fan of other themes being remixed this way. I love the sense of urgency
Are you talking about leitmotifs? I'm obsessed with them :)
I havent seen anyone else mention it in here, so I'll share my thoughts on the boss theme.
Where previous expansion themes work wonderfully alone, DT's seems almost tailor made for bosses with voicelines. Without them, this theme is still good, but the music backing what i consider excellent voice actors (at least on the JP side) really is what makes this song one of the most memorable to date.
So good, I think this along with Triumph are the best boss themes
This is an amazing boss theme
I love how traditionally "final fantasy" this theme is. I absolutely love this!
Am I hearing the FFX Sin theme as an undertone here?
You are!
where? Im deaf xD
@melaniebiberger2191 in the beginning of the song you can hear it. It's brief but it's there
What is the "Sin theme"?
Definitely hearing some FFX near the start there.
Thanks for the upload - so much FFX nostalgia in this!
Thank you for getting this up in time for me to listen in the office.
I feel like you can hear that Soken was also working on FF16 shortly before Dawntrail or simultaneously. A few of DTs tracks are more "epic orchestral" with choir in scope which is a nice change of pace as I feel 14 was really lacking those soundtracks.
Yea its very nice that both Endwalker and Dawntrail went back to the usual Final Fantasy epic orchestral stuff for most of the MSQ trial themes and less so of the cheesy vocal themes (which can be nice but it was getting out of hand). It's fine for them to leave that stuff for the raids and have the main story feel more FF-like.
@@Cue-Ball.And then he made Bee my Honey xD
The drums are crazy this expansion.
At first i didn’t really care for it, but the more I progressed with the story, the more i fell in love with it. It has that FF9 and FF10 flare to it; both of which are my favourite FFs. So great job yet again, Soken!
I have a feeling that the boss I'm always going to associate this theme with is Gurfurlur. His lines are just too fun to say
Not my most favorite dungeon boss theme, but i can respect people liking it
This is giving me FFXV vibes, ngl. Dawntrail really outdid itself.
Soken and Shimomura should have a Leitmotif battle. Both of them give me chills. It's as if their music is just "alive."
From the first moment I heard the theme I was telling myself: Ok, but when will the chorus come?... Its like it was made for it to fit there. And then in the first dungeon I heard it and was not disappointed. Banger
Being a warrior and finishing the boss solo after your party died feels so damn good with this track blasting
I solo'ed a final dungeon boss with DRK with the whole party dying and won. Now THAT'S boss level Tanking 😎
My favorite part is that you can tell this is from FF16 sessions and it wasn’t used there. Which is great because that means we get it for 14 and the music from 16 was beyond epic. This and Endwalker’s are my favorite two Dungeon Boss themes ever created. This lives rent free in my head. During the breakdown of this, I love that it instantly makes me think of the times in 16 when something really bad is happening and you’re about to go handle it. Gah.
Thanks Pictomancer job Quest for letting me hear this banger before going to Tural
1:53 sounds truly apocalyptic... this is exactly what will play when the world ends!
This song should have played when tuliyollal defended against redacted in one of the best smash cuts I’ve ever seen.
"We will hold out Lamaty'i, so keep your eyes forward, and do what only you can do; finish this, and return home. Safe and sound."
The beat of this track feels a lot like FFVIII's regular battle theme's beat to me. Even though this is in 6 and VIII's is in 5, it just kinda feels similar.
It's from FFX. Listen to FFX's boss theme, Enemy Attack.
Yeah, this is it chief....this IS it!
Is this... Holy crap, is this a mix some FFX combining with some aesthetics of Octopath and FFIX tracks?! This music is beautiful! I still love Endwalker's boss theme but this - this is serene to fight to.
the feat of the brotherhood should've been a trial
The first 20 seconds sound SO MUCH like Enemy Attack from FFX hd remaster! :D
*SCREE*
Somehow this track is more epic than ew was😮
man it almost feels like a waste of a name to give this random bug in the level 91 dungeon the name Apollyon.. there's so much more that could be done with a name with that amount of history and lore behind it.
I need to know what that Astorlogian is wearing asap.- edit found your FFXIV PAGE it’s the sky pirates
Coat of healing
Hearing some FFX as well as some Lost Odyssey
This song sounds sooooo final fantasy. You get me?!
Did they just....outdo TRIUMPH?
Its a real shame the expansion story wasn't fully faithful to the trailer (an eldorado adventure): cuz this boss tune fits that theme to a T.
聞けば聞くほど好きになる曲
this shit is flames
Soken is a god.
The piano in this is sooo good
Shb and Ew had both banger dungeon boss themes and Dt just added 2 more
This is *fire*
Not as big of a fan, but I can still appreciate how much work went into this song you can tell this song took a lot of work to put together. I hope one day we get the ability to swap generic battle songs out since we are getting so many different boss themes at this point i'd love to be able to pick my favs from past expansions to hear over the main ones would help with the dungeon repetition.
This expansions music is so damn to tier
is it just me or is this video slightly quieter compared to the others?
This song fuels my fighting spirit let's go onward to battle Dancers of Eorzea Unite!
Endgame spoilers
This theme hits so hard while fighting Eliminator and hearing it more and more begin to glitch out
It also starting to repeat "eliminate! eliminate!!" desperately as we still stand against it.
Around 1:12 you can hear ffxv battle theme, I dont think anyone has mentioned that yet...
I hear Omnis Lacrima a bit in the piano.
I mistook this enemy for the Mantis Ant from secret of mana rather than the FF9 enemy it’s meant to be
Soken continues to cook! Love the new leimotif
I was so worried, like how would he apply that plucky opening theme variant of it in all the other ways he usually has to reapply the same melody again and again?? And yeah, he did it again. No notes
@@drummermg131at this point, I truly believe it’s impossible for that man to NOT cook
Works better in Solution Nine's event than as a boss theme. I think I like the mid-boss version better...but this one does have a certain quality to it I can't put into words. Definitely not my favorite, but I can't stop humming it....
Im sorry but Im just not hearing Enemy Attack with this one. I think the part that people highlight its reference feels just slightly too different for it to be intentional.
It's most likely not intentional but I do see the slight similarity that people point out. It's the one droning long string+brass combo chord that plays at the beginning of both tracks for a few seconds.
Won't beat Shadowbringers boss theme but it's still good.
Gonna need the bug spray.
Imagine if Abadon was this strong in 9
If y’all could tell me when this hits Spotify
Probably not gonna be for at least another year. FFXIV soundtracks tend to take a while to come out
Judging by Endwalker and Shadowbringers we probably won't see this on Spotify 'till like 2026 lol. They haven't even got Growing Light on there yet and that would go first.
Square Enix sadly view Spotify as a sale loss for their physical OST release so they delay it by literal years.
Yeah fat chance for Spotify, the soundtrack should be out by October, if you wanna download it and add some of those to your library directly, base osts come out in about 2-3 months, patch OST won't be out until like Spring 2026 once we're done with DT though.
Soken ..... again his work is the best part about Dawntrail just like 16
Should post a 10 hour loop of this to remind me of the Lv. 95 dungeon final boss run I was forced to do with the absolute WORST healer I've run into in a very long time, because that's what it felt like (10 hours) getting through that boss without the healer dying and the rest of us wiping because of it. 12 wipes total and finally won with mere minutes left on the Duty timer.
なんかFF15みあるBGM
Call me crazy but I think this should be swapped with the mid boss dungeon theme. I think the other version slaps more than this one.
VERY FF10
5:34 - discord notification
its weird. I was getting sick of the Endwalker boss theme, but now I kind of prefer it
giving me strong FFX musically...and the enemy is from 9??
So we're writing our doctorate now for FFXIV battle mechanics now?
Damn this guy puts m&k players to shame 🙄
To be fair, FFXIV feels alot easier (At least for me) with a controller.
