“Wherefore would you mourn the coming dawn” is a lot more sinister when you consider what Golbez is planning to do to make that dawn happen, and how it will play out.
Little fun fact about the arena and background for the Archfiends: The four archfiends are named after demons in Dante's Inferno, being 4 of the 12 members of a gang known as the Malebranche, who guard the fifth Bolgia of the Eighth Circle of Hell. This is where people who try to get rich or positions of power through immoral means (think blackmailers, land speculators, and politicians) go, where they're forced to swim in a pool of burning tar, and it's the Malebranche's job to prevent anyone from leaving it by stabbing anyone who escapes with barbs and hooks. so in this fight, Rubicante is quite literally opening a portal to hell, possibly to drag you into it. now you know.
I love when people who don't speak English sing it like this. It's easy to forget English is a Germanic language until you _really_ hear it. It's so cool.
Huzzah, I've been looking for like two weeks straight for this with lyrics! Some of the rapid fire lines definitely show off that Hyadain influence. Though lines like "save your tears, face your fears, in despair you will find no safe harbour. Dare to stroke the fire in your soul, make keen your blade. This song. This damn song. FFIV was my first and my favorite FF. To see my favorite boss from my favorite game have such an amazing remix… it’s emotional honestly.
What's great is that the music is literally taken from the cover just with extra instruments and different vocals/lyrics. Now we need a Ultros battle with Ultros Boogie playing in the background.
So Scarmiglione, Barbariccia, Cognazzo, and Rubicante are all from The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri (so is Beatrice from The Fell Court of Troia, I was really struggling to remember her from FF4 before I remembered this), so I gotta give a tip of the hat to Soken for thinking to make the vocals for this FF4 track sing in the style of Italian Opera.
Like with utlima and many other 14 songs the chant is actually random nonsens, and the lyrics are retroactivaly written for it to match the singing at least that is how it seems to me

It can be increased with practice, and technique can be taught, but like any musical instrument, you must hone it with persistence and patience. [eta] We were runners-up in said competition.
I started singing along at .5 speed then eventually got the hang of it and recently it paid off on a roadtrip when my friend looked at me in shock cause he didnt think this song had real actual lyrics.
Omfg, this song is amazing! The lyrics are SO good. I didn't know it was possible to sing in English and convey gravity the choir here conveys. Mind totally blown 🤯
I was hoping for a long time to see FFIV stuff in FFXIV, especialy the four elemental fiends. And I really did hope the music would be as similar as possible to the Hyadain version but I thought it was merely impossible. Damn. What a good surprise!
Underrated part of this song, the first few seconds luring you in to a "oh okay i guess were just doing a battle against the 4 archfiends theme again" and then it hits you with the GOTCHYA. similar to how p5-8 starts with the non lyrics version of scream for the first one and you're set up like "oh okay i guess it will be 3 orchestral and then the final boss will be with lyrics , like in the first wing" and then they turn it around and raise the stakes, smacking you with a hemitheos AND the lyrics version right on the 2nd fight. very clever meta use of music there
I don't know if its a coincidence or if its intended, but I love that Forged in Crimson and Scream which are both from Endwalker mentions that "the gods wouldn't hear the WoL's cries". And we do see the gods in the new raids. I wonder if there's some connection there
Getting serious "Metal" flashbacks from this. Give those vocalists a raise, singing at that speed *cannot* be easy. Really damn good tune too, wonder if they'll bring the other Fiends in and give them altered versions of the tune to fit their elements?
I was wondering where did Hyadain go after his boom... turns out he is still producing AND arranged that track. I suggest everyone to go check his Four Archfiends track (with translated lyrics). It's old gold!
Really nice editing Mr Chad, good stuff. You synced it very well and the intro was particularly good. Simple, but effective. I like the no-ui play with good shots of the scenery as it changes too.
The remake of the old FF4 boss theme was already incredible before it went 10x harder for this fight. Also this boss stage is incredible...!! Best fiend 🔥
I have him as a mod replacing Phoenix as Summoner, and man is it fantastic. Freaking love Rubicante's design, and man, this theme! Took the original boss theme that was already fantastic and turned it up to 11!
I so wish we could have a main fight with all four, and the actual Hyadain version is used for the memes. Or an Ultros ultimate with Ultros Boogie re-envisioned.
Wow! The lyrics are actually in good English! Sure, the choir's pronunciations need work here and there, but credit where credit is due on the stellar writing. AND this was created by Hyadain? Well, will wonders never cease. EDIT: The video says that Hyadain made the music; someone else made the lyrics. Still, the music slaps nonetheless.
The song is great, but the fight is the worst of any extreme or savage released in the entire expansion so far imo, it’s just 80% follow the leader, 15% mechanics we’ve seen before and a limit cut style mechanic that any good group can skip

I wonder if there's some connection there
We’ve come full circle with Hyadain helping with the arrangement of this song.
The fight some of us waited 33 years for
Sad that Rubicante being the sexiest is not in the lyrics. Even if it's true.
Yeah, probably.
well he never skipped leg day so he number 1 in my book
Def the sexiest in our hearts
Oh no!
hes *HOT*!
…I’ll see myself out
@@ageishyena3035 Ohohoho! To inflict such a wound on Golbez-sama.
I refuse to believe it's not "fire man fire man" at 0:23
Getting serious "Metal" flashbacks from this. Give those vocalists a raise, singing at that speed *cannot* be easy. Really damn good tune too, wonder if they'll bring the other Fiends in and give them altered versions of the tune to fit their elements?
Well, Rubicante was the last fiend, the previous 3 of them already got their theme and have been defeated.
@@kontosenpai8780 can't wait to the elements refight theme now
Ah yes Picante, Archfiend of Salsa
I was wondering where did Hyadain go after his boom... turns out he is still producing AND arranged that track.
I suggest everyone to go check his Four Archfiends track (with translated lyrics). It's old gold!
Gods so good and that little electronic bit?? Also hilariously fun to try to keep up with the singing lol
I literally contorted my visage into stank face when that beat dropped at 1:47
...I'm still singing the Hyadain version. "SCARMIGLIONE!"
You mean the other hyadain version :^)
All puns aside, this theme is straight fire.
I just realized those "rocks" on the hell realm are giant burnt corpses
3:01 "Shall I show you what's under my mantle?"
>///< ... Why Rubicante?
Edge enters the battle
/steal
Rubricante withdraws.
Wouldn’t it be funny if Ninjas used Mug on Rubicante to interrupt such a thing as a game mechanic?
There is nothing to see. I am disappointed.
Really nice editing Mr Chad, good stuff. You synced it very well and the intro was particularly good. Simple, but effective. I like the no-ui play with good shots of the scenery as it changes too.
Dude you showed me a few things on that paladin of yours. Awesome video great job and congrats on the clear.
A beat so hot that not even the frozen winds of Hell's ninth circle could touch it 👌👌👌
The remake of the old FF4 boss theme was already incredible before it went 10x harder for this fight. Also this boss stage is incredible...!! Best fiend 🔥
HE HAS BEEN SUMMONED! XFFING
FFIV fans are feasting, good God.
As an FF3 and 8 fan, I’ve been feasting hard in ShB. Glad FF4 is getting their turn!
Fans of all the different FF should get their time!
This track is one of my favorites in final Fantasy games with Ascension (ffxvi) and One Winged Angel (ffvii)
Now i think of Baldicante dancing with his cloak on, whenever i hear this song... 😅
WE SUMMON THEE
Could barely focus on the fight my first time cause I was paying too much attention to how fucking hard the vocalists were going lol, this is great
donkPraise I SUMMON THEE donkPraise
TH-cam really want me to rewatch this video. I'm not complaining as this song is a fire banger!
Weird that Rubicante's theme begins with someone yelling "Scar-mig-lio-ne!"
I have him as a mod replacing Phoenix as Summoner, and man is it fantastic. Freaking love Rubicante's design, and man, this theme! Took the original boss theme that was already fantastic and turned it up to 11!
I always expect the hyadain version to start playing
I so wish we could have a main fight with all four, and the actual Hyadain version is used for the memes.
Or an Ultros ultimate with Ultros Boogie re-envisioned.
If anyone can pull it off, it’ll be Hildebrand.
best part is, this IS the hyadain version.
This is easily one of the best fights and songs in Endwalker.
The song is great, but the fight is the worst of any extreme or savage released in the entire expansion so far imo, it’s just 80% follow the leader, 15% mechanics we’ve seen before and a limit cut style mechanic that any good group can skip
@@obamaorb7426 So the usual.
RISE BALDICANTE RISEEEE
zpp
I genuinely did not think this was in english
IKR! I assumed it was Gregorian, like a lot of other FF tracks. But English lyrics!
@@enigmaticspirit08 Don't wanna be an asshole about it, but Gregorian isn't a language, just a singing style. You might have been thinking of latin which is the language most gregorian songs were written in.
@@NeoChronoid I'm aware, but thank you for pointing it out. I wasn't clear.
I want to sing the original lyrics XD and now.... Scarmiglione! :D
Battle against the 4 fiends getting some use I see
1:46 the HALF TIME BREAKDOWN
holy shit this song slaps! I was so focused on the fight that I didn't even notice
The lyrics: this song
The true lyrics:
"Watashi no manto no nakami o misemashou ka... ?"
I personally would've displayed "Raw strength on a level mere mortals cannot contest" as "Raw strength on a level mere" "Mortals cannot contest" as it better reflects the rhythm of the delivery tbh
I SUMMON THEE! 🙌 🐸
Who else feels like Patrick struggling to sing the “C A M P F I R E S O N G song”?
I SUMMON THEE... BALDICANTE!
A beat so hot even Tsunami, Tsunami, Tsunami couldn't put it out.
Does anyone else feel like we got Nomura’d with how Rubricante sprouted one wing?
That bassline... it does things to a man
Hyadain!? Is that you!!
Sure is.
rubicante's theme is still the best four winds theme in ffxiv currently
"Yeah, probably". -Barbariccia
I really respect how much of the Extreme mechanics they show in the Normal for these fights.
It could just be me, but whenever Rubicante torches the mountains on either side of his personal equator, I see lots of writing and suffering men that look similar and wonder "are these his victims, or are these reflections of the many different instances he's suffered and toiled as the void flame?"
Given the in battle text says something along the lines of "Rubicante's inner torment is made manifest" it might just be the 2nd option.
Given who composed this, it just dawned on me that the gaps in lyrics could be filled with the Fiends' names like the original.
Rubicante was later arrested for indecent exposure
When u think u can sing along fine and then the part at around 1:50 comes along 💀💀
That dancer's got a snowball's chance in hell.
These lyrics are great and all, but I don't think they'll ever replace Hyadain's version in my head.
Who knew the flames that licked at my heels was actually his mixtape?
