  • Does sound deadening really work? Join us today for a 2022 Polaris Ranger Northstar Ultimate mods day and also the detailing and clean up of our 2019 Polaris Ranger Northstar to get it detailed and prepped to sell so we can get Sharon a new 2022 Polaris Ranger Northstar Ultimate! Our current plan is for each of us to have new Polaris Northstar Ultimate in anticipation of Sharon being able to retire in about a year and a half, so that we each have our own machine to enjoy in the future. In today's episode we will cover several upgrades and mods for both of our Ranger Ultimate machines. Also we'll have a special guest "Iron Mike" pay us a visit to help me do some shop work on our machines. I will also be installing sound deadening sheets to my 2022 Ranger Northstar Ultimate and do some before and after videos to see if the siless sound deadening mats work or not. We'll also adjust the Polaris Ranger Ultimate shocks on Sharon's new machine from the stiffest shock setting down to the softest shock setting as she is more about a comfortable ride around our property above anything else. Here are a few other recent Polaris Ranger Ultimate videos that you might be interested in:

    OOORRRAAAHHH MARINE !!! : ) Kap, it is noticably quieter to me on the video. Thought I'd mention that if you have not already done this, you might add that sound deadening material to the inside and outside of the firewall (on the cab side, and engine side). If you can do that, I bet it would make an even bigger difference in the noise reduction. Semper fi

      @kapperoutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hoorah Marine! Yeah I looked at it again today to see where I could add more, and basically got angry! LOL. Tried removing the backing of the back seats and it did not go well! I did add some on the outside of the cab. I might try again if the weather cools off, too hot right now! Semper Fi man! Thanks

    Thought there was a marked improvement in the sound until you went into the low range then it wasn't so noticeable 🤔 nice to see Iron Mike back again he did a good job on the 19 buggy 👍 that suspension spanner is commonly known as a C spanner 👍 nice video 👌

    Iron Mike did a great job on the 19. The sound deadening material does reduce the noise.

    Nice to see "Iron Mike" still in the land of the living---but Kapper---take him to get a couple triple bacon cheese burgers and large fries with a milk shake. The sound deadening is more like "sound suppression" but hey, its good enuf for who its for!! lol

    I dunno about the oil company idea, have you tried painting? apparently it’s easy to churn a few out and make almost as much as oil consultancy…

    Kap, that’s a shock spanner wrench.

    Literally just got the same ranger as you did yesterday. the wife said it was louder than she said it was louder than she thought it would be. will say we got a lot of hills do a lot of fencing so most of our travel is low range. I noticed once you get into that 4-6,000 rpm range the volume sure gets louder. Still a helluva lot better than the old 2010 800 we had but you notice it. but since I'll be driving 90% in low and the rpms will be a lot at its worst level I'm thinking I'm going to put some of that sound board in to try to get it as low as possible.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did a video or two on adding sound deadening which really made a nice difference in reducing the sound. Best of luck thanks

  • @drunkdunc8738
    @drunkdunc8738 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Was it a sound investment? I’m quietly confident it was but the suspension work was a big shock to spring Kapper😲🍻

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure if it was a sound investment, but it got a good sound improvement! However, I disagree with your assessment on suspension, this was much more than a shocking improvement.. As I was taking the first ride the suspension was killing me as to how shocking it would be! LOL

  • @jessewarren2689
    @jessewarren2689 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    adjusting the shock spring preload doesn't change the stiffness of the shock, it only changes the ride height.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      interesting.. But doesn't it stand to reason that compressing the spring would make it stiffer?

    • @jessewarren2689
      @jessewarren2689 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kapperoutdoors Its not compressing the spring, just changing where the spring sits on the shock body, giving you more or less up travel at ride height.
      I thought the same as you for years. It just changing where the shock sits in its travel, that is why people change to different weight springs depending on if they are adding more weight to the machine or want a smoother ride.

    Cool , I have an ATV here in Ireland ... The only downside is riding it in winter. It would be nice having a cab during a wet cold winters day... Would this go places an ATV would go . Some of the land I travel is particularly swap or Marsh!

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes this thing will go about any place an ATV will. And the heat AND AC are awesome! Not to mention the full cab! Today I was using it in the rain, while listening to my tunes via Bluetooth on the radio! Money well spend in my opinion! Thanks

    The spanner wrench polaris provides is terrible, try a large set of channel locks, it is so much easier.
