- Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at our next-generation delivery service. Fast, quiet, clean - it’s basically teleportation for food, medicine, and more.
Platform 2 is launching in cities across the United States very soon.

"Just got done waiting 4 days for a set of headphones that doesn't even weigh 2 lbs, packaging included. Can't say I'll miss waiting days for something so simple. Drones will be amazing, especially if they can work in relay to get things across multiple states using transfer stations."
Wish you all the best guys, this is just awesome!
Anyone else think the droid is as cute as a bumblebee?
I do love me a good VTOL....
Very cool, great job Zipline team!
Worried about drone pirates, i feel like that could be an issue
Amazing technology!! can't wait to see this in neighborhood
Y'all been busy. I'm here for it.
awesome advancements
This is going to be amazing :D (I hope that this gets to spain in at least 20 years)
What if I grab the cable during delivery?
I would love for this to work but it has some challenges. Hopefully the packages are waterproof, theftproof, and animalproof. Also, some of these will be dangling from trees and power lines.
Mark Rober needs to come visit!
been following since last year, this is some super exciting stuff!
Zipline has made their drones extremely reliable and super quiet, so there won’t be much competition for deliveries under 8 lbs in the near future. However, demand is going to outpace their ability to scale by hundreds of times. Eventually, they’ll need to sell manufacturing rights to other companies since they won’t be able to produce the tens of millions of drones needed globally. It’s going to be critical for other businesses to adopt this tech to meet that massive demand.
I call dibs to run this technology/service in my town. Please send franchise info, I will sign off immediately.
and when the "droid" gets snagged on something? what then?
The timing is unfortunate where the economy over the last 4 years turned fast-food into a luxury item.
But I believe this still has a very solid chance to become THE future of delivery. Even just managing to break the duopoly of food delivery apps would be a great change.
This is innovation
Let's go!
my apartment's balcony is obstructed by upstairs neighbor's balcony.
Maybe it could be delivered to the roof? or in the sidewalk? or they might implement a fixture for getting drone deliveries in apartment buildings, similar to the one they have for delivery.
Awesome!
Oh man I wan tot work with you some how.
Partner with malls and outlet malls.
This is actually insane. They did what Amazon said they would 5 years ago.
range?
Their website says a zip can deliver up to 16 KM (10 miles) away.
noise levels? all videos muted the drones.

So how does this replace furniture deliveries? What about heavy packages of dog food? You speak of 5B deliveries and 100xing that.
Can a piece of furniture and dog food fit in the droid?
They didn't say they were going to be responsible for the 100x increase in deliveries, they are talking about how people over the next years will be ordering anything and everything for delivery. Obviously with their current aircraft, they wouldn't be capable of delivering such heavy items. But I would stand to bet that a lot or the majority of deliveries are smaller items like tiny packages, or food deliveries. And this is where their current aircraft shines - it will be able to handle those tiny things like a pro. So what does this mean? Oh, right now that less drivers are required to delivery the tiny things there is suddenly a huge supply of drivers able to make larger deliveries like normal. So, even though Zipline isn't capable of directly delivering those bulky items, they're freeing drivers up to make them available to deliver the increase in bulky item shipments.
Two problems are the aircraft is louder than I excepted and the docking stations are ugly.
From helping people in africa to helping people that are to lazy to get out of their home to get a package. It is a bit sad though.
Wrong. There are emissions and carbon footprints from powering electric drones too. Where do you guys think the electricity comes from? Unicorn dust?
That's true, as well as batteries being hard to make without emissions. Though, more and more buildings hey solar panels to power their equipment.
Also. I've seen a comparason of how much power a zip needs for a delivery, wich is 3x less than an ELECTRIC car.
The electricity can come from renewables...
Yeah pixie dust called renewables😊
See the thing is, even if electricity is currently produced with fossil fuels it doesn't mean that driving an EV or flying an electric aircraft is equivalent to a combustion driven car/aircraft. Every year we install more and more carbon-free electricity generation. Eventually, the majority or all of our power will be produced carbon-free. So now, the existing electric vehicles/aircrafts will automatically be driving around emissions free.
Now let's look at combustion vehicles/aircraft. They are driven by an ICE engine, which means they are permanently forced to use fossil fuel and emit carbon. There is no way, short of an entire refurbishment to an EV platform, to eliminate gas powered vehicles' emissions.
And this is not even mentioning how even when electricity is generated with fossil fuels, the efficiency of the power plant's generation is ultra-efficient compared to an individual car/aircraft's engine. Power plants operate at 33-60% efficiency, while car engines typically run at 20-35%. Electric motors in EVs achieve 85-90% efficiency. Overall, EVs are about 60-70% efficient from power plant to wheels, compared to only 20-30% for gas cars from oil well to wheels. This translates to EVs producing roughly half the CO2 emissions per mile of conventional vehicles, even on today's grid.
It will use 60% less energy (being generous here) and increase deliveries by 100x.
Clear win for the environment! /sarcasm
But I'm actually not against it. Any progress comes with tradeoffs. We will simply have to deal with those, as always.
