Thank you Mr. Murray and the team for creating a masterpiece, V12, manual, under a tonne. in 2024!!! Perhaps there is a God
I don't think I've seen Jay this excited for anything that wasn't a tea kettle on wheels - love to see it!
We want Gordon Murray himself to visit Jay Leno when he gets his T50 delivered, man how I’d love to watch those two having a conversation and geeking out about the F1.
Can you imagine it? Sheer bliss!
If any customer deserves the honor of such a visit, it is definitely Jay.
Same, I’d love to hear those 2 together.
Absolutely agreed
Yes. I hope he does.
I love the interaction of Jay and Dario and the whole Italian/Scottish thing. That car is amazing. The tractability of such a high-revving engine is astounding, and the induction noise was glorious. On a road like they were on, I'd never stop smiling, except maybe to outright laugh.
Never seen Jay so excited to review a supercar as he was with the T.50...He litterally was like a kid who was gifted his favorite gift ever!
He'll probably buy one.
@@melvinburwell8202 *He'll buy one.
That engine run out just never stopped. How could you not giggle???
I mean, the pedigree on this car speaks for itself. If I had the cash, i'd invest in one of these puppies as well.
I understand him. It's like the sequal to the mother of cars
Standing with Dario at Siebkens in Elkhart Lake last year, he held his phone up to my ear and played the t.50 soundtrack of him driving it… I still get chills. Thank you for being such a kind, personable hero (like I imagine Jay to be)
Best guest ever on the channel.
I would watch a race car documentary narrated by Dario.
He actually bought the product he is introducing at full price (3,116,580.60usd) and that, says a lot more than any salesmen technical regurgitation created by a marketing team.
Please have him back on.
He was on smoking tire podcast a few weeks ago then James may
I wonder how much he makes working for Gordon. I would sign a 20 year contract for that baby 😂
He can probably write it off as a business expense under his personal, the Dario F., brand banner.
@@Jeff_Kleini mean his record is already great. A perfect test driver
Agreed. And just absurdly handsome. And that accent! :-)
Dude what an absolutely epic car. The NA v12, the standard trans, the 3 seat layout, all iconic. Phenomenal
You know Jay already has his order in for one. Incredible car! Jay's McLaren F1 has easily appreciated far more than any of his other cars.
He’s not ordered a T50 - possibly a T33
I thought he would have ordered one as it looks amazing next to his F1
@@russ6362 He can't afford it.. /s
He’s worth $450m
Actually he can’t orders for America have not been approved yet long the new f1 McLaren
Hearing Jay’s story about his Countache and Gandini thanking him was priceless.
At last, a performance car meant to drive on roads by people who love driving on roads. "40 to 120 is where the fun is", as Jay often says. "You can change your line with out changing lanes". That's the spirit of driving!
"This is the king"
So are you, Jay, so are you!
So fitting you finally get to see the T50 up close - As you are the poster child of buying an F1 and hanging on to it and USING IT.
I hope you bought a GMA car of each type you were allowed and will keep them all forever!
This is a superb video presentation where Franchitti adds so much color and information, balanced, educational...one of your "classics" where your working knowledge (Mr. Leno) comes across as an automotive expert. Just terrific...I have no idea how many times I will return to watch this presentation!
His gearshifts and throttle control are perfect.
The "automotive expert" asked if the V12 engine has a flat plane crankshaft. Love Jay but he ain't no expert.
"Gordon just hates wings and wants that clean look" My kind of taste in car design, its why the F1 is a timeless beauty, I will never not fawn over that car.
As a Miata owner I'm shocked this car weighs less than it. Insane.
When I thought I couldn't care any less about modern hypercars, this comes along and it is incredible. All the little details, the sound, everything so focused on the experience and usability and ride as a real car. Even wanting the response like carburetors! I've been saying that for years and little boys roll their eyes because they have no clue. At first, I was a little disappointed Gordon Murray wasn't there, but Dario is fantastic. Just watching this was like me at 10 seeing and hearing a Countach for the first time and realizing that cars could be sci-fi spaceships instead of the brown-tone land yachts floating around. Wow.
I’m so glad Jay got his hands on one so that the T.50 gets more of the appreciation it deserves. This is one that pops up on the casual enthusiast’s feed and gets skipped over, but the T.50 deserves all the love it gets.
Jays joy in this video is infectious
One of the ULTIMATE cars of all time! Gordon Murray is without a doubt a maestro of magic when it comes to designing automobiles. It's the perfect blend of form and function. Gordon thinks like the automotive masters of yesteryear who also thought of an automobile in the sense of form vs.function. Names like Coachbuilders Jacques Saoutchik, Cesare Isotta and Vincenzo Fraschini, Carrozzeria Touring, and car designers Enzo Ferrari, Ferruccio Lamborghini, Ettore Bugatti, Ferdinand Porsche, and the many others of the Golden Age of Automobiles. Gordon Murray has no doubt left his mark in the world and will be remembered and honored many years into the future. No doubt his automobiles will grace the halls of the most distinguished automobile museums of both today and tomorrow as people will want to look at these incredible machines which are the pinnacle of automobiles. Gordon shares the legacy today with designers like Christian von Koenigsegg , Horatio Pagani, and many others who are bringing back the coachbuilder style of designing the very BEST OF THE BEST automobiles on the planet. Their passion shows through their incredible automobiles. I like the fact Gordon kept the legendary three seat position that reminds me of the Ferrari 365 P Berlinetta Speciale in the 60's with that same unique three seat with the driver in the center design that Gordon had in his original F1. No doubt he probably took inspiration from that Ferrari 365P Berlinetta Speciale that had the same design. It's incredible that Gordon came up with that incredible fan design in the back which helps to make the vehicle perform like a car with a wing for superior downforce during spirited driving. That rear fan design is a very unique looking design that actually has a purpose on the vehicle. Absolutely stunning automobile and if I were a multi-millionaire, this car would be at the top of my "wish list"!
The T.33 looks even more lovely IMO, beautifully uncluttered, almost tiny like this, G. Murray has no equal today.
Dear Jay, thank you for this great video. About 20-25 years ago, my late mother gave me a present - a book on McLaren F1, it was a big print glossy hard-back'ed history of development and I believe co-written with Gordon Murray. On one of the pages there were about 20 or more design drawings for McLaren F1 shape and this new car reminds me of one of those design drawings. No fussy lines, vents - i think its rather beautiful .. One love from UK x

@@Shadowboost That's it!!! I could not remember the title, thank you!! x
I’ve watched this 5 times already. Just the reving/clapping scene alone…. The best, the best, the best!!!
Lighter than a Miata, and the footprint of a Boxster 🤯 I wouldn’t have guessed it was that small
With a 4 liter V12! Even with half the revs it's so much engine for such a light car.
@@jamesengland7461 Plus the fact that it's a Cosworth V12 like the one in the Valkyrie haha. Two of the most absurd performance machines having a V12 built by the same people is icing on the cake.
@@TheSilverShadow17 RB17 is also using a Cosworth engine, albeit a V10.
@@mikes8928 Indeed it is.
@@TheSilverShadow17it sounds better than the Valkyrie. both sound fantastic but this is better.
When Dario nailed the throttle at 37:30, my first thought was OMG, that thing pulls like the race-prepped Shelby Cobra I drove in 1968. The previous owner campaigned the car for a couple of years and wore out the Ford engine. Building Ford race engines was and is very expensive, so the guy had a Chevy L88 engine with a much hotter cam fitted. Don Larson, the evil genius fabricator of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, made an oil pan with drag link tunnel, and a set of his signature exhaust headers. If you didn’t know better, you would swear the Chevy engine package was a factory installation.
I’m still smiling over the memory 56 years later. And the sound of that Gordon Murray car in today’s episode…Thank you, Jay and Dario!
Lets be honest, nobody watching this will realistically ever actually own one but isn't it fabulous that there are still visionaries out there prepared to create such icons?
This car is the only reason I buy a euro millions lottery ticket 😂
Looks hideous.
@@S.1-I-I-1-1thats your opinion, Gordon wanted a successor to the F1 which their designs are based of 1960’s sports cars. So it would look a little different than todays hyper cars it’s not super aggressive like modern cars but that’s ok the car is brilliant everyone that’s a car nut knows how impressive and important the car is.
@@drsrsv8884yeah sad but true the best things are unattainable today if not super wealthy

Jay is usually not that excitable on joy rides. His demeanor is always as if he's been there, done that in practically every car I've seen him in apart from an occasional smile. This is the first time I've ever seen Jay smiling ear to ear, laughing and clapping... and hes not even driving. Speaks volumes about this car. Its very special indeed.
Gordon Murray is the only one left out there, who gets what pure driving is all about. And therefore he build the best drivers car once again..thank you, Sir Gordon Murray!
Lets see what Newey can deliver with the RB17. He is a rather talented designer also.
@@jackdoe3889its a track only car, so would have to be compared to the t50s… also the rb17 has electric motors so not exactly ‘purist’
SP ............Gordon has a great spokesman in Dario !!!!
Horacio Pagani gets it which is why he's phasing the manual back in
Wrong there are many people out there who get what driving is about Gordon is just a rich dude fortunate enough to put his dream into reality.
I hate videos of this car, because I'll never have one - it's absolutely stunning in terms of translation of vision to reality with every single piece thought through, but all those parts working as a whole to give you something truly extraordinary. I've felt no attraction for cars in the millions before, admired some, respected others, but none have drawn me like this one. That engine too - credit to Cosworth. Thanks guys.

@Farquad76.547 ya but no one else has over 300 vehicles, all insured, and can answer any question you have about each of them. A real car guy who doesn't care about 1000hp or lap times. Jay is second to none.
39:24 eargasm, goosebumps and tears of joy❤️thank you Gordon Murray!
Best sounding road going V12 ever. Has to be. That Cosworth engine is a work of art, and sounds even better! And true to Murray's ethos: it must be a driver's car. Proper gearbox, not littered with electronic nannies. Just pure. Great. I'd have that over any of the fancy hypercars if I could afford one!
Imo, T33 edges it on sound 💥
Original F1 sounds so much better.
Valkyrie sounds better, more character. T.50 sounds too clinical, like a dentists drill or a siren. T.50s sounds like this car should.
@@MuppetsSh0w Of course, since the Valkyrie also has a Cosworth V12 but much bigger at 6.5L compared to 4L.

Keeping the manuals alive!!! We keep hearing manufacturers are cutting back producing manuals due to low demand yet Dario pointed out 97 out of 100 customers ordered manuals.
Impressive just how much Dario knows about the car, not just a figure head for the company.
Jay's voice seems stronger than it has in recent videos, please stay healthy...
Dario is a great spokesman
Sure as hell knows more about his product than the Corvette guy Jay had on recently...
Handsome too
@@macmclemoreThat’s because he’s the President of GM. Many executives only know the surface level of their product lineup; execs are more focused on the high level business aspect / macro economics. Although he just retired, it would have been better if Tadge Juechter gave the run down.
@@_IMNNO I would accept that excuse if the model being discussed was one of the myriad of template/cookie cutter SUVs GM sells. However, this was the premier "halo model" brand new CORVETTE... and seemed to know very little about it. As bad as he wanted us to believe he was all about this Corvette, he failed. Why would his handlers have allowed him to go with the car to Jay's shop? Even Gordon Murray sent a (REALLY GOOD) PR guy to show the car to Jay. Sorry man... Please try harder...
@@macmclemore I’m not defending General Motors; I agree the president did a snooze fest of a presentation. It’s the sad truth that many of their previous presidents and finance divisions wanted to cancel the Corvette program because it was a loss leader. Plus, many of the large automotive corporations rely heavily on their chief engineers or PR to promote a halo product. I believe Mark Ruess just really wanted to meet Jay 🙄. Gordon Murray Automotive and Dario are a small team and class act.
Leno knows his stuff. That clutch shatter in my Firebird was crazy.
Jay is hard to impress ... Well ... That day - it was ... Impressed.
And Jay was definitely impressed👍
Dario! What a character. He's a jokester. Jay really got along with him. Had me chuckling too.
To see Jay laugh and clap his hands when he punched it, priceless. 😊
I don’t think I’ve ever seen him animated in a car quite like that. I also like how he set the record straight immediately. “This is the King”, and how he correctly informed the audience that no other so called “successor” truly is one
Jay looks and sounds great!
This is one of the best episodes I've watched on your channel. The T.50 just looks and sounds amazing. Dario Franchitti is a delight to listen to - so knowledgeable and personable. And so is his Scottish accent and expressions! I particularly enjoyed that because my Mother came from Glasgow, Scotland. I plan to re-watch this episode many more times in the future - thanks Jay!
I don’t remember Jay being this excited about a car. Great episode and I hope he’s got an order for one 🙌
I've never been more impressed with a guest! His commentary was natural, technical and impressive
Pure driving experience- that’s what we want, Jays excitement and smile says it all, given his vast car collection that is high praise indeed.
Of all the crazy supercars that have come out in the last decade, this one by far has interested me the most. Jay's right. It's doesn't have all these extreme angles and styling, but is very subtle and beautiful. Less is more, so to speak. I also love that it's a naturally aspirated V12. Sounds incredible.
man the symphony of the engine in the back ground...
so energetic yet so effortlessly. it`s noticeable all the the time but never forces itself onto you. marvelous.
Ive rarely shed any tears for the passing of folks I didn't know personally. However, with legends, ACTUAL legends passing away left and right it seems with nobody stepping up to fill the voids that are left behind, I have been becoming increasingly aware of just how many icons we have left. Jay, please take care of yourself as I tremble to think what loosing you would mean to our culture.
I am a CVK fanboy but, Gordon Murray just makes something you can’t explain. Holy Sh*t is an understatement. Wow. Just wow.
Jay’s reaction when he rings it out says everything anyone needs to know about this incredible machine. The absolute joy Jay displays is equal to every car he’s ever driven… combined…. And he’s not even driving. If you squint you can see Jay as a little kid taking his first ride in a fast car.
WHAT.A.MACHINE!
I absolutely loved this video. Jay’s enthusiasm for automotive excellence, Dario’s engaging personality and respect for Jay and Gordon is a reminder of how it should be, and finally the T50 is just perfection. Thanks for sharing.
What an absolutely amazing piece of engineering. Just a Masterclass in how to do things just right
That's a perfect analogy.....the right car/cycle ect is like someone is tickling you, you won't be able to stop the grinning and the giggling even if ya tried.
…. Wow, this one brought me tears because our whole family worked in the railroad transport
back in Romania. My dad used to be train engineer on steam locomotives Series 50 and 150.00 back in the ‘60s…
I helped test the HVAC system for this car in one of my prior jobs, I remember the message was to make it perform like the Alpine A110 which was Gordon’s daily driver. All electric cooling and heating, a crazy design!
So are you confident in Top Gear's assessment of the AC in this car being accurate? I suppose GMA would have given an insane weight target.
@@srinitaaigauraI don’t think GM wanted belts off the engine for ancillaries. I’m sure something like was explained in one the GMA videos covering the engine. I’m not pretending I understand the details
What else can you tell us about the car?
Please infodump whatever you can about the experience/process 😅😅
Dario was given specific instructions to bring these back spotless and unmarked. Love how he snatched the tools from Jay has he could sense Jay might struggle squeezing that wrench back in its case where it might going flying into the hood of the car. Too funny….
Every aspect brings me to awe. Beautifully done.
Gordon Murray is to cars what John Britten was to motorcycles..And as a kiwi I appreciate that very much xx
So hope that Jay has one on order- he has done so much to keep the F1 legend alive over the decades, generously sharing content- to have all three in one collection would be special- 🤞
Dario had close calls in his career and watched some of his friends pass away. I wish he was still racing but it is so good to see him happy and healthy after his early retirement.
Superb video. I bet Jay orders a silver T50! But looking at Jay's beautiful black Mc F1, the F1 was way, way ahead of it's time, a timeless design. All three cars are just wonderful, motoring perfection. WOW!!
The starter and alternator unit on this car is a thing of beauty and the way it works. I think it's one of the most advanced cars in the world. Congratulations Mr. Murray. Thanks Jay, this is a special treat of car engineering and results.
One for the ages...I been seeing Jay so tired and lean, and I get nostalgic, but i think, like this episode, he has some good ones yet to come, thank you very much mr. Leno.
Ozempic. I love jay. He needed to lose the weight. However, the side effect from Ozempic is half of the weight loss is muscle. Seniors are having falls. Jay just fell down a small hill. I don’t know if it was a factor. I’d love a tour of the garage.
I have never held back tears looking at a car until now
Dario Franchitti did a fantastic job of introducing this supercar. Sir Gordon Murray did an amazing job designing the T.50. I think Jay has his order in! Only $3M USD.

And imo, who are we to argue with the main man himself, lol.
Thought the same thing, it reminds me of the Porsche 918 Spyder, hard to believe that car is 10 years old, like the F1 it could roll off the assembly line as a still modern car today.
