    I built a d6 and d4 that took me a few hours, and was looking for a simpler way to do it and found this gem. I definitely did not know about the add on, thank you!

    Thank you for the tutorial, it's still helpful in 2022! Just a quick tip for every other new Blender person here: when placing numbers onto the die, try snapping object to face with 'align rotation to target' option enabled. It saved my life when I was working on d20.

    I just spend 30 min making a 12-sides (Dodecahedron). Then... I found this. TY :D

    when i made the difference booleans for the numbers, the solid that the numbers were on was hollow? I didn't get an indent, just a hole that i could see through.

    For people on the newer UI for Blender 2.8+, I restarted after adding the plugin. Then I added the Regular Solid mesh like she did, via Shift + A, and then in the bottom left corner an expandable Regular Solids menu showed up. CHECK OUT THE PRESETS WOAH!

    Hi Kasey, could you tell me how to go about centering the numbers on the face of the die? Also, how would I do this for a d4? I am inexperienced with modeling software and would really appreciate any help you can offer! Thank you!

      I'm pretty sure when I made those I just eyeballed it with the grid. A d4 you could add a cylandar, crank down the verticies to 3 in the left menu and make sure it fills the faces, then go into edit mode and merge 3 of the verts together with alt+M. Glad you enjoyed the video!

    Do you know how to make indents in each side before adding the number?

    Just a heads up if anyone else is doing this, I found that instead of extruding them manually, there is an extrude AND bevel modification that can be performed inside the 'F' text editor menu before you convert it to a mesh. Saves a decent amount of time. I'm still looking for an easy way to position the text on each face. Particles work well (Hair emitter > object as text > one object per face) however I'm still struggling to orient them correctly. All of my dice have the same text on every face though so its a little easier for me. Strange but it's not for the same application as you. Thanks for the info! Good video!

      Any progress on positioning and orientation? D4's are killing me... @Kasey3DSparks maybe you have some tips on this?

    • @JakeSmout
      @JakeSmout 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vsdrake nahh it's very frustrating actually. I've avoided it for a while. I think I'm just going to have to spend a couple of hours making them properly. I feel like there's a neat shortcut for everything these days but I haven't found this one yet

  • @bearfaceben3071

    Sadly, there isn't a d10 in this add-on -- only d20, d12, d8, d6, and d4. But at least this got me 5/7 of the way there.

    It wont let me use my numbers as a object for the boolean modifier any ideas why?

    • @Kasey3DSparks
      @Kasey3DSparks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! If you're using 2.8 or higher Alt+C no longer works for converting Curves or text to a Mesh. In object mode have the text selected and click Object> Convert To > Mesh from Curve/Text. Once you do that and verify your mesh is solid and whatnot, you should be able to boolean it. If you have any other questions feel free to let me know :)
