I’m not even into cars really. But as a young lad of 43 I remember the cosworth well and I’m enjoying watching these videos. My mates dad had a black 500 until someone robbed it the wrong uns. Always loved the recaro seats. 👍🏼

It's about what you'd expect for a 1980's car that's never been properly looked after. Unfortunately many people buy these cars and don't have the money to look after them. This needs a full strip down, acid dip and start from scratch.

I think those blisters are a sign of a bad repaint. I've seen that before when you don't apply a sealer on old paint before applying newer chemistry paints. Yes, it will need a full paintjob to deal with the blisters, but the real issue is that you will have to take ALL the old paint off to make sure it doesn't come back. BTDT - I've restored 9 cars to date and bodywork is the most time consuming & expensive thing. Overall, however, it's in really good shape, not much rust. Still, the easiest way would be to soda blast it, but that would require removing almost everything - a huge job.

I am enjoying the car rebuilds and the Sierra Cosworth is going to be great to watch as you restore it back to it's former glory Rob. You would have known what you were buying into and the fact that there was a good chance that a complete professional respray was going to be necessary with this Cosworth and a fair number of other things to be done as well.
As long as you bought the car at the right price and factored in the necessary renovation costs you won't or you shouldn't go too far wrong with this car and of course the most important thing is......they 'aint building anymore of them.... are they.

micro blisters are usually the result of painting a car on the cheap as in not using an oven, and being painted in a open unit or garage, thats why you dont see them on factory painted cars as they are painted in a controlled environment

Now comes a decision for you - either a good runner and a nice weekend car or to please the trolls and haters a full bare shell restoration - still won't please the 16 year old experts ! A car at 3 years old will have issues never mind 30 ! A wee bit of work that won't cost much will make a good useable classic ! I have a car 20 years and still doing bits ! What a find - Love your videos ! 👍

The paint blistering is solvent pop. It happens when you don't allow enough flash off time between coats of paint.

Hi rob thanks for keeping the videos coming...quick one for you if your editing your videos in iMovie make sure that when 2 different clips join together you don’t have a “dissolve” where they join. Doing this will cut a second of your clip meaning that when you cut to a new clip we missed a second of what you been talking about.click on the button that is between the different clips and click “none” instead of “dissolve.” love the channel great to see it growing day by day
