    Best thing you can do with these old performance cars is drive them hard and make memories, nothing worse than been 90 years old and crapping in your kegs whilst reminiscing about polishing them lol

    What an absolute legend the driver is. I dont get people who upgrade their cars with loads of horse power but drive everywhere at 40mph. This bloke has done it right, more bhp and drives it like its meant to be driven! Love those wheels aswell!

    That has to be the nicest Cossie builds I’ve seen. As it’s not original I think I’d put the front seats in storage and put some race recaro’s in. Love that he even chose smoked rear lights, they really suit the paint. Top marks 👌🏻

    • @andykerr3803
      @andykerr3803 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The seats are actually designed by Recaro. I had the North American Merkur XR4ti, some had much nicer seats, some were with ugly upholstery, they were also heated. I'm sure he will continue to refine and upgrade. A nicer matching interior would be available for few dollars. These cars really fly when expertly driven. One of the most impressive cars, bar none. So many options... Cosworth V8's, big blocks, turbo 2.3 boosted to 3 liters ( not expensive) A fun car if you have expertise... Like this gentleman. Many modified automatic transmission are cheaper and perhaps provide better performance. Even GMs. It did come with a V8 in South Africa. Lots of space everywhere, no clutter. The wide bodies looked insane.
      Cheers 🍻

    I ran a Saphire for 2 years. It was the 1988 Brands hatch pace car, bought through a closed Ford sale. With 310 BHP. Some scroat stole it & burnt it out. Probably the best car i have ever owned. Since then i had a M3, Skyline R33 GTR Vpec, 911 Carreara. Plus lots more. At present a 575BHP Ftype Jag. But there was always something about the Cossy that was great.

    I happened to be lucky enough when I was younger to work at a Cosworth Specialist garage. As a result I got to drive some awesome cars, including a mint RS500 that was seriously modified. Including a group A side exit exhaust. The secondary fuel rail connected and running motorsport injectors with some seriously big amounts of boost.
    Yes, it had massive lag, as did pretty much all big turbo cars back then. But once it began to spool up it was an absolute beast.
    On a test drive around the M25 whilst fine tuning the fuel map for the Zetac 'piggy back' ECU for the secondary fuel rail my boss of the company (who was a fantastic driver and also used to be the technical editor for 'Car and Car Conversions' magazine) actually had the needle on the speedo hitting the 'M' of the MPH at the bottom of the speedo. As the cars had a 170 MPH speedometer fitted to them, even accounting for a 10% inaccuracy the car must've been doing somewhere around the 185 MPH mark. I don't care what anyone says, that is BLOODY FAST!!!! Even at today's standard it's seriously fast. But back in the late 80's it was altogether entirely something else to behold.
    The owner of the car was lucky enough to have one of the mast amazing car collections at that time. Including a 'one of one' special build 3.2 litre Capri that was commissioned and built at Ford's 'Cologne' department and was a genuine Zakspeed shell. The engine was built by Swaymar with turbos from a Williams ex F1 car and far too many other mods to list.
    Best job I ever had when I was younger. Loved every minute of working there!!!!

    • @jasonclark3057
      @jasonclark3057 ปีที่แล้ว

    HAHA, that brings back memories of taking a ride in a mates RS500 Sierra Cossy back in the 90's.
    That wasn't awd either, boost cranked up on the turbo It was just completely undrivable... Strangest thing about the car was it had been fitted with replacement hand controls in place of pedals!
    It was owned by a chap who was involved in an industrial accident that had left him in a wheelchair.
    Think the guy just sent the payout cheque straight to Cosworth, scared the crap outta himself the first time he drove it and just straight up flogged it!

    And that sequential shift add on mentioned.., is it a mechanical to solenoid operation type of deal? I'm struggling to picture how linear movement would get changed to suit withould solenoids.
    Seeing the familiar ease of difting it in the footage answered why it doesn't wear Michelin rubber ...guessing the tyres don't stay around too long,

Lock, Stock 'cause when I watched that I couldn't understand a single word they were saying even though I have loved and studied English all my life. And Snatch when Cousin Avi says: I thought this country was supposed to have spawned the language. So far no one seems to speak it....But when I focus I can get most of it. Anyway great car, great video. More power to you.
