Hi Bruce how much fluid / juice did you have. I'd say a slow cooker is the best way and about 1/3 full. You can add boiling water if the level gets low. I've never had it dry
@@jackjamieson1120 Cheers Jack, i had the ham completely covered with cola (2L) and topped up with water for 2.5 hours, then baked as per instructions, it tasted great but was a bit dry, it was a good joint of gammon, i did the whole the whole thing again 2 days ago with a cheaper piece but covered with foil in the oven for the first 30 mins (still basting) as per recipe and left uncovered for the last 15, it was much more moist this time. thank you for your suggestion re slow cooker, will try that next time, thanks
@@bruceaylward7768 hi Bruce thanks for your kind reply. The slow cooker with its lid on seems to keep the moisture in better. Can always roast for last 30mins or so to crisp up the outside
Really good when people explain WHY they're doing what they're doing eg why the top layer was sliced off etc. Can't wait to try it, thanks!
An amazing recipe, thank you!
This looks really good
What can you do with the stock / veg / drippings after? Can you make a gravy or is it too salty from the gammon?
Normally too salty 😭😭😭
Delicious 😋
Can I make the cooking part on the 24 and them on the 25 the glaze? or should a do all the same day?
Very late reply but yes you can. We do this every Christmas
Followed this every step of the way, sadly my ham was really dry, would it be better to cover with foil whilst in the oven?

Currently making one of these. Does the coke turn into sediment when it's heated? Mine smells great but looks strange
Yes.
Do I need a moustache to do this properly?
Where is HEHE BOI☺️☺️😋🤧
Do we need to see all the veg being cut up ?
Defund this lot 💡😂
Loony
Why not diet cola?
The artificial sweeteners in a diet cola can create a strange chemical taste and it needs the sugar in regular cola to create a sticky glaze.
@GoodFood Thank you for your reply; I do add a marmalade or honey mustard glaze for sweetness anyway, so will probably try diet coke for once and see.
@@MeekEarth700 Weird. Why simmer in Aspartame? Do what makes you happy though
@dannffc Yes indeed, always avoid artificial sweeteners. But then, gammon ingredients can also be problematic. Choose with care.
