I love this kind of tv commercial. It delivers joy to the people.
I just can't get enough of this great jingle/song commercial. I was 16 and a junior in high school when they made this commercial. This jingle/song is a classic and should be in the National Museum. Coca-Cola had to come up with this great jingle/song commercial to combat Pepsi's great jingle/song commercial of The Pepsi Generation jingle/song commercial. In the battle of soft drinks, Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Dr. Pepper and to a lesser degree, Royal Crown (RC) made some of television's great commercials. I am old enough to be a Coca-Cola fan, a Pepsi Generation member and to be a Pepper fan. Of all these great jingles/songs commercial, Coca-Cola is King.

I was almost 5 years old in 1971, how this coco cola commercial back then actually made a great hit. They can actually make others as well but yet it's not the same thing as back then?

Nel 1971 lavoravo per la Recta film nel reparto effetti speciali, ricordo molto bene questi spots pubblicitari. Coca Cola, Birra Peroni, birra Wuhrer ecc.

@@HelloImpress ho lavorato 12 anni per la Recta film dal 1961 al 1973 è mai avrei immaginato che questo commercial potesse diventare così famoso. Il tutto mi rende un pochino orgoglioso.

The song was written for Coke, and the New Seekers also had a non-Coke version.

Wow, how did you find the outtakes?
I found the bulk of the outtakes on a Coca-Cola archive site. These outtakes were not available for very long and there were other things that I missed, at the time. The video was originally a very small file that I was able to expand. I believe that this particular video was taken from a different site, but the original source was the same.

Thanks, These outtakes are from the first aborted commercial attempt and the second filming of the commercial. The fictitious Don Draper does not figure into these outtakes.
Also on my FULL version of these outtakes, Bill Backer (the guy who co-wrote this jingle and was heavily involved in this commercial) can be seen on the far left at 4m 10s. Some people say that Don Draper was based on Bill Backer.

Correct. The footage is from a silent reel - the audio was added without any attempt to synch it to the film.
Mr and Mrs Mc Graw Everybody know their mouths don't match the Song this was done outdoors 51 years ago with people of many nationalities very few spoke English still a great commercial for posterity and human kind for what it calls for unity through love and coca cola in my humble opinion the best ever done commercial just my opinion
