What's interesting is that majority of those who live in the slums don't seem to be unhappy. Filipinos always seem to find joy wherever they are and whatever their circumstance. The generosity is real too. Even those who don't have much give what they can to help.

@@TripTipsPodcast There is the big difference in the "rat race" of some developed countries compared to developing poor countries. In general, many Filipinos still believe in the good teachings of their religion and the good traditional values passed on by their parents. More so in the provinces where development is lagging compared to the cities.

Do you know a lot of foreigners right now chose to stay here for work or for good. Most of them is because of watching SB19, they dig deeper into our country and found out that this is the best place to raise a family. Yes its true that most are struggling financially but as long as we have our family and we have each other, we can survive everything. Hope you visit our country soon!❤

But here's the thing about the Filipinos: Even with the poverty, the struggle, the difficulty of life, Filipinos are very resilient people that as a product, we are indeed among the happiest and most welcoming people in the world. Proud Pinoy! Plan your trip and not be afraid to ask for advice so your trip is meaningful. Alot are willing to give you any advice. Unlike the USA, there will be a lot of 'down' time in a way as the Philippines can be 'slow' in processes and systems. Take that time to relax and enjoy the moment and not 'bitch' in any way, haha! Just enjoy the time! I love cultures and I hope you discover about the Philippines more and more as your trip nears and you leave for the country! It is quite inspirational how you don't just want to visit the Philippines but wants to give as well. I thank you in advance! More than anything, let your hearts be ready to receive the beauty that the Filipinos can offer you! Excite for you both! :D

You can always make things happen in the Philippines. Just coordinate with trusted people or groups for things to materialize. You will definitely need some guidance and assistance to make it easier for you. Filipinos will be there to guide and protect you for sure. Just ask. Hopefully you meet like minded people along the way leading up to your trip over there so you would get the full experience of everything. All the best and have fun on your journey.

Can't wait to watch your videos once you're here in PH. In general, Filipinos are friendly and generous but like elsewhere in the world, there are those who will take advantage of you, being foreigners, so remain vigilant.
Manila will be your first stop. Don't skip it if you want to see the different sides of PH. You may share your blessings with residents of Payatas dumpsite and Smokey Mountain, go on a Chinese Food trip in Binondo (the world's oldest chinatown), embark in a historical tour at Intramuros and Corregidor, indulge in nonstop shopping at the Mall of Asia (one of the biggest in the world), and simply chill in BGC.
Outside Metro Manila, you can explore the mountainous areas of Northern Luzon - Sagada and Banawe as well as the beautiful Mayon Volcano and the whale sharks in Bicol.
Most foreign tourists love island hopping. Oslob, Bantayan, and Malapascua in Cebu (where you can also do canyoneering); Bohol (lots of beautiful places); Coron and El Nido in Palawan, Boracay, and Siargao are the top picks.
Hope you'll have a wonderful time here.

4:31 Ride share prices (we have Grab Car in Southeast Asia because of problems with Uber's registration or something, not too sure) are much higher now compared to when the vid you're reacting to came out. A 20 km (sorry, I don't know miles lol) ride at today's prices averages about 600 to 700 Philippine pesos (PhP), which is about USD 10 to 12. To give context, the national minimum daily wage is PhP 610, with regional variations (poorer areas will have lower minimum wages).

The $3 for 1 hr ride is not the same anymore. And the most surprising part is if you are a foreigner, they charge you higher than the local price. And the 25% of Filipinos living in poverty is certainly inaccurate. It's way higher. The majority of the good comments are just the tip of the iceberg. Just setting your expectations.

It’s great that you guys are planning to visit PI. I enjoy your videos coz I’m a proud Pinoy that grew up outside my motherland for reasons that only my parents knew. I’m sure you will experience memorable moments while you’re there. My advice when you’re there, be humble and kind. Filipinos love those who appreciate their people, places and culture for they are very proud. I’m in my 60s now and I’ve only been back a few times. Being a citizen of another country gave me the knowledge of many different nationalities. Seeing how some foreigners behaved in PI when I went for vacation infuriated me because that’s what I see here everyday. Be amongst them and you will be them and you will be Pinoy ❤️

8:57 Not sure if there's anyone who likes anime here, but in the anime One Piece, the Grey Terminal, a poverty-stricken area near Luffy's hometown of Foosha Village on Goa Island, is apparently based on the Smokey Mountain in the Philippines. It's a literal mountain of trash where people have built shacks on and they live by scavenging in the trash heap for anything they can sell. It's called Smokey Mountain because it's a mountain of trash that looks smokey/hazy due to the bad air quality and smoke from far away.

Before you go to the Philippines, plan your visit. Where would you like to visit? If you visit the Visayan islands, plan where to start which most likely Cebu, which is the usual starting point to visit other islands nearer. Try to watch the Philippine tourism ads: “It’s more fun in the Philippines” and “wake up in the Philippines”. There you’ll have an idea where to go island hopping near each other to save time, money and energy because it’s more expensive, time consuming, and tiring if you island hopped only to realized they’re too far from each other. Unlike in the Island of LUzon, you can travel by bus from the southern most part to the northern most part and see beaches, water falls, and sceneries quite different from the Visayas. In MIndanao Island, it’s got some small islands that you can also visit like camiguin and some provinces like Siargao that are really awesome too but certain areas are advisable not ot visit if you’re not used to our country’s security problems. BTW, IF YOU’RE VISITING IN NOVEMBER TAKE NOTE THAT IT’S STILL PART OF RAINY SEASON IN THEE PHILIPPINES. THE BEST TIME TO VISIT IS MID JANUARY TO MID MARCH/APRIL. I don’t want your vacation to be spoiled because it’s raining and typhoon month too.

Seriously, though, been waiting for this to go live, and I'm glad you guys like what you saw. Nas did great with this one. I just have two things that made me cringe in this video: (1) using the word 'cheap' instead of 'inexpensive' or some other not-so-negative word. Many reactors also pointed this out, and (2) he didn't quite get the essence of the tagline 'It's more fun in the Philippines.' It literally was coined to show the world that no matter what, the Filipino outlook is always positive, and we always, ALWAYS find the silver lining. :)
Looking forward to seeing you guys here in the PI.

thanks for reacting to Filipino artists and for liking our country. like any other country, there are places in the philippines that are expensive like in the cities and there are places that are cheaper like in the provinces. Filipinos in general are hospitable but for some reasons we tend to be extra considerate and generous to foreigners because they're our visitors and we want them to feel welcome and enjoy their stay. it may sounds like we have a tendency to be a bit of a people-pleaser kind of people but the things is we simply want to avoid arguments and we basically want to leave a good impression. but beware coz there are some who will exploit you from like overpricing of their products and services to like scam you even steal something from you. be vigilant...and be patient coz some of our services here are lagging behind compared to other asian countries. It's better you know these things prior your coming here. But i hope you enjoy your stay here. stay safe...

The main cause of the problem is, since Metro Manila is the MAIN HUB of the economy, people from the distant provinces goes here to work and live. And since they don't have anywhere to live here in Metro Manila area, some of them tend to just SQUAT on open lands in the city building shanties to live in. The government got housing projects to relocate these people but then again, a new bunch of "immigrants" comes along and he cvycle continues. During my younger days, the squatting is even worst and we are very pleased with the projects the government did to relocate these people. I am here in Quezon City, coming back from a 25-year stay in Lo Angeles and honestly, I am fed up of city life that I am planning to build a house in our 4-hectare rice field in the province and retire there when my pension in the States starts, and live like a King.
