In the land of South Korea, the blood, sweat, and tears of the brave soldiers of the Philippines fell for their freedom. May the people of South Korea never forget this sacrifice.

South Korea were so lucky to have 1000 brave Filipino soldiers who fought for their freedom against North Korea and China. Whatever success you have right now please never forget that Filipinos had a big contribution in Korea's History. We are hoping that if one day when Philippines will be needing your help you will do the same.

They made movies about Americans and turkish people in korean war but fee only knows that Filipino soldiers are actually the ones who stood their ground at its worst to defend South Korea. They were made the Frontliners but never acknowledged properly.

Very true. Without the Filipinos' incredible accomplishment during the battle of Yultong, not only holding back 40,000 enemy soldiers with only 900 of their own, but actually managing to push them back, giving the reinforcements time to arrive and position themselves, the Korean War might very well have ended with a Communist victory.

I cried watching this😢. I’m sad that we filipinos didn’t get the honor and respect from Skoreans despite the sacrifice of our PETFOK heroes who fought for their freedom. I think it should written in their history in honor of the huge part of their freedom against Nkoreans. If it wasn’t for the bravery and heroic acts of our soldiers Skoreans will never get the freedom and democracy they are enjoying today. But I still love my Kpop and Kdramas ❤😂. It’s not their fault though because it was/is never been written in their history book nor taught in history classes. So sad! My big SALUTE to those filipino soldiers who fought for the Korean war! Mabuhay PILIPINAS!

@@alexpamugas9917 i know you mean well, but be it God from Abraham, Allah for Islam, Buddha for Koreans or Chinese, the gods from the Hindus, or any other gods; what matters is when one believes in them or not as long as they have something to fight for, be it the safety of themselves, patriotism, or noble causes.

After the battle, where 1400 Filipinos defended their position against at least 40000 red army soldier, the famous 5-Star-General Douglas MacArthur said “Give me ten thousand Filipino soldiers - and I will conquer the world.” - he already experienced them in World War 2, where there were similar stories and experienced it there again. He considered the soldiers of the Philippines as the bravest and fiercest soldiers of all.

I really cried many times while watching this video because my late Grandfather, Cpl Rodrigo M Cabogoy, was part of the PEFTOK. I remembered him telling me he got his 2 bullet/shrapnel inflicted wounds on his right leg and shoulder, showing these battle-scars to me while talking about how they saw hundreds of Chinese coming right in front of them, He even told me if only the bullets in their ammunition boxes could inflict more when thrown in mass, they would throw it right at them for their Guns kept jamming due to overheating.... they mostly resorted to bayonets and Bolos whenever they got overrun. I was just 12 years old back then.

Earlier MacArthur received a message from the head General in the US Army command in Washington DC to leave the Philippines, but he ignored it. He didn't want to leave the fight and his troops. Only the intervention from commander-in-chief, President Roosevelt, can over rule him. Defying a presidential order will lead to the charge of treason which is arrestible. Maybe its time to educate the korean people who does'nt know about this history especially the young ones so that they wont end up on bullying and humilliating filipino people. Hopefully this video will became an eye opener for those korean racist who are mocking and bullying filipino people. I hope that it comes to your mind that somewhere in the past there are Filipino ancestors risk their lives just to save your ancestors.

@@Depadoa The division of Korea was actually caused by the Cold War, a power struggle between the USSR and the US. The Korean War was only a proxy of the Cold War. Not defending Americans because they really had a big play in several wars throughout history. However, they were not just the only reason (or country) that caused the Division. In the final days of World War 2, US proposed the division and the four allied powers (China, US, UK and USSR) agreed to proceed with the trusteeship, until such time Korea can stand on their own. However, due to the power struggle, failure to negotiate and the UN failing to provide an acceptable outcome for the Soviet, the country was officially divided into two in 1948: South became a capitalist country in August followed by North as a communist country. The UN led first the election in the US occupied South, which then prompted the Soviet occupied North to follow (assume of position).

The men leading those troops knew what was needed to be done & made smart, effective decisive moves to lead their men with as little casualties as possible in spite of the cold weather & being so grossly outnumbered.

Im chinese japanese. You rarely hear abouy filipinos helping other countries even though they did countless times through out history.
They helped east timor economically when even the americans wanted to have a war against them.
They helped japan right after the war against soviet russia. They had all the right to be angry at us. But no. They fought russia just so japan couldnt be annexed.
And they adopt people who were hunted down by their own country men like the bajao tribes in malaysia and indonesia. As a response they given them filipino citizenship and an island to live at.
And they adopted the japanese who seek asylum during the christian purge. I believe col.Azurin featured in the documentary are the descedant of those japanese people.
I see the philippines as the reliable neighbour always willing to help with a smile even though they themselves were struggling.

It didn't elaborate in the movie that most of the soldiers and officers of PEFTOK are WWII veterans and survived the 2nd world War but gave the ultimate sacrifice in Korea. Capt Conrado Yap and Lt. Artiaga really are heroes.
For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life against overwhelming enemy forces at Yultong, North Korea on 22-23 April 1951. As Commanding Officer of the Tank Company, Tenth Battalion Combat Team, Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea, CAPT YAP at 2300 hours on 22 Apr 1951, was executing a defensive action as an advance element of the frontline defense of the United States Army when an overwhelming superior enemy forces assaulted the PEFTOK positions as a part of the enemy’s general offensive. Upon being informed by his most advance unit that the enemy were rushing in to overrun their hill position and that the leader of this unit FIRST LIEUTENANT JOSE M ARTIAGA JR O-1966 INFANTRY, was hit, Captain Yap, determined to hold their position at all costs, reinforced the trapped unit of Lieutenant Artiaga and fought the enemy for one hour without success. Receiving a personal report from a member of the trapped unit who succeeded in extricating himself that the enemy has already captured the position and that Lieutenant Artiaga and many others were killed, captured or wounded, Captain Yap, in a desperate effort to rescue the lost unit ordered for covering support from the other units under his command and personally led a furious counterattack to regain the hill position and rescue the trapped unit despite an authority that he may withdraw which he has already received. He succeeded in recovering the body of Lieutenant Artiaga and that of three (3) other enlisted men when not being satisfied with this and acting above and beyond the call of duty, he proceeded to assault an enemy emplacement about 300 yards away despite the hail of enemy fires until he fell dead from an enemy bullet. His extraordinary heroism, indomitable courage, calmness and decisiveness won for him and the entire Tenth Battalion Combat Team praises by other allied nations’ soldiers with whom they are fighting side by side in Korea, and will inevitably form a part of the glorious traditions of our Armed Forces."

Hope this video would spread esp in S. Korea so the young generation would know, or better this should be part of video viewing in one of their history classes.
For now, one could at least repost this video as our part of promoting this valuable piece of history to the present generation for them to value & protect the democracy we are presently enjoying...
