Korean who is an American citizen living in New York here. I used to live in the Philippines for over 8 years, and here's my take on the Philippines: I love it. I love the people, food (sinigang, lumpia, Filipino japchae (I forgot the name sorry if I accidentally offend someone), Jollibee, adobo, chicken intestines. Really good.), places, school. It's very fun in the Philippines. Filipinos make really good phở too. I've neevr been to Vietnam, but this is another thing I miss from the Philippines that isn't exactly Filipino. My friends too. I miss them.
First time I went out of the country, when I was still young, we went to London and mainland Europe for two weeks. And the first thing I noticed was that Europeans stared at me whenever I smiled! When we took pictures and smiled and do goofy things in front of the camera, they stared and talked about us, as if we were doing something very unethical! At first it felt weird, but later that trip, I learned and decided that I would not to mind them. To each his own, basta happy lang! ❤😂

As a Filipino, I’ve often wondered how foreigners perceive our culture in the Philippines. Thank you for shedding light on this! I had my suspicions about the insights you shared, but your perspective has truly confirmed my thoughts. I appreciate your coverage, Calvin. It’s always enlightening to hear how our culture resonates with others!
Thanks for shining us in a good light Calvin, you spoke about the traits we have and it makes me realise that i do the exact things you say. Like I'm very supportive of my uncle's Japanese restaurant, i literally advertise it to my friends whenever i get reminded of it, and when i talk to someone it's my insinct to just smile because i'm happy when someone is talking to me.
You are what you like or are inclined in/to, for instance: if you like what is positive, you'll go for it. You notice friendly people, those who tend to try to understand you and wish to be of help in whatever way. It's so human, isn't it? 🥰🙏👏
Functional transport system, good WiFi, good electrical power that doesn't go off all the time, no restaurants that leave food out fo 12 hours before you eat it, strict dog laws and noise pollution laws.
Been to Taiwan, and the things I will take it with me are the organize urban development, the easy and convenient transportation. The honesty and integrity, when someone left their wallets in a public places such as library, grocery stores or convenience stores, someone will bring back or your belongings are still there.
@@calvincastiel5663You need to plan this well. I've seen past vloggers apply for a "media pass" from Iloilo Department of Tourism. Idk if you can do it online or it has to be in-person, but wearing this member of media pass allows you access into some restricted areas(to the general public) of the parade and staging areas, add to it there are reserved sections at and near the front for members of media at the stages where the tribes perform in front of.
Definitely venture out of Manila if you go. The provinces are beautiful and less crowded (still crowded) than Manila. And definitely island hop if you get a chance. Avoid Boracay, beautiful, but it’s crowded and an extreme tourist trap! I’d recommend El Nido in Palawan. Hard to get to, but worth every minute I was there! And of course, the food. The food in the provinces outside Manila is loads better! I’ve eaten Filipino food all my life in the States. But eating the same dishes in Philippines was as if I was having it for the first time! 😋
hi Calvin, great content. do you reside in the Philippines or you're just here for a couple of months and go back and forth somewhere? I remember seeing a video of you before , something about basketball content in the philippines.

the filipino culture has the same culture like it was in western europe 70 years ago, like family values and Religion and Holidays. The food is a mix of chinese, US American, spanish with its own flavor. The filipinos are more layed back thou.
For Filipinas/Filipino women, always keep your culture and don't be influenced by the current western femininity trends... most westerners marry Filipinas because they are traditional women and they do not became headaches for their husbands.

Hello Calvin, I appreciate what you are doing; introducing the Philippines, its people and culture to the world. But to make the answers of the people you are interviewing understandable, meaningful and fair, you should continue asking the first questions; what is your name and where are you from? Then, how long have you been in the Philippines and what places you have visited so far? So in that way, whatever their answers are, to your next questions would be fair. You should establish these things first to your audience or listeners. Like asking the question; what is it in the Filipino culture that you wish to bring back to your country? But what if the guy you are asking, has just arrived or only been two days in the Philippines. How could his answer be fair and credible? So please be fair and prepare your questions, otherwise you will appear like a trying hard propagandist of the Philippines and its culture. I am a Filipino and I do not want to appear as if Filipinos are insecurely craving for foreigners' approval. We are what we are even without the foreigners' solicited approval or appreciation. Thank you for your kind attention.
No worries! God makes TRUTH and JUSTICE PREVAIL! Stay POSITIVE and STRONG IN YOUR FAITH IN GOD! God bless USA, the TRUMP CABINET, and the American citizens, in JESUS' NAME, ALLELUIA! ❤️🇺🇸🙏⭐️👏
You can say that about any city that's not Makati or Taguig. Besides, encouraging tourism in places like Zamboanga means encouraging local law enforcement to actually improve so the economy can improve.
