    The really sad thing is Rob Pilatus would have been so happy to see this happen to him and Fab. It’s such a tragedy that cocaine and alcohol completely killed him and he only got to see the world hate him for being in Milli Vanilli. From everything that’s ever been revealed about Rob, Milli Vanilli’s success was pretty much the only truly happy time of his whole life.

    In Europe, it was extremely common to have other people provide the image for a band or singer. On one of the album covers, it said “visual performances by Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus”. This was considered scandalous in the United States.

    • @RocStarr913
      @RocStarr913 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yes, Americans were largely unfamiliar with this. Up until Milli Vanilli, the biggest American hit single by a lip-syncher had been “Tarzan Boy” by Baltimora and Americans largely still don’t even know that the performer in Baltimora was a frontman. Outside of America though, Rob & Fab was never credited as the singers, nor were the studio singers. On the American records, Rob & Fab were credited as the singers, because their record label in America initially bought the ruse that Rob & Fab were the singers. The American record label completely went along with it ultimately because ultimately music is a business.

    It should have been TPTB who were attacked and criticized, not Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus. Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus should have been given a chance to put out their own music after the truth came out. And the actual singers should have also been able to put their songs out in their names, and even create more music with their beautiful voices.
    I'm glad that this movie is bringing the music back out into the spotlight. I hope it stays in the spotlight for a long while.

    • @RocStarr913
      @RocStarr913 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Their producer tried to continue Milli Vanilli with the actual singers as The Real Milli Vanilli. There was a second album already being recorded when Rob & Fab were fired and exposed. But it didn’t get much traction overseas and no American record label wanted to release it. Their producer then ended up re-recording it with a new group of singers he put together called Try N B, but there was no interest really anywhere. The music had gone out of style. As for Rob & Fab, they did release a studio album in 1993 but no major record label would sign them and the one that did went bankrupt shortly after the album was released. Apart from one great appearance on the Arsenio Hall Show, the record label didn’t have enough money to print record units or promote the Rob & Fab album and it ended up selling only 2,000 copies. There’s actually a documentary and a biopic movie about the duo out now.

    What about interviewing the actual singer that sang those songs ??

    • @RocStarr913
      @RocStarr913 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The actual surviving studio singer Brad Howell lives in Germany and is retired and doesn’t do many interviews. The other one, John Davis, died just a few years ago of COVID-19. The original studio singer for Fab, Charles Shaw, only did one Milli Vanilli song, the first single “Girl You Know It’s True” but was soon fired by the producer. Fab has been very active in the Milli Vanilli legacy, so he and Rob were just as much a part of the group as the studio singers were. Howell enjoyed singing, but agreed to be anonymous in Milli Vanilli because he didn’t want to be in the limelight. Davis was kind of the same, though he did do a solo album for the Milli Vanilli producer a year after their success.

      Would you say that about Rihanna or any other artist who don’t create their music? Ofc it’s not literally their own if they didn’t create it. But they were chosen to be part of it, which means it is their music.

      @@sunnydelight5255Stop acting dumb. Rihanna sings her songs and records it herself. Rob and Fab weren't allowed to record songs by Frank.

    Inside Edition, you should be ashamed of yourselves. You know DAMN well this is NOT their music! Yeah, they were busted lip syncing, but that's not the worst part. They didn't sing these songs, they were just faces. Other artists actually sang the songs. Don't give your viewers HALF of the truth.

      I agree, if you watch the movie ‘Girl You Know It’s True’ the song was already finished he just wanted 2 guys to lip sync it that women desired, it’s a genius plan lowkey

      Rob’s voice was decent. Seth Riggs, a vocal coach that worked with Michael Jackson, said both Rob & Fab were entirely capable singers. Don’t forget that Rob was a drug addict and an alcoholic and that may have marred any efforts to be a good vocalist.
