Hi, i believe as of our last comment that i fixed the trouble. I managed to clean the vontacts and applied dialetric grease to it. It was dirty . Thanks for all your advice and videos
I had the response the next day, but I didn’t contact support directly. I went thru marketing as the bike was donated to my channel. Still a very good response time.
Interesting video. Helps raise my awareness of what it takes to keep my bike in good operating condition. Hope you solved the issue. Looking forward to follow-up videos.
Hey Tim, Good video. I'm glad the connectors needing to be reset seems to have fixed the issue. I know how much you like the Magicycle bike. Have a good winter and I'll be watching from the warm South. We leave Western, NY in 2 weeks and fortunately the RV resort we're staying at didn't get damaged at all from Hurricane Ian so we are very lucky! I hope we're just as lucky and nothing happens to our Himiways bouncing down the highway!
Safe travels! I’m jealous, I always miss riding over the winter. But just for the record…I like both the Himiway and Magicycle pretty evenly. Both have there pros and cons. I just love riding them!
West Michigan subscriber here. Good videos that focus on maintenance and upgrades. What region are you recording from as Fall color in bloom! Do you suspect water or vibration to be the culprit, or maybe a partially broken wire strand along the cable? Seems an intermittent current flow symptom. Enjoy your teaching method. Detailed and good pace of presenting.
I am in the Holland area. I think this was simply a loose motor connector. once I pulled it apart and put it back together the issue resolved. I don’t know that I could say with any certainty what caused the loose connection. Thank you for you comment!
Off topic question, I remember you mentioned this on a different video but can't find it. What is the recommended PSI on the Magicycle bike? Thx in advance.
Hi Tim, can you tell me where you can get the plastic cover for the under bike controller unit? it looks like it might be a useful addition for my Himiway Cruiser 2023. TIA 🙂
I would check with the sellers to verify fit for the 2023 cruiser. www.ebay.com/itm/285035977959?hash=item425d77dce7 or www.ebay.com/itm/184854063136?hash=item2b0a292820
Hey Tim, i believe at this point i have a issue with the plug on controller side. Going to change that and see where im at. As for my question about that as far as the wire like the Magicycle we talked about, the himiway doesnt have that. It goes from the controller to the plug then motor, been to easy if they did that, lol. Have a good one
@@TinkeringTurtle yes, the motor side on mine has 9pins, 3 power phase and 6 tiny pins ariund the three, very fragile. Thats the wire the comes out along with 3 other ones & goes to the motor. Im still learning about these things but the wiring stuff gets me cause its not exactly my thing, lol. Thanks
I have a himiway cruiser and a majicycle cruiser. I'm wondering why I get much better mileage with the himiway than the majicycle. I thought the bigger battery would give me better range. Is there some setting I can change to get better range?
What size battery do you have on your Magicycle? The Himiway is a 17.5ah battery and the Magicycle cruiser is a 15ah battery. That alone would suggest that the Himiway would go further. The Magicycle has a 52v system which gives it more torque/power than the 48v Himiway. I imagine the 52v would go thru more power than the 48v system as well.
@Jennifer Aubin Keep in mind that the “ah” (amp/hour) rating of the battery is the size of the gas tank, if you will. The “V” (voltage) rating of the battery is the size of the engine. Does that make sense?
Hello from sunny Florida Tim; I am having similar but a different issue than what you described, I wish I could have heard the noise your motor was making though. I have an Ocelot Pro, I've had it a year this month, the motor on my Ocelot Pro makes a high-pitched whining noise when the motor is engaged. It has done this since the day it came out of the box, it is a sound that sounds like something needs a dab of no-oxide grease inside that motor. Unfortunately, I don't have any friends that have an Magicycle Ocelot Pro or any other model. Have you or any of your buddies experienced this same mechanical issue? Thank you for your help. Paul
Sorry Paul, I haven’t heard specifically about your issue. My best advice is to try to get a video/recording of it and send it over to Magicycle support and see if they can offer any advice.
Thanks Tim, I'll get a recording of the hub motor sound and upload it to them . Our weather down here in North Florida is just starting to turn to the more pleasant side. I may have to miss a few football games but I'm getting back on the Pedego soon and going riding on the Rails to Trails. Stay safe, see ya through the lens and on the TV Tim.@@TinkeringTurtle
@@TinkeringTurtle i'll let u know if it does. Gonna try a pipe cleaner on my femaleside of the plug, where the three big pins connect two of connections look a little dirty, how i'll never know.
Hi, saw this video . I did tire change in my bike and when i reconmected everything it started making noise. I tried seperating plug and checked it all. Took it for a short ride, everything hing good. Got back to house and it started doing it again. Also.my plug & wire getting really warm using pas. Its never done that scince i started using pas. Any ideas what else besides plug oroblem like u did with this bike?
Sorry, this comment got “held for review”, I just saw it. Unfortunately I really don’t have any good ideas for you. I wonder if you used some dielectric grease in the connection if it would help…?
@@TinkeringTurtle my femal side of connector, the three points thatvcarry the powerload look kinda dirty, gonna try a bottle brush to clean the contacts& yes, dialectric grease too. If not i have the bafang RMG06 motor & pigtail so.it works with my existing controller.
Hi Tim, I have this exact issue, (cruiser pro 52v), I only have 1 connection which I checked. Still have noise. I have had the motor apart to inspect the planetary gears. All appeared in good working order other than normal wear. I cleaned and regressed with no help. Any further info on this issue? Magicycle keeps referring to your vids. Well done with what I've watched!
Well, i cleaned as best i could. Reconnected it. Rode it a little bit, more than the first time. Its still did it some but wire didnt get like it was . Im gonna attempt greasing the planetaries, scince i have 6200mi on it and the connector was dirty.
Thanks for the review. I take it you think Magicycle is better than Himiway? Ive got close to 10k on my cruiser and no motor problems whatsoever, battery is getting weaker however. I would love to find a generic battery for this because Himiways batteries seem to be quite expensive.
Hi Richard, I don’t know that I could say that one was better than the other. I think both have their plus’s and minus’s. Honestly I am a fan of both. Magicycle does have a good support group though. As far as the battery there are quite a few options available on Aliexpress. Here is a link to one of them: www.aliexpress.com/i/2255800353659949.html I hope this helps!
@richardm As far as I understand, they just clip in to the existing mount. At least that is what people on the Facebook groups have reported. Also if you poke around on aliexpress, you might be able to find a 20ah option. I “think” they are also interchangeable, but be sure to verify prior to purchasing.
Ok, reassembeled it all after greasing the gears. Still makes its noise. I had it apart and could feel it as i rotated the clutch. The controller wire goes from the controller to the motor plug so its just that connection. Gonna swap in the bafang. Even the plug got warm on a 1000ft ride

One more thing they respond within seconds. I am so happy with them it would be foolish not to consider them first.

They did me right. On my Crusier Pro motor. That's what was my problem. The key was shorn on the input pinion on the planetary gear.

To be clear, the 10 pin connector isn’t the same as the motor wire. The 10 pin goes up to the display, etc.
