      Ya, the timing on this video turned out exceptional. We were at peak colors, or maybe just slightly past. And the temps were indicative of an Indian summer. Made for a beautiful video!
      Thanks for the comment!

    I got my Ocelot Pro in September '22 and I LOVE it! I opted for the Army Green and I'm glad I did. It looks cool and distinguishes it from other ebikes. Plus, a lot of accessories such as the new cushier seat and panniers have green accents available, so it looks really put-together.
    You did a great job in these two videos explaining everything. My Ocelot didn't have any issues when I got it. One thing nobody ever mentions is how thick and rigid the down frame is. It is significantly thicker than any other step through I've seen. Though it adds some to the weight, I think the thicker frame will prevent any future weakening. Magicycle did a wonderful job in engineering the Ocelot.

      I appreciate the advice. But being raised in the Pacific Northwest I have never really got into the snow sports much. I have a good set of boots, that works for me.
      And the idea of riding on snow and ice doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest… 😉

      @@TinkeringTurtle 😁 I was referring to snowshoes for your feet. I have seem those videos where they put studded tires on dirt bikes and ride on frozen lakes & in snow. That's not for me! Walking I can do and I've found snowshoeing to be quite fun. The newer lightweight styles of snowshoes are far easier to use than the kinds that were around when we were kids.

    I can confirm that the newest version of the Ocelot Pro as of 4/18/23 does some with a firmware upgrade that allows you turn on "cruise control". It is off by default and is under the menu as 'Set Pace', again this is set to off from the factory. Also they have cut the rear fender where the chain in position of 1 of the gears would possibly rub.

    I just found your Channel today and really like your content. Im looking forward to watching and learning more from you.
    If you could give me some of your thoughts on what im thinking
    Im 5'7" now 370 but am and have been losing. Im wanting to get the step thru 750 watt bike (not the ocelot pro). The pro is out of my price range. I need to add exercise but my knees just won't let me.
    I'm hoping with the 750w and excellent torque of this bike. It could still pull me as I get to and below the 350 lb Max load. Without breaking the bike. I also realize that my range will not be as good. Am I crazy for thinking this?

    • @TinkeringTurtle
      @TinkeringTurtle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would definitely push you towards a bike with a similar configuration to the ocelot. It is easy on and off for those with bum knees.
      I think Magicycle offers a regular ocelot, but without some of the accessories. It would be cheaper…
      Here is a link to that listing:
      shrsl.com/46hfi
      Another bike that I think would work well for you is the Himiway big dog. it has a 400lbs payload and more importantly doesn’t have a spoked wheel. So it is stronger. But the price is still around $2000.

    Like you mentioned, I added the adjustable stem. My concern is because I raised the bars about 3”. Do you think I can still and the front rack., as there is not a lot of front brake cable slack? Thanks

    • @TinkeringTurtle
      @TinkeringTurtle  หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is no guarantee. If you get the front rack, and the cables aren’t long enough you would need to go thru the process of extending the cables and brake lines. Not always easy, you may want to get a local bike shop to help with that. you can get cable/wire extensions on Amazon. But hydraulic or cable brake lines are a little trickier.

    Tim, I enjoy your channel and appreciate your expertise/knowledge on ebikes. I have a question I hope youn can help me with. About a month ago my wife and I received our ocelot pro's from magicycle. One worked perfectly, the other, not so much. on the first, you can set the cruise control at what ever speed you like, then use peddle assist to whatever degree you choose. Works great. On the other, you can also set cruise control at whatever speed you like (5mph, 10, mph, whatever), but as soon as you attempt to peddle assist, the bike just accelerates like crazy. Peddle assist is not possible at all, irrespective of assist level or gear used. I compared settings on both bikes, they are exactly the same in every respect, but the bikes react differently, as dsescribed above. Do you have any idea how this can be overcome/corrected?

    • @TinkeringTurtle
      @TinkeringTurtle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On my Ocelot the cruise control only works when not pedaling. Once I pedal the cruise kicks off, sort of like a car with cruise.
      I am not certain why your bikes would not behave the same. Unless there is a “hidden” setting only Magicycle has access to.

    • @gomerwd
      @gomerwd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TinkeringTurtle On the bike in question, the cruise does kick off when I start pedaling, but then begins rapid acceleration that if I did not apply the brakes, it would continue to maximum speed. I can't see how maximum distance could be achieved unless you could assist by pedaling. The other bike works wonderfully to achieve great distance, ie, I set cruise at say, 15 mph, then pedal assist in 7th gear, using very low watts as indicated on the monitor. I have logged over 70 miles doing that. On the bike in question, not being able to assist (or get any workout at all), the battery is depleted much quicker, and the distance possible is much, much reduced. Does your bike continue to accelerate when you start pedaling?

    • @TinkeringTurtle
      @TinkeringTurtle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No it doesn’t. When I start pedaling the bike accelerates normally based on my PAS settings.

    Had a problem with my Ocelot Pro, working with Magicycle to fix it. We’ve changed the display, the controller, the harness, the cadence sensor. Bike now runs in throttle and pas mode but it runs at full speed regardless of pas settings. Even runs at pas0. Still displays code 30 and also doesn’t update distance or anything related to it. I’m wondering if the controller they sent me was faulty? Appreciate your thoughts! Been down for about 6 weeks. Sure would like to get back out and ride again! Any help appreciated! Thanks

    • @TinkeringTurtle
      @TinkeringTurtle  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As you probably know, error code 30 indicates a communication problem between the screen and controller. You have replaced all the components (display, controller and harness) that would be connected with that issue. I’m not certain what else you could do. Maybe pull the connectors apart and see if any of the pins are bent. But I would guess that isn’t the issue. Was the controller they sent you new?
      This definitely feels like a bad controller or possibly display… sry I couldn’t really help.

    Hoping to find what kind of range people are getting with a full charge and "typical" peddling. We have a couple of Rads and 2 Bagibikes. My wife and I get about 32-35 miles before battery runs out.

      @TinkeringTurtle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Curt pederson I will say I put on 30 miles and had about 40% battery left on the first charge. I would expect that to improve as the internal cells balanced out. But without testing it for a few weeks I simply can’t give you a definitive answer.

    Have you experienced ghost pedaling? Looks like it will become your wife's ebike! 😁 Thank you for your videos!

    • @TinkeringTurtle
      @TinkeringTurtle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I find that if you ride faster than, say, 18mph or so then you will likely experience ghost pedaling. But at lower speeds it is not as much of an issue.
      Either way you can, pretty easily, swap out front cranks to get a better pedaling experience at higher speeds.

    • @rickyrox341
      @rickyrox341 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Ocelot Pro has a lot of programmability. It comes with the Pedal Assist set at 5 speeds and PAS 1 is set from the factory at 50% and the remaining 4 are incremental from there up to 100% in PAS 5. You can program up to 7 PAS levels and the percentages of each level. I set my PAS 1 to 25% and 40% on PAS 2, incrementally up to 100% in PAS 5. The wheel size is programmed for a 22" wheel, and I was able to change that to 24 inches, which also helps. Ideally, for accuracy, they should have a setting for a 23" wheel, but it doesn't give that option. These things all help to minimize the Ghost pedaling and if you wanted to eliminate almost, if not all of it, you could use all 7 PAS levels. What little Ghost pedaling I've experienced has been minimal and not a real concern for me.
      I'm close to Tim's size and weight and I've put about 300 miles on mine. I've had other ebikes and before buying the Ocelot Pro I did a lot of research before settling on the Magicycle Ocelot. The company has excellent, responsive customer service and a very good reputation. I LOVE my Ocelot and highly recommend it to everyone.

      You might want to checkout the Lectric Bike 3.0 if you want great deals at $1000. To me the bikes are similar. Now that said, if detail is important, you'll have to fork out the extra $900 for this Ocelet Pro. The difference is in the torque, battery, brakes and handlebar setup. But they are not huge differences. But that said, you will notice the difference, so if you have the money, I'd get the Ocelot. If you're on a budget, you might want to check out the Lectric Biike 3.0 at $1000. It offers a bigger bang for the buck in my opinion.
