Been watching Delos for years and years, this is one of my favorite series of the project. Watching Brian turn into a shop-hand welder has been a real treat.
I've been watching a few aluminum sailing boat builds on TH-cam recently and have to say that your builders are great craftsmen and welders. Plus, they seem like very nice, fun guys to work with.
Getting closer to the flip. The build is looking fantastic. And they say us Aussies don't know anything - just goes to show doesn't it. Great work Dan and Team - as well as the Dalos 2.0 team.
Flip is coming up not next week but the week after, can't wait to share that with you it's crazyyyyyy!!! Thanks for following along on the build with us and stoked you're enjoying the vids!
I never cease to be impressed with the engineering that went into the boats design. Watching it being built is fantastic. I can see a documentary on building an aluminum Catamaran coming some day.
Awesome Aussie tradies doing an amazing job. You have made a great decision getting your new home built there. Seriously awesome fabrication skills on display.
I have watched you repair fiberglass (in the olden days) and Nikki & Jason too. This welding and fabricating and finessing the materials is fascinating. It makes me think of how aircraft carriers or skyscrapers or aircraft is made. Amazing how people can take raw materials and make precise pieces and precisely fit them together. WOW!
Brian, I am a welder, fabricator and have built cars, motorcycles and airplanes, nothing this big. I find this series VERY cool. You cannot show too much detail, keep up the good work!!!
Brian& Kazza, As a builder, and craftsman, i am enjoying this series so much. Delos 2.0 is going to be such an amazing creation. Dan is such a master boiler. YOU GUYS ROCK!❤❤❤

Brian and Karin hi from Alberta, Canada. From watching the build of Delos 2.0 and a number of other projects who have also chosen to use Aluminum it is very clear why. The precision of building with it in combination with the right manufacturer make the choice obvious. I can't wait for the lift and flip. Can't get enough of the detail shots and explanations. Thanks for making the subscriber feel like we are somehow part of the build.
Ahoy to you in Alberta! So glad you're enjoying the videos, and yes we are falling more and more in love with Aluminum as we go! Flip is coming very soon, not next episode but the one after, and it's a DOOZIE! Such a crazy experience can't wait to share it with you!
Over the last decade I watched SV Seeker build a steel sailboat, Sampson Boat Company rebuild a wooden sailboat, Life on the Hulls build a fibreglass sailboat and now SV Delos build an aluminum sail boat. Love them all.
Haven't seen the SV Seeker but we definitely checked out a bunch of the Sampson Boat Co vids, such a cool project! Glad we can bring a new perspective with the aluminum side!
I'm not sure SV Seeker can legitimately be called a "sailboat." It has sails but can't sail. It has a motor, but the drive train grenades every few hours of runtime. The quality of construction is not anywhere close to the other boats you mentioned. I've never really followed SV Delos before, but I'm going to subscribe now. Very watchable.
This is one build that I watch from start to finish ... can't get enough of it. Well done guys and a big applause to Dan and his team. We live on Bribie Island just North of you and have been following you both since you left NZ all those years ago. Keep up your excellent work.
Wow, this is amazing. This is going to be the coolest catamaran. Just knowing that you built the entire boat is incredible. Love watching your videos for years now. Keep up the awesome work, the reward when your finished is going to be so cool.
Thanks so much Travis, we are so looking forward to the first sail! But loving the whole process and learning so much. Glad you're enjoying the videos and thanks for coming along on the journey with us 🥳
Another great video guys. The anticipation for the flip is driving me nuts. Your explanations, and Dan's, of what you're doing are the best. On and on...
Thanks Dave! The back has been feeling pretty good these days! Taking a bit more care and babying it still but haven't been back on couch duty again so definitely worth it!
@@svdelos I am a Computer Tech Writer Professional so I had to sit on the desk and chair for long hours. I had the same problem. How I fixed my back is by implementing the Indian method of using low pillows and hard beds or sleeping on the ground. So thin mattresses on the ground helped me a lot. :) Also, it didn't take much for me to cultivate the habit of sleeping on my back than on a side.
Awww the new intro is amazing - the song is like a soul song, I feel homecoming when I hear this every time! Not even watched the episode yet lol just excitedly commenting 😅

Plukky is an absolute legend that we had the pleasure of spending quite a bit of time with in Panama a few years back. Will definitely have to check in on his build vids and see what that crazy guy is up to, we LOVE HIM!
@@svdelos no arguments from me there. Absolutely loved watching your time in Panama. He’s a bloody legend that Plukky. But I knew Brian would get a good chuckle from his last couple of latest vids.
Thank you for sharing your experience building your new boat with us. What a great experience, you are blessed with the opportunity and the ability to help make this beautiful boat possible. Also the boatyard and the people that work there are one of a kind. What an amazing project. Cheers
Of all the boatyards in all the world, you end up walking into this one. The one where nothing is too much trouble, where doing it over is OK, where 20 metres of sheet alumin(u)m all comes down to one or two millimetres of fudge factor. And, on the high seas, when Brian sees or hears something at the dead of night in a terrible storm, he will know exactly what that 'something' is because he was part of the team that put that something exactly where it was designed to be put. With love, skill, passion and a millimetric rule!
Totally! They really are the best! And 100 percent agree, that's one of the main reasons we wanted to be a part of the build to know every inch of the boat inside and out and have the highest level pride in ownership. Can't wait to get her out on the water and put her to the test!
Incredible progress you are making. So .much goes into building a boat. Nice to see those beefy parts becoming part of the build. After all those miles in Delos, what a tremendous change for the Delos team. Space can be a beautiful thing.
How do you relieive all the stresses of assembly on the boat? There have been lots of pulls, pushes, and hammers everywhere. I learned a new phrase in this episode, and it's a keeper. 😉
I see you're borrowing an editor from Operation Drenched, good choice! Why didn't you run a tarp from the building to the extension wall to cover the sugar scoops & keep out the rain? You should do a segment on the welders used for the build & how you adjust them for various types of aluminum & or joints. It would also be nice to explain where & how the hull will be moved for fitting out after you finish welding the upper decks.
Picked up a die grinder today and got my welder out after watching this for a little fab project of my own. Since it was just me I got to pick the eyes out it ;)
It's quite impressive to see over 30,000 views after only 4 hours!!! I hope that TH-cam is contributing a good amount to the kitty for the build! Things are looking good on the build, it's coming together nicely!!
Line the inside of the longeron with a piece of UHMW-PE sheet(Tivar), this material has ultra high abrasion resistance, super tough, will deaden the noise of the anchor chain, does not absorb water, and is inert to most chemicals. Tivar scraping blades are used on snowplows so they do not damage driveways, but scrape all the snow down to the pavement, they are highly abrasion resistant.
Kazza -- If one listens carefully, it's clear that you're picking up some Oz accents here and there. Good on ya, Mate! But the best thing for this Yank is hearing Dan say "laser level" at 17:29 -- that's poetry!
"...nailing these precise alignments..." I learned a great deal while helping my uncle build his house, especially knowing where to start and how every wall had a proper start point from which everything flowed smoothly. Same with floors, ceilings, roofs, plumbing, electrical, water, HVAC, sheetrock, sheathing, shingles, siding, windows, doors, cabinetry, finishing... If one begins where one thinks one should begin, but it's not the best place to begin, the errors are compounding. I know aircraft construction is as much art as it is engineering, and I suspect shipbuilding is the same, hence the term "Master" before most specialties: Master Machinist, Master Welder...
These build videos are awesome! 'tsall comin together nicely. Some great photography too - I especially dig the view from behind the green weld shield like at 19:02 It would make a great little photo memory of the build, or chachki, to hang in some quiet place on the boat when she's finished. But that's just me :) Cheers!
I look forward to these videos every week! This build has been absolutely fascinating to me. Apologies if I missed this in past videos, but what is the projected dry weight of the final build?
Kazza, as a french I confirm, longeron is a french word. French architects invented this when the first catamaran appeared in the transatlantic race in seventees eightees

Better watch-out sailing in to Freedom are building his. I can't wait for you both to race the boats when finished.
I love it when a plan comes together!
One of the best feelings!
Impressively insightful about the need for insulation based on that observation Karin!
Great to see another progress video. Hope your back is better and well.
Incredible build. I'm at a loss for words on how awesome this boat looks!!! I'm sad I gotta wait a week for more!!!
Awww the new intro is amazing - the song is like a soul song, I feel homecoming when I hear this every time! Not even watched the episode yet lol just excitedly commenting 😅
G'day from Sydney! Absolutely love everything you're doing! Keep it up guys 👏👏
You two look so happy. Life is good.
Amazing Edit ! super clear, enjoyable and easy to watch. Waiting for more sea life style videos
You guys are lovely, the catamaran build is fascinating, but personally I’m fan-girling over Dan ❤😘
Best BOAT BUILD VIDEO on TH-cam! So REAL - and GREAT Advertisement for Aussie ingenuity! 👍👍👍🚀🔥 and how a Software guy can learn a vital skill!
Great series, enjoying it. Good decision to do this build!
WOO HOO Darling Sierra & ya'll it looks stunning! Love & hugs 😍🙌💖💖💖
Absolutely a fabulous episode, team‼️💥💥 Looking forward to the flip. See you next time. ✨🌊💨⛵️🏝️👙🌞✨
I just heard an Aussie twang in your piece to camera when you said “so” Karin. So good!
its so cool watching you guys build this vessel.
A huge step forward! Great work y’all
Hi guys, wonderful to see Delos 2 point O is coming together so good. Bit of a shame you don’t have a get together with your people that are watching the videos on the GC. I only live in Logan. Be wonderful to catch up with you guys. Anyway keep up the good work , always love videos. Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺
Hey Brian, are you aware you’re in a race with Plucky? 🤣
He’s a funny bugger.
The builds coming along nicely guys.
Go give Plucky some love.
I keep searching to see if you’ve commented on his channel.
I’m not taking sides though, love you both.
OMG didn’t know Nerea was editing in Delos!! Great job girl, I watched it straight till the end
Thank you for sharing your experience building your new boat with us. What a great experience, you are blessed with the opportunity and the ability to help make this beautiful boat possible. Also the boatyard and the people that work there are one of a kind. What an amazing project. Cheers
Amazing..Built like a fortress..no bulkhead worries with this hull!
Brilllllliant Delos - thanks for sharing ⛵️ 👍
So great to see you guys! Love from Ontario Canada! ❤
How do you relieive all the stresses of assembly on the boat? There have been lots of pulls, pushes, and hammers everywhere. I learned a new phrase in this episode, and it's a keeper.
😉
Great video!! Love the editing!
Such a great vid! Thx for sharing an amazing and interesting process. Can't wait for the finished product. Cheers from up over. :)
Nice to see you using the swedish speedglas helmet with the super nice ventilator.
Love your canal! Keep up the good work.
Great progress guys, the work is outstanding. So happy it's going great. :)
Yay Finally. That was a long two weeks waiting for this episode but totally worth it.
Love this boat build! Been a great ride so far watching the new home come together.
super cool process
I see you're borrowing an editor from Operation Drenched, good choice! Why didn't you run a tarp from the building to the extension wall to cover the sugar scoops & keep out the rain?
You should do a segment on the welders used for the build & how you adjust them for various types of aluminum & or joints. It would also be nice to explain where & how the hull will be moved for fitting out after you finish welding the upper decks.
Great production.
Thank you for an amazing video part of your journey!
Thanks for another awesome episode as usual, loving the build series
Picked up a die grinder today and got my welder out after watching this for a little fab project of my own. Since it was just me I got to pick the eyes out it ;)
It's quite impressive to see over 30,000 views after only 4 hours!!! I hope that TH-cam is contributing a good amount to the kitty for the build! Things are looking good on the build, it's coming together nicely!!
Absolutely loving these build videos!
Enjoyed your thoughts and reactions to the things in the environment around you.😀
Beautiful technical video. Well done to all in the making of it.....
Another great video. Happy for you guys. Keep them coming.
Yes, those are some VERY impressive pieces of aluminum.. !
I love this build series. Cannot wait to see how it turns out along with the places you feel comfortable going being it’s aluminum.
Hey Chris, thanks so much for the recommendation will check that out!
Incredible stream, thank you
Kazza -- If one listens carefully, it's clear that you're picking up some Oz accents here and there. Good on ya, Mate! But the best thing for this Yank is hearing Dan say "laser level" at 17:29 -- that's poetry!
I taught myself how to weld years ago. Today, I'm a certified grinder operator 😂
I am impressed by your work beyond measure.
Thanks!
Thanks for explaining those parts.
Oh cool! Thanks for the little history lesson on that, super interesting!
5:42 - Minor detail.......but when Kaz said 'so' it was totally with an Australian accent. #converted 🤣🤣
When NO turns into NAAROUGH - then we have a problem 😁😁
So exciting it's starting to look like a boat!😍
