      We are always inspired by Delos - love your journey, appreciate your authenticity, joie de vivre, boat and house work, dives, family, friendships, nature, ecology, engineering, kit and vendor info, travel, culture, adventure, art - everything you share. Love the new above and below sea level design on your shirt and travel cup. What I want for Xmas is to buy that design as a sticker I can put on my laptop and gift to others - please consider. Thank you for lifting my spirits every week - you feel like part of our family. At the end of every video we say “woo hoo” with Sierra! Thank you Delos!

Those hatches are verra sleek.

  • @ericpro5968

    A big dream is often a big sacrifice!
    A lot of work, a lot of money, a lot of stress, and sometimes, fortunately, pure happiness. You wake up thinking about the boat, go to sleep thinking about the boat, you live for the boat. The boat becomes the absolute priority, and every detail on board is important!
    It's not always easy, especially with children. For me, offshore sailing is either heaven or hell! Today, I no longer have a boat and now live happily on land, cozy by my fireplace watching the snow fall with my wonderful grandchildren. Your videos remind me of that time in my life. No regrets, both lifestyles have their advantages and disadvantages. Sailing is truly fantastic for many things, but with time and a growing family, it becomes very complicated. Fair winds, and I'll follow your adventures with great pleasure!

    One suggestion, as an infrared thermographer. Make access points to the deck wherever you have bolted joints on your buss duct. IR cameras are getting inexpensive enough that they've become a great diagnostic tool for loose electrical connections.

    • @bt-pq1gs
      @bt-pq1gs หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Tom- that's an interesting idea. I'll look into that. The design also has numerous N2K connected temperature monitors, which means I can get real time temp and voltage measurements at multiple points on the bus and set different alarm points within the boat system. It should help to log the data and follow the trends, which could identify any potential issues. But I'd also be keen if you have a recommendation on a specific camera.

    • @tomwilliams8675
      @tomwilliams8675 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @bt-pq1gs I went to the FILR school in Boston for my training, so I'm partial to their equipment. During my time doing inspections, we also installed IR windows that would allow the camera to see inside but not allow intrusion. I worked in high voltage testing and maintenance, I retired a few years ago.
      I look forward to electrical systems install. I'm sure you've got some great ideas.

      I think a lot of people have doubts about those busbars. Don't know why they opted for this. Thicker gage cabling (95 mm2 per engine based on 48v and 20kw peak output) in their own conduits would've been repairable (with tracer wire) and certainly more isolated. I hope they keep this accesable.

    Wow....how cool was your trip to their shop? Learning how they make your hatches and the extra thought they put into their products? They listen to their employees and customers. I think you guys did a great job picking them. Your time in Truckee looked epic!!!!!

    Brian, cool bus bar idea but just a couple things to think about. Bus bars, just like wires can heat up and cool down causing them to get bigger and smaller. This becomes a problem where there are joints. I am not sure what bolts you used at these joins but if they are a different metal, hardness and thermal expansion characteristics they can dent the bus bar and create localized heating at the joint due to connection loosening over time. The heating, in worst cases, can make the bolts glow red hot causing a fire. So you need to be able to access these connections and check bolt tightness periodically. I think you oversized your bus bars, that’s a good thing and may eliminate this concern but you don’t know until you know. You also may want to add temperature monitoring at each connection point to allow you the ability to monitor these connections over time. Hope this helps, sail on.
