Love your coaching vids. Unlike a lot of others on you tube, you take into account that there are some of us and not just older golfers - I’m in my 60’s and only started playing in my early 50’s - who can’t actually swing it like a pro because we are not as flexible. Thanks for keeping it simple.
im 63 and started at 50, admit i do some golf related strength and conditioning work and was a reasonable all round sportsman. But i find moving.rotating, flowing whatever you want to call it and using my torso and lower body, puts a lot less strain on my back and joints than stuff like keeping your head down etc
My bad shots tend to be on the thin side, but I definitely think I'm releasing the club too late in the swing, when I FEEL like I'm releasing the club earlier in the downswing I definitely get a cleaner strike.
You’re right. I’ve been watching a lot of Pete Cowen instruction the last two days. It feels foreign but I get it. I’m still unclear on his Driver release per se, but yes, with the irons it is different. Headed to the range to try things out.
It’s criminal Andy you are on only 70k subscribers, mad. Have you thought about doing more matches with other TH-camrs, good standard celebs and pros? I feel adding more entertainment as well as the great coaching tips may help? Come on none subscriber watchers, hit that button!!
this is exactly what i am struggling with. i am being taught to square club face with rotation but with having a ruptured pcl in my left knee. am struggling to with confidence rotating. great video Andy. glad to know its not a bad thing to rotate club face.
Tried the feet together drill today at the range. Made a difference straight away and was striking the ball better as a result. Great stuff again Andy.
Great video Andy on releasing the golf club! I really like your 9 to 3 drill with feet together. This will definitely give you feed back on how you are releasing the club. I use this same 9 to 3 method on short pitch shots to the green! Good Job Andy!
the better ive got the more releasing influences my swing, esp my backswing!,when im striking it well im already thinking of my release as i move the club away,at the mo this feels like a long rugby pass just right of target! ive got my hcp down to 6 starting late on life. The only practice aid ive used is a yard of thick rope! which has helped train my body to release the arms
This is exactly what I was looking for, much appreciated, Andy! I started doing the 9 to 3 drill & it has helped a bit, but I was in a normal stance - I'm going to have to do it with get together now! Thank you so much for answering my question, it's going to help my game a lot!
Working on getting my lower body & hip turn timing, I've actually been getting my hips turned too early, something I think these drills will also help with! Cheers from Utah at 5,100 feet elevation!
Since you're taking requests I'd be interested in your thoughts on the best way(s) to make the takeaway from your experience and what you think Pete Cowen would say is the best way(s). (Spiral Staircase? Wring the towel, and push down on the handle? Swing on a 45* angle? Something else?)
Great stuff Andy - well demonstrated as always. Every now and then, I go off line and end up trying to hit a wee, punched, low-flying shot to get out of trouble. Could you do a vlog on that shot please? Cheers
Hi AC, please keep the content coming. Love these videos. Can you consider doing a video demonstrating how to flight the ball (low flight, standard flight, high flight, sky high flight, and punch) with a sandwedge from between 30 to 80 yards. I know you can use lower lofted clubs but they can be difficult to get the get the correct yardage and ball control from them distances.
I think the modern fast rotational swing has created a lot more back injuries. You look at the swingers like Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus , Phil, Mickelson, and others and you notice they’ve all had long careers with no back injuries. I don’t think the modern swing is right for the average golfer. I’d like to see more content on being a swinger instead of a hitter.
are you going to be doing a Vice Golf ball review anytime? or potentially show off your new irons? Great content, thank you for all the tips and advice to improve at this great game
doesn't the club release itself if you don't interfere in the swinging of the club?? Club manufacturers send billions yearly so it will naturally swing toe up to toe up ( as long as the golfer allow the club to swing )
Andy, Pete cowen has said there is no hand manipulation in the golf swing, with you he said that Rory and tiger are two of the best manipulators in the game, clearly you are showing a lot of manipulation. Why did Pete ever say there is not hand manipulation
The momentum of the (heavy) clubhead takes care of the release. You should known this. There is nothing to learn or practise about. Thats the reason you need to be relaxed in wrists and forearms.
This is bad instruction. The body controls the path. Supination of the forearms and the wrists control the face. Source: many interviews with tour champions, top coaches like Pete Cowen and gears data. If you try to square the face purely with body rotation, you'll pull the path and replace one problem with another.
It isn’t bad instruction. What you have mentioned may be theoretically correct to a point but not all golfers can do it so this is an alternative. Too many golfers spend time trying to do moves they cant do.
The release is simple. Let us not make it complicated. The swoosh drill shows how automatically the release takes place. Just listen to Hogan. It is simple. Body release is crap.

Thanks Andrew. Glad the videos are helping and are relatable 🙌🏽

superb teaching Andy. Thanks for the time you put into them. Very helpful. 👍

Thanks, Andy! Your tips always help and are always easy to digest and use. Happy Father's Day from the U.S.!
Thank you, glad they’re helping

Good stuff! I'm 65 and...well you know🙂 thanks Andy!
Andy a lesson on bunker shots would be great. What is the feel you change from a 15 yder to a 25 yder to a 35 yarder and do on. Thanks

SO GOOD!!!!!
Thanks
Great video loved the split screen views
Thanks buddy
Good video (again) Andy !
Great stuff Andy - well demonstrated as always.
Every now and then, I go off line and end up trying to hit a wee, punched, low-flying shot to get out of trouble. Could you do a vlog on that shot please?
Cheers
Yes sure. Very handy shot to be good at

Yes love that video Idea Fred
Another great video! Can you use the feet together drill with Gem? Thanks
Yes , definitely
Another good video, thanks
Good stuff buddy!
I can sadly relate to a dad bod being harder to control...😅 - going to integrate the 9-3 into my warm up

I’d love to get my hands on the new vice balls
@@andycartergolf you accept fan mail?
see many post impact pics of any number of pros and by the 3 o'clock position their wrists have 'released' in that classic rolling wrist move
I think it’s partly Pete Cowen and some hand action. I am 75 and a 1,4 hcp
Super 👍
I need this right now. 😂
Great timing then 🙌🏽
This is the drill Bobby Jones used - he called it the L to L - and said it was the only drill he ever did.
I learnt it and need to go back to it.

Goof video. Well described and demonstrated. 👍
Thank you
Andy, Pete cowen has said there is no hand manipulation in the golf swing, with you he said that Rory and tiger are two of the best manipulators in the game, clearly you are showing a lot of manipulation. Why did Pete ever say there is not hand manipulation
Some players don’t have the body action, mobility or strength to control the club so hand manipulation in some cases works best.
The momentum of the (heavy) clubhead takes care of the release. You should known this. There is nothing to learn or practise about. Thats the reason you need to be relaxed in wrists and forearms.
Im afraid that is not correct but if that’s your feel to create the release then 100% keep it if its working bud
I don't agree with you or at least it is not that simple for me.
This is bad instruction. The body controls the path. Supination of the forearms and the wrists control the face. Source: many interviews with tour champions, top coaches like Pete Cowen and gears data. What you have mentioned may be theoretically correct to a point but not all golfers can do it so this is an alternative. Too many golfers spend time trying to do moves they cant do.
This is NOT bad instruction at all. It has helped me a lot.
The release is simple. Let us not make it complicated. The swoosh drill shows how automatically the release takes place. Just listen to Hogan. It is simple. Body release is crap.
