  • If you want to improve your driver golf swing or your iron golf swing the ideas in todays golf tips video could make huge differences to the way you think about your golf swing and how you practice going forward. Many golfers see funky golf swing releases and try to fix what they see in a chicken wing golf swing or a over flippy golf swing where you might have more success with the match up ideas in this simple golf swing video.

    I have watched numerous TH-cam videos and instructors don’t emphasize the importance of releasing enough. I have been swinging for the last two years out of my body and can never understand why I can’t get the club head speed over 80. Apparently, I have been dragging the club and not even noticed it. It wasn’t until this video that I understand how you are supposed to release the club.
    I am a visual learner, so your demonstration of how the Handle should stay still at the bottom of the swing and let the club head swing through was perfect. People always said not to flip, and I thought that was flipping. This is the most important concept that any beginner should understand.
    Thanks

    Hey Mark. Just wanted to drop you a quick note to say thanks so much for what you do to help amateur golfers like me, but in particular for this lesson. I took the drills in this lesson to the range today and it really helped improve the consistency of my ball striking. I’ll be taking it to the course tomorrow and I’ll hopefully see the benefits. Cheers.

    One of the best golf TH-camrs for instruction/simple drills, keep up the great work! The increase in speed journey you have been on and detailed has been very cool to watch and relatable for me, and probably most other golfers out there!

    Ive been having issues with driver and leaving the face open due to inside out swing path. Swing path is ~ 5 degrees inside to out and face is open. Not releasing the club. This happens more with drive than irons. I’ve felt like releasing the hands thru the ball is too mush hands and causes problems. I checked driver swing on Trackman and it identified the issue. So I’m reviewing the basics as you show releasing the club as I was taught years ago. Hopefully I can cure the problem and get more consistent. Great video.

    I can't begin to tell you how much of your technical explanations have helped my game this year. I play very infrequently these days but managed 3xWins 2xTop 3 finishes in my 6 annual society comps, taking 2 shots off my handicap in the process. I will never have the time again to get back to single figures but just to be enjoying playing consistent golf again has a lot to do with these insights. Keep up the great work👍🏼

    I can't remember which video it was but you mentioned keeping angles out of the back swing so you didn't have to remove them all again in the down swing. Game changer for me when I coupled it with your drills for getting "up and out" of the left side.
    The way I feel the timing of it is imagining it as a stomp to ground my force and send it all into the ball. Awesome content as always and I'm forever in your debt

    Thanks Mark, makes sense in your video. I've added the extention of both forearms but less so the rollover motion this year and gained 10+ yards on the driver. No draws, just more powerful straight shots. Unfortunately, this swing change has ended up w Tennis elbow on my lead forearm all year long. Hoping to rest up over the winter and relook at my swing in the spring.

    Ive been working on these for a long time, and you help it make sense with some drills. I just struggle putting this ideas into hitting down into the ball instead of sweeping off the ground. Im working so hard in feeling like im pulling the grip to the left and around my body that im transferring no energy into the ground. The result is fairly straight shots with no carry or speed.

    I am a short wide sticky golfer. I generate my power by moving laterally and as a result can hit low shots due to a ton of forward shaft lean. The first “flick” release drill may help me deliver less lean and produce a higher shot. Thank you mark!

As a suggestion, I would really like to see someone do a video comparing the release patterns of two tour players with different release patterns and their match-ups. I'm sure there are lots of possibilities but two players that immediately come to my mind are Phil M and DJ.

    Hi Mark I’ve really enjoyed this release vid. especially the roll with the hands. I’ve tried the body release and having back problems this method just aggravates my lumbar region. Also trying stance width as this can affect the twist at the bottom of the spine . I’d appreciate your thoughts for swinging with back problems; maybe you’ve covered this and could signpost me to the content. Yours in hope!

  • @PetSKi67
    @PetSKi67 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the root cause for rolling release patterns, ie crossing the arms and turning the face shut to follow thru, are products of restricted shoulder turn.
    Since we are captured by the 2D video most of the time, the club looks to be passing the body from back swing to follow thru, while actually the clubhead will not pass the hands before finish if observed by the direction of the movement of the hands and body.

  • @isasukarni

    I’ve implemented this to my swing and it works great but for my driver I find it a bit difficult since it’s a much longer club and I feel a lot more resistance when trying to throw/release the club. I end up having to feel like I’m releasing/throwing the club way earlier at about P5 position. Is that right? Any suggestions on how to have better throw feel for drivers?

    I've been hovering at a 10 and have had that "held off" release look for awhile and for the life of me can't get the release feeling and not have the chicken wing left arm. The only thing that recently has worked is having the "feeling" of casting the club backwards in my downswing similar to casting a fishing pole.

  • @lysajane3643
    @lysajane3643 ปีที่แล้ว

    A little confusing. So do you still want to deloft your iron a bit? If you start with a little shaft lean do you want to return to impact with that same shaft lean? I think that’s why people chicken wing but here you’re taking that out. If your have a 42* club and you deloft at address to 45* then where should be at impact? Back to 42* or 45*?

  • @johnj5177
    @johnj5177 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mark, I think the first 2 drills really risk a flippy release because they encourage the right shoulder to stall. Your swing is easy but with a lot of momentum and a nice release, your right shoulder releases through the ball. If right side stalls doomed to chicken wing

    • @MarkCrossfield
      @MarkCrossfield  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MarkCrossfield thanks for reply. You’re the best. Will watch some of your other videos on chicken wing. FWIW, visualizing your swing is helping me with release and extension through to target. Just think those drills without rotation make consistent contact in timing tricky!
