This is for anyone struggling with oil paint, or beginners who want to try oil painting, or any seasoned artists who want to feel less alone. I think we should talk more about how difficult and messy this medium can be sometimes!! :)

Something to consider is that the skill is painting. You can use other mediums besides oils. Oils are great for a certain type of painting usually anything realistic but it’s kind of terrible if you want bright colors or an illustrative look. When I want to do something bright I will switch to acrylics because it’s hard to beat acrylics when it comes to bright pigmentation. Feel free to move about the cabin. I especially enjoy soft pastel which is also a kind of paint it’s just dry. Working with raw pigment is a real game changer.

Thank you so much for this video. It could have been me talking. I've experienced all the dilemmas you talked about and more! But, like you, I think I'm finally getting there. Style has been the overriding problem, but again I think I'm now settling into a store.

Style is SO difficult. It's taken me a long time to even remotely find a glimpse of it, and I still question it everyday LOL. I'm glad I'm not alone!
