Great forerunner to James Bond. The Prisoner was, for me, one of the most gripping TV series of its time. Watched it many times since and had a glorious day in the Village some years back.
Remember the Prisoner, I still quote it every time I fill up with petrol and they say what’s your number. I am not a number I am a free man.😂

Last episode was like coming out of an acid trip,
I called at Port Merrion yesterday on my Kawasaki Z900rs on my way to Holyhead and the ferry home to Ireland. I’m a fan of the TV series The Prisoner and really enjoyed my visit . Also the roads in Wales are fantastic was over for the weekend and the No Bull rally in Builith Wells .

I remember "The Prisoner" . In the 60s we got a few British shows here in the States. Patrick McGoohan played him, I think. I am sure Diana Rigg played Emma Peel in the Avengers ,though, whom, I will never forget.

When I was at university the three great and iconic tv shows were The Prisoner, Star Trek(original) and The Avengers. Endless late night discussions,and lots of fun.
Wales is lovely in the sun.

Did a tour of Wales with your mate Teapot1 a few weeks back, we were soaked to the skin for 3 days solid, torrential rain, fog, side winds, you name it, we got it, worst conditions I've ever ridden in. Can't believe you went through Bethgelert and didn't tell the sad dog story

Old enough to watch the original Prisoner. It doesn't become a cult program for being rubbish. Worth a watch, just remember it was based in the 60's , the birth of every movement.

"I am not a number. I am a free man!" Yes, The Prisoner has lots of fans on this side of the pond too. When I was very young, my parents built an addition onto our house and it had this one light fixture that reminded me of the giant white bubbles from the show. Scared the hell out of me. Lol.

So that makes me one of Andy's older fans then..... I remember the Prisoner as a kid and being terrified of those big white orbs! Stayed at Barmouth for a week in a cottage that was built into the rockface of the hill. Quaint but a little damp! Must go back sometime and re explore those roads with suspension as last time was on a hard tail chop.... ooohhh me piles!
I remember the Prisoner very well. The round glob balls would chase him downhill on the grounds. He drove a Dodge Charger. Cool show for it's day.

Another lovely Gold Wing Tour. They definitely improved portmeirion since we were last there that pond was a rank stinky swamp and chess board was so filthy you couldn’t tell the black and white squares.
Just spent a long weekend in Wales and we based ourselves in Barmouth, great little town , pretty much central for some great rides, by the way that sounded like a nervous laugh crossing that rickety bridge in the first episode.

The roads in Wales truly are magnificent, especially in the Snowdonia where you were, but getting the right weather is key to really enjoying them and it looks like you were very lucky 😎

Couldn't believe we're you stopped on your latest Wales tour as the hotel by the lake is a regular stop off for a pint .We have a touring caravan permanently sited just outside of tywyn so do the roads you featured all the time me and the wife on our 1250gs and never tire of them plus the f35 f15's and so on are brilliant to watch when lucky enough to be there at the right time 👍

Well, thank you very much! I just love these Gold Wing tour videos and their relaxed vibe, particularly against a backdrop as nice as Northern Wales. Especially as today, after the better part of two years of trying in vain, we finally got to test ride a Gold Wing ourselves.

@@TheMissendenFlyer Well, Mrs FLHFD was extremely happy, according to her the best pillion seat she ever had and better than both the Electrca Glide and the Roadmaster. I wasn't as convinced, but the ride was too short to form a comprehensive opinion.

What a fantastic days riding it looked, and on our doorstep too. Looks like Port Merion is a 'stop off' visit, rather than a whole day 'attraction'. I too remember The Prisoner series. It was one of those where you watched it right through becase you were convinced it must get better and explain itself, alas no haha.
Not another Insta360 X3 mishap (1:40), that's the third one I've seen recently! Chopsy and UsernameKate have damaged their Insta360 X3's, as well. I wasn't going to take any chances, so I always attached my Insta360 X3 using the metal Utility Frame, a parachute cord lanyard cut to size, and some small swivel snap type keyring clasps, along with the protective lenses. Have you tried using a small bungee cord on the Gold Wing windscreen? You could stretch it across the windscreen, and attach it either side using the hooks. Maybe hook them on to the windscreen itself, or wrap the bungee around the wing mirrors using the hooks, or attach some parachute cord around each wing mirror, then hook the bungee to the parachute cord. That would allow you to then attach a parachute cord lanyard to the suction cup mount-I've never trusted those things! There's also the option of using the new Insta360 X3 Invisible Dive Case for protection. It would be totally waterproof, and I presume it would work out of the water, just as well? Sadly, there would be no option for attaching USB a power lead, unless you feel like doing some DIY, and fettle the side of the case! I use the parachute cord all the time as a safety lanyard, even on my helmet camera. 👍

The Port Merion Hotel, down by the estuary, is lovely to stay at. The food is absolutely top notch. Not cheap, but you can treat Mrs Flyer to it I'm sure!
Can't you get that camera fixed? Presumably it only needs a lens replacing which should be a lot cheaper than buying a new camera.
That village you were trying to pronounce as you passed through was Llanbeddr (Clan - bed - err). You should know that - there's an airfield there!
Spent 5 days last year touring around Wales and snowdonia great touring roads and nice part of the world..
Great video, made me home sick, from Beddgelert where I started riding in 1974/5 RD250B painful memories of the Aberglaslyn pass were on Christmas Eve during horrendous weather a tree blew down on me engulfing me and the bike, long story, us to work in Portmeirion, rode there every day. slept in Sir Clough Williams Ellis Renault 25 most Saturday nights, another long story

Get rid of your GoPro’s Andy and move over to DJI Osmo Actions, after endless frustrating failures with GoPros I did about a year ago and not a single issue, THEY JUST WORK all the time !!!

The Prisoner - iconic but probably seems very dated now, I remember it as a lad, it was a don't miss.
I now stay in my own country wales decided i have had enough of abroad as i get older these roads are just our side my door step , love wales and if want i can be in my own bed every night and next day go else where for great roads getting there and home again

I used to live in Chester; so North Wales was my regular riding area. Weather was often better than you think.

Sometimes it's a blessing in disguise getting stuck behind something slow on a beautiful road as you actually get a chance to look to look around and soak it in. Adrenaline and pleasure sometimes can't be fully enjoyed in the same moment. You might have to choose one or the other....

Ahhhh gold wheels...very nice but a PITA to keep those spoked wheels clean. Did the lunch thing at the castle a few years ago after being tipped off by my son's GF about the deal and as you say well worth it as getting into Port Merion by itself is quite expensive so it makes lunch a bargain and who doesn't like one of those 👍

Hi Andy, Going back to your rear shock issue with the GS, how did you know / assume / ensure the purchased shock assembyly was in good condition, was it refurbished etc.? If so, where from. You may have guessed I have the same issue on my 2016 model & can't carry out the necessary work at home. so this info would help as a start point.

Stayed in Barmouth recently, you rode past our digs, a fabulous art deco building directly above the Lobster Pot restaurant on your right, immediately after the railway bridge. Brilliant place to base yourself with secure garage parking for the bikes too. Result!

I know the GS has capabilities not available on the “Wing”, but what a relaxing road trip on “big blue”. You could feel the comfort and ease of riding. Well done as always my friend. Love the European experiences I’m to old to enjoy on my bike myself. My Valkyrie and I will continue to love the Blue Ridge and beyond here across the Pond 😎

I was over in the UK in May on my R1250RS from Valencia, visiting my sister who lives in Mid Wales, and did a tour round my old hunting grounds of North Wales with my bro-in-law (fellow biker). We actually did almost all of what you showed on this vid route-wise - we over nighted in Llanberis. So really great to see, and we actually had even better weather than you - it was perfect. Perversely, riding up thru Spain to get the ferry in Santander I hot heavily rained on and north of Burgos even encountered snow!!!. I would never consider returning to the UK (biker paradise here), but if you are lucky enough to find N Wales with good weather it is truly outstanding. Well done for another great tour mini series - looking forward to the next. By the way, although living where I do, I will clearly never visit the eateries, but I really enjoy your 'Biker Scran' vids - Geoff & Dan seem like great guys. Thanks again, bloody hot here!!

Hope you all had a great ride in my back garden, I'm so lucky to live on the boarder of the Snowdonia National Park. I have some great roads and scenery right on my doorstep.. But then I moved to Wales Hay-on-Wye way back in early 84 after spending a week motocamping with a few friends but I was the only one who moved here exactly a week later. I have lived in South Wales for 4 years, Mid Wales for 22 years and now been in North Wales for 13 years.. Betws-y-Coed, Bala and the Snowdonia mountains on my doorstep I don't really need to travel anywhere lol.. but for some great roads that are easier to pass slow moving vehicles I usually travel down to Mid Wales, Llandrindod Wells which is about 1.5 hours away. This area as some of the best roads In the UK.

Finally got out on my new Classic 350 last night and went along Rignall Rd and round Gt Miss. I didn't see you, but I was looking!! The little beaut now has 21miles on it, and I fell in love with it a bit more every mile we went. Maybe I'll see you some day and say hi.

@@TheMissendenFlyer I got the shiny black one with the wide burgundy stripe. I took a risk as I'd never seen one in the flesh. I'm glad I did, as this thing is so damned pretty. The paint is metallic, I didn't even know until it was delivered.
Anyway if you see a guy on one randomly waving at you, wearing a white helmet and a black jacket with orange stripe, it'll be me!

I don't think we got The Prisoner here in Australia but as soon as I saw the main character you showed I thought, Danger Man! I was a teenager in the 60s when that was popular. It was a sort of James Bond Light.

I feel your pain re your camera Andy. I lost my magnetic tank bag recently. Completely my dopey fault. After filling up with petrol I rode off without putting it back on the tank. It was on my pillion seat. Never seen again 😢

You can’t go wrong in Wales - just head for Snowdonia and make sure and take in Dolgellau and Machynlleth - you’ll then find all the right roads….
