- Hello everyone! I finally changed the lighting in my room so the weird yellow tint in my videos is gone yay!
If you are considering getting a sun conure this is a video of what to expect,
Basically cons are they are loud, bite is really nasty, pros are they are cuddly and nice
I personally love having a sun conure she is so cute and if you can handle the noise level they are definitely worth it!

I got my sun conure two days ago omg I love him to death he’s so cuddly but clingy!!! I quickly realize I have to take him everywhere I go or else he’ll screech his little lungs out:,)

I remember that my love for birds started when my parents bought a sun conure named Nico. He was so sweet and smart. He ended passing away a couple of years ago and it felt weird being in the house without him because he would just lighten up the house. My grandpa had found a cockatiel and had asked me if I wanted him which I didn’t hesitate. I named him Mango. My dads friend had given my him a cockatiel because his mom wasn’t taking care of him. I named him Ritchie because when we first got him he was so quiet which is completely understandable. I played one of Ritchie Valens songs and next thing I know he was whistling. 😊

I also had a female sun conure from when I was six years old or so. She passed a couple years ago now, but everything you said about sun conures was very true, even down to the being cozy under the blanket part. I remember my Mango doing the same thing.
Just want to commend you on your dedication to the channel. First video I've seen from you, but the video is two years old and I see comments being replied to as little as less than two weeks ago. Nice to see somebody that cares for their craft.

We are adopting our first Sun Conure next week. He was being rehomed the family were told to get rid of him since they are in an apartment. Before them he was at a rescue. I’ve had other birds but never a conure though I’m quite excited as I been wanting a conure for many years.

@@mimisbirdhouse Super excited but a bit nervous she may not fully bond with us “we found out she was a female just owners never changed the name” but she was a rescue never fully bonded with them after 5 years but we plan to be her forever home.
Just got a little female ? (Possibly) sun conure today. Hand raised and possibly around a year old. She is a real sweety and so gentle! Her nibbles are not a bite at all. My Indian ring neck female bites so hard it draws blood and hurts for days! So this is a welcome change. Haven’t named her yet but I think it will not be Mango as nearly every video I see they are called that 😂. After having budgies, a cockatiel and ring necks I’m really excited to have a sun conure! She is loud, but no where near as loud as my ring neck lol
I wish I could get a sun conure,I’ve been in love with them for years but I’ve never got the chance to have one of my own,as money is getting a bit harder to manage but I hope that sometime in the future i will have one of my own!

I remember wanting a sun conure but ended up with a pineapple conure. I absolutely loved that chubby boy, named it shanty! But he died after one month of getting him. I was a STUPID birb owner back then. Im getting another bird now, probs going for a sun .

Just put a deposit on a baby pineapple Conure. Soooo excited. Side note, she's beautiful. The birds are cool too. I was going to get a Quaker, but everything I read said to start with a Conure.
No particular thing as a better starting bird, they all come with their own quirks and personalities its whoever is the best fit for you ☺️

A Quaker Parrot bite is seriously nothing compare to a Sun Conure bite. Mine has left scars. I have had mine for 18 years and the biting is my least favorite thing about her. Thankfully she doesn’t bite all the time but sometimes out of no where she will get me good.
One of my quakers bites way harder than she should for a quaker. My boy quaker isnt too bad. My sun has dislocated my finger bone before 😭 and when she was going through puberty it was really painful so I feel you 😭 Luckily she doesnt bite anymore :)
i had a budgie that i absolutely adored and my mom has a blue quaker parrot, i’m looking into getting a bird for myself when i move out and i can’t decide between a cockatiel, a lovebird, or a conure 😭 i just love birds
They all have their pro and cons. Cockatiels are sweeties and not as loud as conures but they are really dusty so you have to have air purifiers and give them regular steamy showers. They also have night frights so you have to sleep with a night light on. They are more easily spooked but definitely gentle kind birds.
Lovebirds are the chihuahuas of birds. Feisty and angry. Will try and bite you a lot. Luckily they are small, so compared to a conure their bites dont do much unless they are really mad, most of the time they just try and intimidate you. They are also paper shredders.
Conures are playful babies who love to snuggle and be inside your shirt. They are the loudest of these three. They are more playful and active and are all silly as they hang upside down. They love to throw stuff off your counter.

@@evii888 its important to note there isnt really such thing as a beginner bird. A bird is a longterm commitment and important to do research on any bird you want and to see if they fit your lifestyle :)

Suns were the parrots that got me interested in birds...I ended up with two quaker parrots and an indian ringneck😂

Hi I know this video is old, but I was curious would having a sun conure be okay for someone who is in school and has activities after. I would probably only have 4-5 hours with it a day.
Would not recommend any parrot for someone with school and activities 😅 they all require a lot more time
@@mimisbirdhouse what if your home schooled? I usually stay at the house most of the time Aswell.
@@pinkteavc8420 home school for sure works but think about as well where you will be in the future. Will you go to uni or college from home or residency? You’ll have to shape your future to accommodate these gremlins. If thats something you’re okay with then sure :)

Compared to a budgie, how hard was it to tame mango?
Conures tend to be very friendly. That said there are exceptions but as long as you take appropriate steps they should bond easily :)
We got lucky! for some reason jendays cost a lot less than suns in my area and we thought we were buying a baby Jenday. Year later and only the tips of his wings are green 😂

Why does my sun concure always feel the need to bite. It’s not like a real bite but more like he’s trying to preen my ear and neck but gets skin by accident. Also, he’s a PIA! He will NOT eat any other food than healthy select conure diet. If it’s out of stock and I get something else, he picks it out of the bowl and throws it all over the floor. One day I was unable to get that brand for about two days. He was SO mad he picked his water bowl up out of holder and dropped it. He has such an attitude! I should add that we got him from an adoption place, well my sister did for me. I take very good care of him but I feel as if the previous owners may have hit/abused him. He doesn’t let anyone pet him other than my 6 year old daughter. Whenever he’s out of his cage he wants to be all over me. But I can’t pet him. Only my daughter. Also, when he’s in his cage and I go to change the food and water he will get frantic, loud and bite at me. Only for a split second then it’s like he realizes I’m not going to hurt him and he’s fine. Almost like animal PTSD. I could be imagining things but any tips?
P.S his name is Sunny.
Birds definitely go through PTSD from abuse and neglect. My adopted quaker has really bad fear of abandonment issues. All we can do is work with them like therapy. Continue to show them you arnt a threat. Continue to act with kindness and patience. Speak to them softly verbally reassuring them you arnt going to do harm. It takes work and time but eventually they start to heal and trust you 🥺
How many sun conures do you have.? Do you have any experience with having them as a pair, i wonder if they get more tertorial.?
I only have the one but sun conures bond VERY well and easily with other sun conures (there are exceptions but majority of the time this is the case)
@@mimisbirdhouse thnx 4 the explanation. Ur conure here has different colours compared to ur other videos so i thought u might have more. But u explained the change due their age.
I had a pair pyrrahuras be4, they got extremely territorial and started attacking me. It might have been their hormones bc of the mating season. So im in doubt about getting a partner for my sun, they might turn against me. She is all cuddly and loving now.

You dont have to get a mate. You can get the same gender. Sun conures are also great with other types of conures such as jenday, green cheek. They dont mate with other birds who arnt of the same type
@@mimisbirdhouse she got attacked by the pyrrhura pair aswell, so i sold those. I then tried to pair my sun with the largest of all conures, the patagonian conure. That was a disaster, my sun flew away. Normally she stayed close or sat on my shoulder outside. I took her with my to my garden and she would sit and weight on a branch all day.
I have a budgie and 2 love birds now they get along well indeed. But i need more suns around. Let me know when u wanna sell urs ;)

Hello! I’m getting a birb in the next few weeks, ofc it’s a sun conure, any tips for toys?
I only own two cockatiel, but I think sun conures like foot toys, foraging toys, sea grass matt and intelligent toys🤗
I have two videos on toy recommendations both pet store edition and kid edition but the biggest recommendation I have is wood. Wood toys, suns love to crunch and break wood like its paper.
Suns are actually not ground foragers they forage up in tree’s :) quakers are ground foragers though

How to learn talk
Hi so if you have a parrot capable of speech it doesnt mean they will speak. some of them have greater speaking ability than others. Something you can do is just repeat a word everyday a few times, some of them take more time to learn.
