Don't understand the reason for the learning procedure since you've just replaced the oil from the oil pan only. Drain and fill doesn't have any impact on any of the other components inside the transmission until you drive it. I believe the learning procedure should only be used when replacing the transmission with rebuilt or another new one. Please advice.
You should drain and fill the transmission fluid every 60 or so thousand miles . The new fluid has detergents in it to keep everything happy . If done regular it can extend the life of the transmission. Never ever ever flush the transmission I’m sure we both agree on that . If you haven’t changed the fluid after 100 thousand or so don’t touch it just pray for the best .
@kevmoful Was told a weird (what I think was incorrect advice) was NOT to replace the fluid unless doing the flush through with the equipment which uses around 8 litres of fluid in total to completely gave it new stuff. Was advised if not doing it that way there was little point and might cause more issues.
Unless I overlooked something, the Mazda 6 Skyactiv Factory Service Manual says the learning procedure should only be done when you replace the following PARTS: control valve body, oil pressure switch or automatic transaxle. I didn't see anything about using this procedure in the manual for when you replace the fluid.
Dear I have Mazda6 (2016) I went Mazda workshop and ask about to change gear oil. The officials refused to change and replied it is long life so no need to change. Current mileage 213k kms. Please advice
@@suitsandstrings55 "long life" doesn't really mean "forever". Is more for the expected life of the motor/transmission, and that also depends on how you drive it. If you change the oil your transmission will last longer. 75.000 miles is a good time and for sure before 100.000 mikes. I would take it to another Mazda shop.
thanks for the video, very useful. Is there any risk to doing the re-learn procedure when changing the fluid? Also, is there any official documentation you can link to about this procedure? Thanks
The old used transmission oil will lose the original color, that is why it doesn't look blue anymore. My recommendation, buy the oil directly from the Mazda dealership/shop to be 100% sure you put the right stuff. Any other oil will damage your transmission.
Abdul Aziem What is the relearn procedure? I changed the atf and try to do the same from your video but stuck at m3 (manual mode) but nothing happen after that.
The description in your learning procedure and what you’re doing is not same. For example 3:19 you didn’t start engine but just turned ignition to ON hence you quickly tapped start button and it’s amber not green and rpms didn’t rise..
Hello sir, thanks for commenting. If you can, try to follow just at my description. I might mistakenly cut some during editing. Good Luck and Stay safe.
Just did mine few months ago . I just drained into pan and measured in an old oil jug how much I had taken out and replaced that much . I’m no pro but I’m driving a 2020 so far so good
My Mazda dealership refuses to do a transmission oil change in my 2016 Mazda 6. It used to cost $130. They upped the price to $500. When I requested the service they said it's lifetime oil and never needs to be changed. They're a bunch of liars.
Lifetime = until your transmission fails and is no longer under warranty. No such thing, transmission fluid gets contaminated and should be replaced no later than 100K miles, I prefer at 60K miles. There is also a screen filter in there that most people change, but it requires a pan drop and reseal.

Thank you so much for this video!!!
Im really glad you like it..thank you🥰
Is this the same concept for a 2005 Mazda 6 I ?
Is the vehicle running when you check the level?
Great video! Is there a special trick for checking the transmission fluid level without burning yourself on a mazda 3?
We check the level from below using the car lifter, and be sure to use glove..

It's good to do after 75 000 miles. You don't have to, but it's good for the trans.

Why are you draining red fluid and replacing it with blue fluid??
Hello sir, the blue transmission fluid is the one that is supplied to the service center. They have specification standard of the fluid to be used.
The old used transmission oil will lose the original color, that is why it doesn't look blue anymore. My recommendation, buy the oil directly from the Mazda dealership/shop to be 100% sure you put the right stuff. Any other oil will damage your transmission.
Could you please share the oil specifications for this transmission mazda 6 2.5 skyactiv 2014-2017
Type FZ. Cheapest I can find is from Mazda.
What year Mazda is in this video? I have a 2017.
Just want to know what is the purpose for the learning procedure? thanks.
What was the re learn procedure for?
procedure to ensure atf flows to every part of the transmission.

How many quarts did you end up adding? I'm planning on doing a drain and fill.. My car currently has 55K miles.

Hello sir,
How many liters of oil if change oil and filter.
Fill the same amount you take out
What is the spec of the transmission fluid or OEM PN?
Mazda "FZ" fluid

Yup..I have a 2017 Mazda 6, and they said the same thing. I called a local mechanic and was charged $400 after tax
Where was this transmission oil change done?
Hello sir, this is done at Mazda service center.
Hi there, no need to change transmission filter? Thanks
Hi there too..must be change according to mileage. It is usually stated inside owner's manual book
You did not replace the transmission filter!
No need.
@@a3300000 yes it is needed don't do a job halfway.
This is why you never get this type of work done at the dealer or any of those quick lube places.
Is this the same for a 2017 mazda 3? And why does it same lifetime fluid if people change it??
yes for mazda skyactiv auto transmission

Problem with this video, the pan needs to be dropped cleaned and filters replaced. Half a job is not a good job
