    Mazda cars now seem to be much easier to maintain than Toyota cars with their sealed transmissions! Thank you for the educational video!

    I've been changing the oil in my vehicles for 45 years now, and I've never filled the new filter with oil before installing it. On some cars the filter is installed horizontally or even pointing down, and this would result in the fresh oil dumping out when you attempted to install it. Just lubricate the rubber o-ring and spin it on. The oil pump will fill the filter as soon as you start the engine.
    Also, you should mention that these transmissions on the CX-5's require MAZDA FZ fluid and only FZ fluid. I can see you used FZ fluid, but it's imperative that nothing else is put in. I've heard of guys changing it with something else because they thought they knew better, and had transmission problems within 500 miles after doing so. You should mention to viewers to not put any other AT fluid into these transmissions.

    The fluid should be checked when it gets to around 122 degrees so the only way to properly check it is with a scan tool that shows trans fluid temp. I just bought a cx-5 and just a heads up the diff crush washers are 18mm i believe. I reused the old ones but so far no leaks. Now i need to do trans but dont have or know of which tool is cheap but shows fluid temp. Going to install catch can soon too but yea they stuck pcv behind intake manifold. Nice and impossible to get too but at least other things are easier to get to like manifold itself and intake valves.

      Felix Dan well i took intake manifold off 45,000 miles and the valves were nicely carbon covered. Have installed a catch can and cleaned valves hopefully it helps. Already got a 1/4 can full after about 1000 miles. My only concern now is the winter hoping the lines dont freeze. That will cause a problem indeed. Btw i used a thermometer on the trans cooler lines to measure temp and filled tranny to full line. Sure been easier with those fancy scan tools.😊Thank you again for your knowledge

      @@captainmorgan6035 by installing a Oil catch can it doesnt resolve the carbon build up issue on this type of engine. Just reducing the amount of the carbons. You still need to do a service every now n then. :)

      @Felix dan Thought about disliking this comment not because of you but because of the fact that I dislike having to clean the cabon out of it. Didn’t realize it was direct injected until after I bought it. I’m just glad I didn’t get the turbo version because I can only imagine it’s worse on those. Have you ever tried installing a hydrogen generator onto an engine to see if it kept it clean. I just always wondered if that would work. Not going to go that far with the Mazda though. Can’t seem to find a walnut blasting adapter for the Mazda CX5 2.5 L engine specifically yet. Let me know if you know where i can acquire one

    How to check the transmission oil level? It is necessary to start the car and warm up the transmission oil to 50 ° С (122 ° F) and only after that look at the dipstick. Read the manual

    My lazy ass use a manual pneumatic pump to drain and fill from the dipstick tube. Too lazy to remove the splash panel and air box. I use the schedule of 3 years or 30k miles whichever comes first for drain and fill and pan drop every 6 years or 60k miles. Oil and filter change interval at 4 months or 10k miles whichever comes first. I have an AWD so rear diff fluid every 30k miles and transfer case every 60k. Simple work that keeps the car running without issues.

      I know that Volvo uses aisin which does not have filters in them. Lease vehicles have a mandatory flush-and-fill procedure every 60 000 km. Damon Jaar the reason i did not change the ATF filter because i have not found the replacement part locally. I will have to find the ATF filter overseas and do it for the next oil change . The transmission (fill and drain method) uses 3.25 litres of FZ oil. I do change the atf every 5000kms same goes with the engine motor oil. Thank you really appreciate the support.

    • @Gaunteros
      @Gaunteros 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mazda does not recommend changing the transmission oil. For the whole life. But experience shows that it's worth doing. But not as often as you do. It will be good if after 30 000-40 000 km and for the next 30 000-40 000 km remove the pallet, replace the filter and replace the transmission oil. Of course, more oil will be used.
      Every 5,000 km is very expensive and does not make sense.

    • @FelixDanGarasiAuto
      @FelixDanGarasiAuto  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I Understand changing the transmission fluid every 5000kms - 10000kms might be overkill additional with replacing the transmission filter , but in my case i would recommend to change earlier just on the safe side perhaps if you are living with lots of traffic jams like i am , as in my country here there's too many city traffic jam thus we have to do lots of crawl start then stop many occasions. You can tell by the video judging by the draining of the Old transmission fluid.

    • @Gaunteros
      @Gaunteros 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This tip takes into account traffic jams. There is no point in changing so often. You do not change the engine oil every 2,000 km, although I think the engine will like it :)
      It's just my opinion, based on experience. I do not insist.

    • @FelixDanGarasiAuto
      @FelixDanGarasiAuto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Дмитрий Чугунов Cool cool. You do have a valid point but then it depends on how you treat the car at the end . Im sure other owners who have OCD like me will also do the same thing regardless if they want to change their fluid more often it is up to them. But i would recommend to be safe perhaps change engine oil every 5000kms if you living in a city traffic jam situation everyday like i am .. And maybe also the ATF fluid every 10000kms - 15000kms - 20000kms if you think 5000kms is over kill. But then again it goes down on the users how they want to take care of the car , any car... not just mazda brands.

    Thanks for this video. Also forgive me if you have already answer my question. I have just fixed a leaky trans pan. Get a Cx-5 2014 Touring. How do you check transmission fluid while the car is running when dipstick is hidden deep underneath the cabin filter compartment? Here is my scenario:
    I added about 3.5L of ATF-FZ. I put the dipstick and level was in the middle of the indicator. I did start and tried all the gears. I let the car run for about 10 minutes. I then quickly removed the filter housing again and checked the dipstick. This time, I did not see a fluid level on it. What really happened to the fluid I put in? Did I add enough oil or is the oil just sent over the different transmission compartment and will eventually settle inside the pan? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

      Kalu d SA di selang itu aliran coolant dan d balik atf cooler nya ada 2 saluran in out atf yg kedua nya berputar atau ketemu di sisi balik nya dari atf cooler.
