I really don't want to spend an additional hour changing the filter on the transmission, do you happen to know the service interval on the transmission filter? I am thinking about doing the oil and changing the filter next year when I have the time, instead of rushing through it, I recently picked the car up, and it's one of many incomplete maintenance. Great videos man. Just one question, when you checked the ATF level at refill, was the engine running? If not was the gearbox warm? In my laptop I couldn't see clearly the level of fresh oil in the measuring stick. Tumbs up for your video bro
Yeap you keep the engine running to its running temperature then check the dipstik. But you also can double check the dip stick after the engine has warmed up with engine turned off. You will get similar reading. Then refill it if neccessary.
Thanks for this video. Also forgive me if you have already answer my question. I have just fixed a leaky trans pan. Get a Cx-5 2014 Touring. How do you check transmission fluid while the car is running when dipstick is hidden deep underneath the cabin filter compartment? Here is my scenario: I added about 3.5L of ATF-FZ. I put the dipstick and level was in the middle of the indicator. I did start and tried all the gears. I let the car run for about 10 minutes. I then quickly removed the filter housing again and checked the dipstick. This time, I did not see a fluid level on it. What really happened to the fluid I put in? Did I add enough oil or is the oil just sent over the different transmission compartment and will eventually settle inside the pan? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Great video. QUESTION!! I tried to follow this just now and got stuck. For the transmission section... There is a point in your video where you tap on points inside the air box to remove some things. I'm not sure what those were. Where they screws or clips or what? In my car there seem to be two weird bolts that half their head as a round section. Then in the base there is another bolt down in it with some rubber around it. My car is a 2012 Cx-5. I'm wondering if the box should just be pulled right over these but then it looks to be holding it down good. Can you let me know how this worked for you please!! Thanks!
With the airbox at 9:40 onwards . Theres rubber grommets that r holding the bottom section of the intake box. Just have to pull it . Theres no other bolts holding it if i can remember. Its held there pretty tight so have to use a bit of force. if its too tight please spray a tiny bit of WD40 to let it loose, don't forget to wipe it away afterwards.
@@GarasiFelixDan Thank you. I ended up figuring it out... I just took a screw driver and pushed the rubber to the side so I could pull it up. But the air box was a real pain to go back in once I took it out. It's very tight between the radiator and what looks like the computer.

@@siuolLaw if it comes out about 4 ltrs you should put in 4 liters and then after a couple of driving please recheck the level to top up the fluid if neccessary.
Ya is the same as newer mazda 3 (skyactiv engine) . The fz fluid meant to be blue in colour. But please confirm with your owner booklet manual for Auto Trans Fluid specs for your vehicle. Cheers.
Saludos, por que? No cambiaste el filtro de la transmision? Cuantos 1/4 de atf-fz usaste? Y cada cuanto tiempo o kilómetros cambias el atf-fz? Gracias. Excelente video muy ilustrativo.
Damon Jaar the reason i did not change the ATF filter because i have not found the replacement part locally. I will have to find the ATF filter overseas and do it for the next oil change . The transmission (fill and drain method) uses 3.25 litres of FZ oil. I do change the atf every 5000kms same goes with the engine motor oil. Thank you really appreciate the support.
Mazda does not recommend changing the transmission oil. For the whole life. But experience shows that it's worth doing. But not as often as you do. It will be good if after 30 000-40 000 km and for the next 30 000-40 000 km remove the pallet, replace the filter and replace the transmission oil. Of course, more oil will be used. Every 5,000 km is very expensive and does not make sense.
I Understand changing the transmission fluid every 5000kms - 10000kms might be overkill additional with replacing the transmission filter , but in my case i would recommend to change earlier just on the safe side perhaps if you are living with lots of traffic jams like i am , as in my country here there's too many city traffic jam thus we have to do lots of crawl start then stop many occasions. You can tell by the video judging by the draining of the Old transmission fluid.
This tip takes into account traffic jams. There is no point in changing so often. You do not change the engine oil every 2,000 km, although I think the engine will like it :) It's just my opinion, based on experience. I do not insist.
Дмитрий Чугунов Cool cool. You do have a valid point but then it depends on how you treat the car at the end . Im sure other owners who have OCD like me will also do the same thing regardless if they want to change their fluid more often it is up to them. But i would recommend to be safe perhaps change engine oil every 5000kms if you living in a city traffic jam situation everyday like i am .. And maybe also the ATF fluid every 10000kms - 15000kms - 20000kms if you think 5000kms is over kill. But then again it goes down on the users how they want to take care of the car , any car... not just mazda brands.
We have Mazda Biante 2017 model, petrol engine. I want to check the level of automatic transmission oil but I cannot find the dipstick. Any help please? Thank you.

I added about 3.5L of ATF-FZ.
Theres not enuf fluid. Please add more. Even the car engine is off. When it has been warmed up the oil level should should be at the marking point.
@Tobb yes definately should measure whatever comes out from the oil pan. But to be sure 100% use the dipstick to measure the correct amount of fluids.

Did you put in 4.75 quarts of oil PLUS the quart that went into filling the oil filter? Or is it 4.75 in total?

You do not change the engine oil every 2,000 km, although I think the engine will like it :)
It's just my opinion, based on experience.

If 5k is too early maybe change it every 10k ?
@@GarasiFelixDan refer to color and smell of the used fluid in your next change. Maybe 10k is alright since you dont change filter and not doing complete flush. Note that there is 40-50% used fluid undrained.
5000 km? That is a bit ridiculous. If the OEM fluid is cheap, why not since it's very easy to do. If expensive you could easily do 20k. You should've saved a sample and then increased your intervals and compared (yours still had good color)
Does Mazda use filter in their transmissions?
I know that Volvo uses aisin which does not have filters in them. Lease vehicles have a mandatory flush-and-fill procedure every 60 000 km. For private owners volvo scams their customers with "filled for life" meaning "we don't warranty that shit anyway so suck it". It's a complicated job on those units too.
@@mtay65 More like 70% is not changed without a full flush.
@@coccobill7982 Yeah, amount drained VS total amount as per spec book. Many do not know this. They thought replacing ATF is like replacing engine oil/MT gear oil.
Yo.

Hai
There are any reason you dont use atf oil changer ?
you can use the oil changer if you want (the only difference using oil vacuum tool will not be as messy as the manual way ) this video shows the basic of atf replacement.
What about the transmission filter?
Unfortunately i could not source one locally . If i were to place an order from our local dealer here in Indonesia it would take 1 months to arrive so i had to do this service without it. But yes if you have one i would suggest to replace it aswell by removing the transmission pan to gain access to the transmission filter.
Did mazda use transmission gasket or use sealant just fine?
@@shhhdontshout they use gasket sealant (threebond) grey
@@shhhdontshout I also think there are aftermarket gaskets available instead of using RTV, which if not done correctly will leak.
