I always liked Vile in Maverick Hunter X more. In the mainline X games, Vile mocks X's ideology and thinks of him as a naive fool, but Vile is subservient to Sigma and is pretty much just a pawn himself. I like the independence he has in Maverick Hunter X, it makes him feel like an actual character instead of just another reoccurring bad guy. If anything, Vile is the one "true Maverick". Every other Maverick villain we've seen in the series has been manipulated by a higher power/ authority (either Sigma or Lumine), but Vile is the ONE villain that acts in his own interests, no matter how selfish or stupid they seem. I absolutely love his final cutscene with Sigma. It shows that Vile was the one character that Sigma couldn't predict, but it seems that Vile didn't know what he himself was going to do after beating X. A lesson in impulsiveness, I guess.
I do wonder how Vile's story falls into the canon since in the mainline story, Vile is destroyed by Zero sacrificing himself but here X was able to shoot Vile by Zero pinning his leg. Then again Maverick Hunter X is an anomaly in the greater lore since we see in Day of Sigma, Dr Cain gets killed by a missile strike. Unless he was able to get to safety before it struck.
@@JadeMythriil yup, Maverick Hunter X shouldn't line up with the mainline X series cause of its changes (the biggest one being Dr. Cain's death like you already mentioned). For those who are angry Vile didn’t get to fight Sigma- that was kind of the point. X and Sigma both have visions they aim to carry out, X to restore the world’s peace and Sigma to supplant humanity. X’s potential makes him the one Sigma deems necessary to be the deciding factor. If he beats X, his cause is worthy. If he doesn’t, he wasn’t good enough. But Vile just wants that position out of spite, because it’s something X has that he doesn’t. He even admits that, if he’d reached Sigma, he had no clue what he was actually going to do, or what his ultimate goal was.
No, I like Vile very much, but here they made him an entire idiot, in the original he was faithful to Sigma and we really didn't see him much, but at least had a purpose in his life (even if it's just destroy everything in his field of view) and even when in the original he was an idiot too, at least was very fearsome, here he never had a character development and in the end he even didn't understand himself, I liked more his X8's version.
The idea of a robot built entirely for the purpose of being a soldier not understanding why X is important is what makes this Vile an actual character unlike the original or any of his other appearances, as a robot made to achieve his missions without fail he can't understand how someone like X is revered so much even though he has no ability in the field before these events, he just can't comprehend how thinking can get X far at all. And so, he finds a new objective, simply to defeat X and prove that he isn't a robot that people should be proud of and that he himself along with other Maverick Hunters with higher ranks should be seen as the true fighters and people that they should count on.
I like the constant questions of Vile’s motivations, and how all the mavericks what the fuck he’s even doing. A question not even Vile himself can answer at the end of the game.

Just remember. We never got more remakes (which would have been 2 through 6) of this caliber and effort because Capcom thought it was a good idea to make it a PSP exclusive. THANKS CAPCOM. Truly smart of you to isolate your customer base Honestly this probably would have worked best as a bundle with Mega Man Powered up to release on all other consoles at the time.
Despite how the game sold initially and for a while it now started being appreciated more it just makes me wanna see a sequel. Surprised there's not even a fan project to try and remake X2 or 3 in the same way. I wanna see a more in depth story of those along with the mavericks in the same way as this, maybe getting to play as Vile in a maverick hunter x3.
I know it's for the sake of the plot, but when Zero is holding Vile in place Vile could have easily used any of his weapons to escape the situation. He could have shot X with his cannon, he could have bent down and launched a bomb out of his knee, he could have shot Zero with his finger bullets. He really wasn't stuck at all if you think about it.
KJ The Hedgecat nope, Bass has at least shown concern for someone else than himself at least couple times in his life (although rarely) while Vile never has and is more destructive than Bass.
Vile's the most unmotivated character in all of gaming, he exists solely to cause trouble for others. He has no goals of world domination or anything, he just wants to pester X&Zero. He's kinda like Reverse Flash lol
One aspect I like about Vile, is no matter how you analyze him, spec wise; he is inferior to X in nearly every category. From the start, Vile has worse health, and terrible defense. It's super easy to die as Vile, forcing you to get crafty. This is made up for, with his arsenal, matching his lore as a warrior which can majorly improve the game. He starts off with just finger shot, cannon blast, and light grenades; but as you defeat mavericks, you unlock missiles, Rocket Fists, Boomerangs, Lasers, Flame Kicks, and energy orbs. All of which have different effects, properties, and advantages; as well as 5 types for each, which can make up for Vile's lack of survivability. He also gets an upgrade that improves his speed, and can get heart tanks to give him a bit more life. But at the end of the day, Vile still takes more damage then X; it's his large collection of Gizmos that makes him fun to play as. Also, getting to pilot his custom ride armor in some stages with a giant gatling gun built in the arm felt great. Though I'm not a big fan of the timer on it. So much potential for Vile's gameplay, but overall, I felt his addition was a great aspect. If only Capcom could've remade the other games in the series like this... but, it seems a lot of fans of the original MMX really hate this remake.
Most of the fans I've seen don't hate it. While they think the game overall is inferior to the original in terms of gameplay, the voice acting and other small additions were praised.
afaik this was going to be an lorewise more accurate recreation of the series starting with this game but because Inafune.. jerked around during the mid 2000s those plans have been cancelled, along other plans like the Rockman World GB for GC(?) collection of games.
No. As Clementj642 said, they made the mistake of making both this and Powered Up *Exclusively* for the PSP, one of the most failed and unpopular systems out there. Had this been made for GameCube, Xbox and other PlayStation consoles at the time, it would’ve gotten more fame and notoriety, and as such, would’ve been more likely to receive sequels.
10:53: Mega Man: Stop right there! X: You've really caused a lot of havoc, Bass... Bass: Yeah? I was just taking care of a few loose ends. Mega Man: So you're not on Goodman's side? You two aren't friends? Bass: Friends? Treble is my only friend. Not anyone else. Not ever. I actually have one thing to accomplish, Mega Man... You must be destroyed!
All reploids are based on X's design otherwise the other robots wouldn't have that advanced ai and tech, except zero he is the most advanced robot master.

In a way , this ending is better , vile still gets defeated and zero is still alive probably
Joseph Huynh 😕well shit😆
3:54
i see what you did there ;D
The way he got beat was so dumb
Good bye Boba Fett
*VAVA Fett.
lol
Vile being a professional hater for almost 14 minutes straight
D-1 Hater
You could say Vile is a Class "S" Hater, instead of Hunter.
Vile - Also known as NOT A CHARGED SHOT!!!
I flippin love how zero is like: PRIORITIES FIRST VILE. I NEED TO PROTECC DIS PRECIOUS CHAILD. CYA *BOOWIP*
The swapping from beginning to end of boss fights makes Vile look absolutely OP.
boomerang kwanger is the best of the maverick.
Blue Jay bird blue BIG agree
Just remember. We never got more remakes (which would have been 2 through 6) of this caliber and effort because Capcom thought it was a good idea to make it a PSP exclusive.
THANKS CAPCOM. Truly smart of you to isolate your customer base
Honestly this probably would have worked best as a bundle with Mega Man Powered up to release on all other consoles at the time.
“we have no reason to fight”
*I always hated you storm eagle*
3:55 X, X, X! Why does everyone like that guy?
Always loved his last line in this. Viles that badguy you know wont win buy a part of you still wants it
xxx why does everyone like it
Because limitless potential. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Derpboy Zero hahaha boi
Vile is such naive reploid.
(insert lenny here please)
Vile is not in sigma's side, but they have one thing in common, they always come back
1:35 shows how pure x really is.
Armored Armadillo: _"You.... YOU DON'T FOLLOW ORDERS! I Pity You!"_
Vile: *"Eh???!!! B@%ch Don't Pity Me!"*
And I love the acting of vile too.
He definitely would’ve made more sense to have as the secondary antagonist in X5 instead of Dynamo.
Yeah. I never knew why they never went that route.
Only X and Zero disliked this video.
+Athrun Zala Lol, right? To be fair, they get utterly wrecked in this Vid, lol.
+John Jefferson though X did wreck Vile in return. narrowly xD
+Athrun Zala don't forget that axl did to
No duh
NOT A CHARGE SHOT
6:00 Vile's BEST LINE! LOL!
"Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm the one that's gonna change the world!"
Yep and eat this too
I not a charge shot
*_Change the world? Sounds like Maverick talk to me!_*
10:56 Nintendo when you mod their consoles
Or when pirating games
The Nintendo Ninjas are always watching
But Sega does what Nintendon't
Vile is pretty much Bass at this point
RedNightBlade _ Except he actually did shit
Blank Blank ...Like dying 3 times.
No kidding. Everything about him is equivalent to Bass😆
KJ The Hedgecat nope, Bass has at least shown concern for someone else than himself at least couple times in his life (although rarely) while Vile never has and is more destructive than Bass.
Gabriel Tejada
If anything Dynamo is closer to Bass.
Vile kind of sounds like the guy who feels he’s inferior to everyone and thus hates them due to his own self-importance issues and low self esteem.
Vile was just jealous more than I thought 😅
The animation leaves something to be desired, but the voice acting is incredible.
Vile's the most unmotivated character in all of gaming, he exists solely to cause trouble for others. He has no goals of world domination or anything, he just wants to pester X&Zero. He's kinda like Reverse Flash lol
What?
Well i guess thats why he's called Vile
Yep. That is kind of why I like him. He is just a straight up jerk.
Like the joker in the batman cómics?
He's just a hater. He exists solely to troll X. That's what makes him so good.
The Best Boba Fett in the History
Vile is so confuse that he doesn't know what side he wants to be on. Maybe he's just on his own side. I love vile tho.
Beat Chill Penguin and he gets Frost Tower, which halvens his damage taken.
And unlike X, this upgrade is in his way, not out of it.
afaik this was going to be an lorewise more accurate recreation of the series starting with this game but because Inafune.. jerked around during the mid 2000s those plans have been cancelled, along other plans like the Rockman World GB for GC(?) collection of games.
12:21 - LET ME JUST STAND HERE WHILE HE CHARGES
I think Armored Armadillo revealed it the best:
"You don't respect authority."
"You don't follow orders."
"I pity you."
i love vile's laugh in the english dub of this game, his overall english dub voice is great really, i just like his laugh a lot
11:20 is funny for no reason at all. Just hearing X screaming like that is hilarious.
Too bad more people don’t know about this game. Gives such personality to the characters and makes Vile so much more interesting
9:05 Spark Mandrill in a cheerleader outfit... *shudders violently*
Why does Chill Penguin sound like Wily in Powered Up?
It's the same Voice Actor. :D
to me, chill penguin sounds similar to Weavel from the yugioh series.
MsAngel HOLY SHIT
"I just hate you that all" lol
"Rebellion? Ha, ha, ha, ha... I couldn't care less. _I JUST HATE YOU!_ That's all!"
Jesus, that last cutscene was depressing.
Nice!
Mega Man/X: This is far as you Bass!/Let's finish this Bass!
3:55 I love how jealous he is of X lol, sooo salty
The fact rhat Vile takes more damage and that he can't dash is purely intentional
He's weaker than X in every aspect
I really like that music that played at the end of Vile's first cutscene.
13:36
This scene is so sad.
How sad?
@@setsers1 So sad
All reploids are based on X's design otherwise the other robots wouldn't have that advanced ai and tech, except zero he is the most advanced robot master.
Vile was fun to play as. He had so many ways to attack.
so as vile you technically lose the game due to the cutscene
Jakigh Colburn Channel 😕Well...
Maybe...
_😟Holy shit, I think you're probably right.😆_
*And all because he couldn't be bothered to kill one of the duo*
Vile, the one character who will not stand being second fiddle to the anime protag.
I don't know why, but I seriously love Boomer Kuwanger's style here. Maybe it's the voice?
You mean kakashi
I'm always shocked at how young Viles voice sounds. I expected it to be MUCH deeper...
If they ever make an anime, and translate it to English, can they PLEASE keep these voice actors?
th3azscorpio YES
They can't. Mark Gatha (X's VA) retired from voice acting. as for the others I'm not sure.
@@shinysamurott613 They've all retired I believe.
Sayvion Washington not Johnny Yong Bosch, he’s still voice acting.
@@sayvionwashington1939 X, Sigma, and Axl's are, Zero's is semi--retired, while Vile's is still active.
Unfortunately, Capcom only rarely uses Canadian voice pools these days, and a new MMX game would almost certainly be recorded in LA
