I like Snipe Anteater's dialogue for X and Zero. For X he's right that the madness will continue to go on and I love how he backs X into a corner when he says he can't build a utopia on top of the graves of rebels. He also references how Zero was destroyed twice and will be sealed for a good while with his interaction with Zero
He is referencing megaman zero. X becomes copy X a lying power hungry dictator. Zero is sealed away and later awakened by ciel and the scraps of rubble are all the reploids zero will destroy

Tonion asking X for help is kind of sad. It makes me think about what Stonekong said, and why Hyenard went bananas like he did. I think they probably didn't agree with what was going on, and that maybe in Hyenard's case he was driven mad to keep him from stopping Sigma's plans.
Yeah the acting and translation harms it, but the idea that the Red Alert members were aware they were in the wrong, and not entirely willing participants, is pretty clever. It reminds me of some of the dialog in X5 where a few of the bosses are in the process of going maverick when you find them, a couple view their impending deaths as a mercy killing, some snap during conversation, at least one is suffering from delusions.
With the Hyenard encounter, the Japanese version of Axl came across as "I'm sorry. Death is the only mercy I can give suffering Mavericks." But here he tries to present it as a cheesy attempt to be cool. Which in turn makes him come across as socipathic.
Really? That makes sense. I always thought that line was a bit out of character for him, so I'm glad I saw this! Honestly the dialogue in this game gets flak for being cheesy, but characterization of the three hunters is something I feel they should get more credit for. Everyone's very easily distinguished from one another, even if it's not any great sci fi thriller novel. I mean, none of the x games are, so I don't know why we think this one in particular falls so short. What I'm saying is, aside from odd translation choices like the one you pointed out, I don't think people have an argument when it comes to X7 not knowing what it's tone is supposed to be. The funny onion guy has a funny onion voice, what's the problem, right?

Axl had some decent lines given the fact he was actually friends with all the bosses. X had a few moments where his moral conundrums made sense given the fact he's seen nothing but death and destruction for 6 prior games. But fuck this game. You can't play as X until you beat like 5 stages _and he takes up 70% of the cover art._ Not to mention the piss-poor level design, janky hitboxes, and everything involving Flame Hyenard. Mega Man games always had shitty voice acting but at least MM8 and MMX4 were fun to play.
John Santos every character is bad. The only thing I can say for red is “What? What do you MEAN!?” Zero sounds like he’s played this game and just wants to die. Axl sounds like Naruto in 2002 but way worse. X sounds like a whiney prick who’s just “MEEEHHHHH violence”. Sigma sounds like a chain smoker on more than just cigarettes. Let’s not even begin to talk about the Mavericks like hyefart and bornado tonion.
I'll give the voice work here this: The characters sound more distinctive compared to the VAs in X8. All 3 of the MCs sound identical to each other in X8. Either sacrifice vocal uniqueness for good voice work, or vice versa.
