The game looked like an attempt to reboot X series. But bcs of the disaster that is MMX7, ppl first impression is that 3D MMX sucks. I still think Days of Sigma is one of the best MMX related thing that Capcom had done.
Ya I do I grew up playing the games (the first 5, the ones that mattered). The first one came out in 93 after I already was a huge Mega Man fan and already had 2-5 on NES. X was such a HUGE upgrade, everything we ever wanted on Mega Man, we got on this new character. The themes were more mature but somehow had its history rooted in the story of the characters themselves. I remember being so angry they ruined Mega Man X5 with two things, the first being the AWFUL names they arbitrarily gave to the Mavericks instead of their actual names from Japan even translated by them! And the 2nd was the useless team you had that just seemed pointless and out of place plus Alia was almost game breaking. Along with the levels which are mostly terrible. They got all the nostalgia close to being right but then fucked up bad in many areas. It also should have been the end of the series I don’t count the games after this (the awful MMX6 on PS One, and the two PS2 games). They got so close but so far. And I didn’t even like any of the mega man spin offs they came out with including Mega Man Zero games (and ZX series 🙄) or the MM data battle, and even the 3D PS one games (legends and Bon Tronne) they weren’t fun to me at all. I loved Mega Man and Mega Man X but I thought the spin-offs were god awful.
Except that Vile doesn't fill the anti hero role. An anti hero does justice and good even if his methods are questionable or violent. Vile just wants havoc and destruction, inflicting as much damage and pain as he can in his path.
@@TheTrueBro If i remember correctly, Vile only wants to create his own world. He doesn't attack innocent people or destroy cities just like other mavericks do.
Vile was created to be the strongest reploid gone maverick which was why both X and Zero had trouble with him, Sigma was dangerous but not as dangerous as Vile
Imagine what could've been The maverick hunter X series could've remade the X games into a coherent narrative the improvements they could've made to 5 6 7 & 8
I might be crazy but I cant help but see X, Zero, and Vile as parallels to Mega man, Proto Man, and Bass. I mean that's probably the intention but after playing Mega man Games for almost all of my life, I never really noticed how similar Bass and Vile are in motives. In the Classic games, Bass is only intent on proving that he's the superior model robot. These intentions are also put into writing in the Bass ending of Mega man The Power Battlers 2. In this ending, Bass tells Wily that he's the strongest robot ever to exist, far surpassing Mega man, to which surprisingly Wily laughs. He reveals he was constructing a new robot, the "God of Destruction" who would bring his enemies, and Mega man, to their knees. This was Zero. Bass was still angry and confident in his own power that he left in a rage, proclaiming he would prove himself even further, challenging to defeat this robot when it came to completion. Vile has a similar motive. In this version of the story of Mega man X, Vile is not a lowly follower of Sigma, but is fighting for Sigma's approval and validation that he is stronger than X, the robot with unlimited potential. This is even further backed by his claim throughout the story, that he is stronger than X and is the superior model. But Sigma's response is both funny to me but also haunting. Sigma CAUSES Vile to realize the stupidity of his mission. Sigma FORCES Vile to understand his foolish plan's inability to be complete. Sigma INDUCES UNCERTAINTY in Vile, by not directly answering his question about X's significance, and it's chilling. Sigma knows that X is his nemesis, and this is because he can sense the ultimate potential of X. Were X to become Maverick and go rogue against the world of both humans and reploids, the world would be in jeopardy. Sigma didn't want to simply destroy X, he wanted to utilize him and Weaponize him. Actually, it's funny how in the Mega man Zero series, Copy X was never supposed to be a Copy. The original story slated X as a Maverick ruling over Neo Arcadia, a sanctuary for humans, as a cruel and indifferent, and frankly gen*cidal leader. The writers decided to make him a Copy solely because they didn't want to tarnish X's legacy, but I feel like the story of Mega man Zero would have been drastically different if Zero was forced to keep up his end of the deal made at the end of X's story in Mega man X4.
Thinking about it now, I feel Vile is lacking more attention. Capcom as always can't seem to find more for him, giving a 4 game gap and to what end? Always getting destroyed. In X8, he bombed himself with a ride armor. I wonder his motives are still the same if he comes back. Or if they ever make a new game
Still pissed that Vile lost to a single regular charged shot when he was tanking multiple charge shots from Zero and fully upgraded X seconds ago and brushing them off like they were nothing.
It should have released on the Nintendo 3DS to reignite the reboot series. I am still upset that we did not get a Mega Man Powered Up 2 and Mega Man Powered Up 3. Was looking forward to those, especially MMPU3.
I really think they should continue develop remaking/rebooting the franchise rather than making X Dive, but the market proves different. That's the reality now, it is more profitable to capitalize an iconic character of a person who left the company rather than continue the legacy. Same situation with Castlevania franchise, no new games but only featuring characters from the series on some games.

Vile would be a perfect anti-hero of X series
He is way to superficial as a character. But he is still nice. Nice enough to be relevant for the X saga games.
we would fit perfectly to be X's Bass... aka the guy who wants to prove he's better than protagonist, that just so happens to do the right thing.
