    I have a reoccurring dream involving you two, and this show.
    It always goes the same way,
    starts out with a cold open with Matt talking about cheese in movies. Is it good, is it bad? Craig misinterprets, and talks about how mozzarella is his least favourite. Queue intro.
    Matt: You're a lot of things Craig. But manly is not one of them. This movie, is manly. It invented manly. You become more manly just being in the same room as it. Manly.
    Craig: This is... weird? Ive never heard of it.
    Matt then brings out Craig's gift. A manly man. Kyle Gas from tenacious D. Apparently they're supposed to lick his armpits.
    Matt is into it. Craig is not. Cut to the old leather couch just before Craig reaches the armpit.
    The movie starts out in some sort of fancy party. Tons of celebrities are there. Like Kevin Hart, and the Rock. Kevin Hart is lying and saying he and the rock are friends. The other guests don't believe him.
    Kevin: Well, me and the Rock are reading Eurydice!
    Then he storms off, upset, hiding tears.
    The rock is a great guy. He's covering for Kevin Hart.
    Rock: Oh great, now i have to buy that book too!
    We see a pop-up with a decrease in the Rocks bank account for the price of the book.
    On the other side of the party Matt and Craig are standing in the movie. Craig swipes a flute of champagne from a passing waitress. Looking back the waitress bumps into another waitress who proceeds to drop her tray of fresh hors d'oeuvres. The Hors d'oeuvres waitress runs off in a huff. The champagne waitress crouches down to clean up.
    Craig say "tough day huh?" to the waitress. She laughs slightly. Craig is sooo charming.
    But Matt realises that they're IN the movie. And they're changing the outcome of it.
    Matt tells Craig this and they go run off to save the movie.
    Or at least i assume they do, I don't know. I always seem to wake up at that point.
    So dear Matt and Craig, does any of this sound familiar? Is this an actual movie? Or have I fallen asleep too many times while listening to this show, and it's affected my brain? Thanks.

    • @craigjohnson6423
      @craigjohnson6423 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      This wasn't a dream. You're remembering the episode that we watched "Manly," [episode 121] starring The Rock, Kevin Hart, Matt Sloan, Craig Johnson and Anne Hathaway as the champagne waitress.

    I think it's important that they had the Martinez character have a past that suggests the possibility of serious criminal behavior. If all three were just seen as being purely innocent and being in the wrong place at the wrong time, it would leave you with too easy of a message to take away: That every person in the posse was simply a monster that can only be subject to condemnation by the viewer, as opposed to a genuine belief in a sense of justice that went awry.

    Watching this after the last Unboxing, and I have no idea what the perceived criticism was about with regards to the movie choice. This is a fantastic episode, with more than one laugh out loud moment.
    I really have to wonder at the people who criticise episodes of WTTB because of the subject matter, rather than the comedy and insights of Matt and Craig. E.g. the guy who said he would skip watching the religious movie because it might offend him "as a Christian", or people who say "I don't know this movie so I don't care about this episode". You're doing a great disservice to yourself by not taking each episode as it is. Their loss, I suppose.

    An oxbow lake is a U-shaped lake that forms when a wide meander from the main stem of a river is cut off, creating a free-standing body of water. This landform is so named for its distinctive curved shape, which resembles the bow pin of an oxbow. In Australia, an oxbow lake is called a billabong, from the indigenous Wiradjuri language. In south Texas, oxbows left by the Rio Grande are called resacas.
    The word "oxbow" can also refer to a U-shaped bend in a river or stream, whether or not it is cut off from the main stream.

    After seeing this movie, I was tempted to read the book. Rose plays a bigger part in the novel, Art (Harry Morgan's character) is the narrator & does a lot of the things Gil does in the movie, & if I remember correctly Art and Gil AREN'T one of the seven...there is only 5 that step across. Plus I love the shot of Sparks standing alone across the line.

    • @craigjohnson6423
      @craigjohnson6423 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was thinking Rose had to be a bigger part in the book. That justifies her superfluous appearance. Would have been very interesting to see a version of this where Fonda and Morgan weren't brave enough to vote down the hanging, even if they had already spoken up in the defendants' defense.
