Count Bakula gets a guest role on Sesame Street opposite the Count as the Count Backula, counting in reverse.

Count Bakula sounds like it would be similar to Shadow of the Vampire where Willem Dafoe plays a fictionalized version of Max Schreck during the making of Nosferatu with the twist being that he is actually a real vampire as well.

But was it actually a mutiny if they were following protocol? I suppose "They followed Protocol on the Caine" isn't a very exciting title.

Count Bakula is an absolutely brilliant idea for a dark comedy show. It could cover every conceivable area of acting and Scott Bakula definitely has the great acting chops to pull off both roles.
Ned is a funny, lovable, yet somewhat bitter, bumbling, fool, with all kinds of various flaws and self destructive vices. He's ambitious about literally having his day in the sun, but he's also deeply conflicted about what his brother must continually do in order to stay alive.
Scott is a mixture of two very different personalities. He is still partly the old very likeable, nice guy, husband, father and consumate professional actor. But he's also this newer, very dark, very menacing, mysterious, cold, hypnotic killer, since becoming a vampire. Scott's old human side is even more deeply conflicted than Ned. He still feels and experiences many of his old emotions like a deep love for his wife and kids and the guilt, shame and sympathy for his victims.
It also bothers him that he must sometimes cheat on his wife in order to lure his beautiful female victims to their deaths. Occasionally, he must also feed on some of his less powerful and less connected, male Hollywood friends. Sometimes, he feels very bad about all of the killing and other times, he strategically kills other competing or very annoying actors, whom he dislikes, so he can get their acting roles.
This could be one of those popular series, where famous actors are just lining up for the fun job of playing alternate versions of themselves as guest stars and everyone is begging to be killed off in an episode of Count Bakula.
I must be really weird, because I can see this show as the writers' and actors' dreams come true. It could be very funny, heart warming, tear jerking, thought provoking and scary, all in the same episode. It has Emmy nominations written all over it.

I love that scene in Wonderboys
Finally, the door opened. It-was a shock to see him, shuffling into the room like an aging prizefighter. Limping. Beaten. But it was later, when the great man squinted into the bitter glow or twilight and muttered simply, "It means nothing. All of it. Nothing," that the true shock came. It was then that the boy understood that his hero's true injuries lay hidden in a darker place. His heart, once capable of inspiring others so completely, could no longer inspire so much as itself. It beat now only out of habit. It beat now only because it could.

    • @cmtenuta1

That's the line I'm talking about. The other line- the one written by the aging prizefighter- is the one about how many hands tall the horse is.

Ran wasn't conceived an a King Lear adaptation. It was inspired by a legend about the warlord Mōri Motonari. It was only in the early stages of the script that Kurosawa noticed, or maybe someone pointed out to him, the similarities it had to King Lear. He rewrote the script to contain more Shakespeare parallels.
Maybe that's why Matt likes it better.

I believe fletcher's speech about him never finding his charlie parker. And its neiman who ends up besting him. Using his own anger to fuel his war against him during his solo.
Yes, fletcher was an asshole for sure. But he did force the greatness out of him. Look at the story that takes place during the drum solo. Neiman: Begins playing without fletchers approval (like the very begining of his film) abandons his fear of fletcher/ finds his drive to struggle past a hardship (when he hits him in the face with the cymbal) and as time passes through the solo, he allows fletcher to direct him to a grand finish into the titular song. Fulfilling his and fletcher's prisuit and birthing (respectively) of greatness.
Without the hate and the infinite drive instilled in him... he wouldnt have won...
