Relaxing Ice Crawl with Vanquish Phoenix! RC Trail Run

Just a little trailing video exploring the frozen creek in 12 Mile Coulee.
Shooting here got me in a contemplative mood which comes through in the editing. I was thinking about liminal spaces: those often uncomfortable places (physical or psychological) of transition between one state an another. Like a truck poised on the edge of a decent. Committed, it can no longer go backwards, but it has not yet arrived at its destination-it is not what it was nor what it will be.
Making these videos is a cerebral act. It’s a vicariuous act, sure, but also a subversive one. Observed from the outside, the human driver/film-maker seems to be playing. But to the artist, this play is a form of creation. Something from nothingness. Places and objects designed or set aside for a specific purpose used out-of-context. An abandoned rock or creek becomes a microcosm of intensely focused energy. That which is invisible to the outsider becomes the universe to the creator, and the outside world disappears in happy, though temporary, oblivion.
