Element Ecto is on a mission! Rock crawling in the Canadian Rockies

I’ve been watching too many war movies lately.
The Element RC Enduro Ecto gets the call this time, to recon some new terrain in the Canadian Rockies. Acres of broken blocks and steep limestone slabs were on offer. The Ecto came back lightly scarred, but alive, which is always the goal.

I’ve hiked Jura Creek numerous times (and driven my Defender there), and I’ve done the Door Jamb Mountain/Loder Peak scramble. For several years I’ve thought that the lower shoulder of Door Jamb might have some potential as a rock crawling area.
We arrived late in the afternoon, and the sun sets early this time of year, especially in the mountain valleys. I had to hurry to capture some video before sunset. There is lots of potential in the area if you watch out for trials dirt bikes that use the trails-they are not going very fast and you can hear them coming. Step to the side of the trail so they don’t have to make any unexpected maneuvers. Also, be aware that a slip or fall in this area could be disastrous for you and/or your truck-there is a bit of exposure and the sharp weathered limestone will tear you up.
The weather was fine this day and the ground wonderfully free of snow, which is not usually the case in mid-November.
