*I lost 120 pounds in 2018 on a Carnivore Diet, I maintained that in 2019. In 2020 I struggled with some weight gain and then lost it again in 2021. For the last few years I have been maintaining a healthy weight. In December 2022 I had skin removal surgery (tummy tuck). This channel just documents all of that journey and how our family lives normal lives and eats a meat based diet.

1:30 you never primed yourself. You might even be still struggling with weight because of not priming. Good thing is you can still do it and get the results you want without portion/quantity control. Steak and butter gal did an episode on it recently. If I find it I'll drop it here for you.

After a year and a half on carnivore, I realized that my transition would have been easier if had adapted my favorite textures into a carnivore way of eating. I love soups, so I found a way to make chunky carnivore soups that would satisfy. I love crunchy, so I make sure I have chicken wings often. I love creamy, so deviled eggs fit the bill. Carnivore is now easy for me. 😊

@@user-bn3sf4rf5s Why certainly! It's chicken with meatballs soup. 1 lb chicken, 1 lb ground beef. Use skinless chicken thighs, cut into small pieces and brown them in butter. Make meatball mixture with ground beef, ground pork rinds and egg. Add salt and any other seasonings you like. Make them small enough so you can eat one whole. Brown them in a skillet. Add 1 to 1 1/2 qts of chicken broth or stock to the butter. Add in your chicken and meatballs. Cook for 1/2 hour and it's done!

    1. Yes, you CAN gain weight on a carnivore diet.
    2. Protein is important, don't undereat protein.
    3. Stop snacking (emotional eating).
    4. Carnivore "rules" don't really matter, they are more like guides. Look at effects on your own body, positive and negative.
    5. Don't let perfect be the enemy of the good. You don't have to be perfect. Consistency IS important.
    6. Carnivore can't fix everything or heal all health issues. You might need additional help or tools.
Bonus: Find a way to sustainably incorporate exercise, starting slowly and building up.

I gained 10lbs on carnivore noticed I was eating WAY to many calories for my needs. And I was eating one meal a day. If I had two meals I noticed I was hungry more. I did the diet for 19 months. My weight was a roller coaster on that diet. Never lost a big amount off weight and my cravings for sweets never went away. Now my body is craving vegetables lots of vegetables. Like I can’t get enough of them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@jamiv2342 I'm doing carnivore. I find I need to monitor my calorie count. It's VERY easy to take in too many calories. Even on OMAD. I have back pain. I'm noticing a decrease in pain. Along with some other health issues have healed.

@@jamiv2342 The same. I was in a weight-loss challenge and I tried to switch to Carnivore and it definitely diminished my overall weight-loss and caused many issues I did not have (itchy skin, diarrhea back, joint pain). The individual experience can be frustrating, but life is long, and just give yourself the freedom to adjust mindfully. Be specific, carve a path that is fun and body/mind friendly. Good luck, y'all!

    • @cocosilkworm
      @cocosilkworm หลายเดือนก่อน +4

@@jamiv2342 Which vegetables are you eating most? You might find a happy medium if you eat meat 5 days a week, include eggs and cheese if you tolerate them, and have a day or two where you eat a vegetarian meal, plant protein instead of meat, but pay attention to the vegetables and try and work out which ones are triggering inflammation / pain. It could be the ones high in oxalates, or ones with lectins, or salicylates, or maybe it's the nightshades. I feel like I can eat cucumber and cabbage and avocado without issues. But tomatoes, as much as I love them, upset my digestion. Macadamia nuts constipate me. Cooked broccoli and cauliflower, as well as beans (legumes) bloat me so I have to eat only small amounts at a time. I think meat for several meals a day every single day is overkill. But one small (or large) serving a day with animal fats and protein, either meat or eggs, is probably a good idea. But if you just don't feel like eating meat one day, skip it on that day and have a salad instead. Come back to the meat when your mouth starts to ask for it again. But don't listen to your mouth if it's asking for junk food. It's not to be trusted then.. 😂

    I agree with Laura 100%!
Hello, I'm a 50 year old perimenipause woman who's in remission from chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was on a weekly biologic injectible medication "Enbrel," with other prescriptions like Celebrex, Methotrexate, Tramadol & Prednisone at times that made my immune system sick and my body obese & weak starting at the age of 27. I started eating a ketogenic lifestyle in September 2019, and I'm mainly carnivore "Ketovore" now. This way of eating is the only thing that has helped my weight loss of 60 lbs, severe pain, inflammation, and other metobolic health conditions. Also, I started implementing lifting heavy weights, strength training & balance exercises 4 times a week last April. It has been a new life for me! You can seek your true health every day, starting with what you eat/drink & don't eat/drink.
    Peace & Health,
    Christine Peters

On May 1, I started month 9 of carnivore. Easiest thing I’ve ever done! I did keto for several years and then transitioned to carnivore. In the process I lost over 40 pounds (I’m about 8 pounds away from my goal weight), and as of a week ago, was told by my doctor that I no longer have sleep apnea! That was never on my radar because I didn’t know that was even possible! He told me it was the weight loss and the change in diet.

Appreciate your channel.. I’m 65, I started at 270 1st of Dec 2023, I’m now at 235, I’m headed for 210.. I believe in flexibility, I’m not a protein/calorie/ macro counter, focus on cutting carbs and eating my steaks in the evening.. 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon in the mornings, if needed a FEW pork rinds and or jerky for lunch, usually a steak w/ mushrooms and onions for dinner.. sometimes pork chops/fish/chicken.. sometimes small salads and vegetables.. if I don’t get enough protein I get hungry at bed time.. for me a lil popcorn has taken the edge off.. All this while drinking Diet Cokes all day long.. I know, I can see the anti soda folks shaking their heads, and I agree, but it’s my vice, for now I’m losing weight. I have a cruise at the end of the month, I plan on continuing on the carnivore (ketovore) on the cruise (which I don’t think will be that hard) and after.. it feels good to have the weight off after 10 years.. thanks again Laura and to all the encouraging comments from your followers.. everyone needs to find what works for them..

Cravings disappeared after 6 months. That's when I got strict, quit artificial sweeteners and cheese, figured out I had to stop trying to make carnivore sweets and hacks that just kept the addiction going. It also helps to know how toxic seed oils are, I can now smell the rancidity of anything with seed oils and I don't recognize it as food.

Cheese is a carnivore food. However, it can definitely stall weight loss for some people. One could probably say many people. I aspire to give up cheese one day. lol I'm sure that cheese for me triggers some other cravings. I am healing but I'm not losing weight. I know what I need to do. I switched my way of eating a couple of months ago, this time, making sure I am in a calorie deficit, while keeping my protein at 1gram per pound of body weight. Finally have achieved my goal and can see my Abs. Keto was a great learning experience, but at the same time, It is very important to know your calorie maintenenance number and work with that. Yesterday was Easter. I have had problems before when doing carnivore but the holidays have tripped me up and then I fell clear off the wagon. I got my husband M&M's, so I had one. It didn't test that good. Then later I had a piece of apple pie. It didn't really appeal to me any more. I think giving in to a slight craving before it became a monster kind of put it in its place. Today I am back in carnivore. Lesson to learn don't wait to give in to a slight craving until it becomes an uncontrollable monster.

I was on Keto for about 6 years. Then at the beginning of the year, I did a water only fast for 40 days. After that, I began doing carnivore. My situation is different, though. 19 months ago, I had foot surgery, then another, which became infected. Finally, after 8 surgeries, they removed all the hardware they had installed before. Now I'm in a worse condition. I can't walk, and my body is in stress due to my foot. As a result, my blood sugar is elevated. But the surgeon won't do the corrective surgery that I need until my blood sugar is normal, but my sugar is elevated because of my foot. I called my sugar doctor, but the earliest he can see me is 3 weeks. Meanwhile, I'm continuing doing carnivore, but it's a bit discouraging.

Can I ask what type of surgery you had? I’ve had multiple ankle surgeries over 10 years and the same foot and ankle somehow developed Septic Arthritis, to which I had to have surgery and stay in hospital for 3 weeks.
      Has carnivore been helping ?

    • @lowellmorton1708

@@joelbasist7935 The tendon on the side of my foot had severed. I had walked on the foot, not knowing it happened, for 20 years. As a result, my foot had collapsed inward and my ankle had shifted to the inside of my foot. The doctor, instead of repairing the tendon, chose to stabilize the foot with two screws in the foot and two in my ankle. After 3 months, I was still throwing my foot, and with another x-ray, the doctor announced that I had "blown out" my deltoid tendon, too. He scheduled another surgery to repair the two tendons. A week afterward, he said the wound had become infected. The next five surgeries were used to arrest the infection. Finally, during the 8th surgery They removed all the hardware, because the infection had settled in the Teflon adhesions and anchors. I spent 4 times in the hospital, usually about 3 weeks each time. The wound is healed, but my foot is in a worse condition than at first. My sugar is now regulated, but I have to wait until this summer when my A1C shows. My Constant Glucose Monitor shows my Glucose Management Indicator is 5.4. That's encouraging. I'm waiting until the surgeon will schedule the next surgery and get this thing resolved. Sept. 26 will be two years. Carnivore has been helping, but I don't think I will see the full results until after recovery from the next surgery.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:53 *🍽️ Weight gain is possible on a carnivore diet due to broken hunger signals; setting boundaries and monitoring non-scale indicators of health are crucial.*
03:52 *🥩 Adequate protein intake is essential on a carnivore diet to support bodily functions and prevent fatigue; calculate lean body mass to determine protein needs.*
05:44 *🚫 Snacking on a carnivore diet is often emotional rather than hunger-driven; aim for satisfying meals and allow time between meals for digestion.*
06:51 *📜 The rigidity of carnivore rules is less important than how foods affect individual health and align with personal goals; focus on sustainability and individual needs.*
09:11 *💯 Consistency trumps perfection on a carnivore diet; prioritize long-term adherence over strict adherence to rules or sourcing.*
11:02 *💡 Carnivore is not a cure-all; addressing emotional food relationships and considering other health interventions may be necessary for overall well-being.*

I usually don't leave comments on videos, this is actually my first. I want to thank you, Laura, for all the helpful information you provided and for easing my fears.
I don't have to eat only beef; beef here is very expensive, lean, and pricey. Instead (and now i know this thanks to you), I eat eggs, pork, chicken, bacon (I wish I could find the quantity you buy there also here in a single pack), and I have a bad habit of drinking diet cola or vitamin water with no sugar.
At first, I didn't believe in this diet. I've tried many others before, like vegetarian, greens, and chicken. To this day, I still dislike chicken breast. I've even tried fasting for 3-5 days, but I always ended up gaining back the weight, even double or triple. I was always hungry.
For 6 days now, I've been following a carnivore diet with some bad habits still lingering, like my cola and occasionally coffee with milk and no sugar.
These are my results, and it's all thanks to you. You convinced me when I believed I couldn't do anything to lose weight:

    Left thigh - 35.43 inches (90 cm)
    Right thigh - 33.86 inches (86 cm)
    Weight: 295.41 lbs (134 kg)
    DATE 10 April 2024
    Neck - 15.75 inches (40 cm)
    Bust - 50.39 inches (128 cm)
    Waist - 45.67 inches (116 cm)
    Hips - 58.27 inches (148 cm)
    Left thigh - 34.65 inches (88 cm)
    Right thigh - 33.07 inches (84 cm)
    Weight: 284.17 lbs. (128.9 kg)
Thank you for restoring my hope and showing me that I'm not alone on this journey. You've truly changed my life, and I will be forever grateful.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Laura, I SO appreciate your transparency and generously sharing your experience for the benefit of others. I am still new to keto/carnivore, only about a month in, so honeymoon phase. I am closing in on 65, and have battled my body since the age of 10! Something you said really hit me, and that is (and I’m paraphrasing) that you reached a point when you really needed to figure out why you have issues with food. BOOM! I am beginning to see the factors that have led me to turn to food in every circumstance of life. That is finally changing, and even more than getting the weight off, I believe the real victory will be releasing the emotional weight! Thank you. I wish you and your family a wonderful adventure in Spain! God bless you all!💖

Thank you for sharing this. I love your videos. I did carnivore for a year and lost 80 pounds the first few months...then I stalled but I still had a lot of weight to lose. I had watched many videos and tried so many things to get over the stall for about 8 months and no change, I was so discouraged and slowly started eating unhealthy things...I gained the weight back, as well as a lot of pain. I felt great on carnivore but all the "rules" I just couldn't deal with...seeing this encourages me to begin again and know I don't have to feel guilty if I eat a salad from time to time. I'm literally in tears because I've been so disgusted and angry at myself, but this has helped me feel hopeful again and forgive myself...I am starting again right now...thank you so much. ❤️

Thanks Laura! I've been carnivore for 20 months or so and if I've learned anything, it's that it just take time to figure out what works best for me. There's no magic fix for sure. But, after 20 months, I've got it down to where everything is really good. But, of course, I expect I'll go on tweaking as I age, things change, and whatever else happens!

Just found you and so glad I did. I can't tell you how I needed to hear this. I fgured how was I ever going to go on strict carnivore because I enjoy eating my fruits and veggies. They don't bother me in any way and I just like eating them. So many carnivores out there are like this is the only way to heal yourself etc... I was hoping there was a voice out there so I didn't have to closet eat my fruits and veggies. Again thank you so much.

Thank you for your honesty about your journey and so many other things.
I’ve noticed lately more carnivore coaches are realizing that perfection is not something that they should push on people. I also appreciate your comments about how it doesn’t fix everything. So many people out there probably think they’re doing it wrong when not getting all the results they see others getting.
    Keep up the great work!

Hi Laura...by now you're living in Spain!!! Have a great life in Spain and can't wait to see videos you might post from there; hope to see you eating all the great fish that's available there. This video (I think you made it before you left Arizona for Spain) starts with you saying you only eat meat, but nearly every other video of yours shows you also eating some cheese here and there. I have found cheese is a very slippery slope for me and I just can't do it. You need to be a little more up front with saying you "...only eat meat..." Cheese is NOT meat. It's "animal based" and all cheese is not the same. Cheese from raw milk is better than processed milk as the source. And we have all heard the various carn. doctors talk about "casomorphines" (or is that quesomorphines?) which are totally addictive by design/evolution...so that babies will take in as much mother's milk as possible so they can grow quickly as infants. BUT I totally agree that "snacking" is an emotional event. I've been carnivore now for 27 months and your videos have totally helped me while on this path. Thank you!!

Get a cheap binder, take notes on when you eat, where you eat, what feelings lead to your eating, time of day, list of foods after you’ve eaten. 30 minutes later write out the effects; bloated, tired, satisfied, energetic. You are your own advocate, act accordingly. You’re either on Team YOU or you’re not. Get on board for yourself. Good luck 👍🏻

Hi Laura, thank you for this super helpful information. Im 52 and have started low carb two weeks ago and am a little overwhelmed at the conflicting advice out there but your advice makes perfect sense to me. I love meat, and I have decided to go low carb to start with to see how that helps me lose the 50lbs I need to drop, then I realise I may need to try total carnivore at some future junction. I can report that even after 2 weeks, I have dropped 9lbs, and I am sleeping better and my painful joints have eased so much plus I have so much more energy. Even if I had not lost any weight, I would stay on this just for the other benefits it has brought to my life so far. I will keep in simple I think......eat when Im hungry, stop when Im satiated, try and eat as much protein and fat as I want to and see how I go. As you say, I may need to tweak things here and there along the journey. I appreciate your help and you look amazing.

Have a lot to go so saying I don't have to be legal and if a couple of olives or little pickles or a little saurkraut is ok for me. I do have trouble le some days getting in all the meat. I'm glad to hear you encourage walking, I'm getting that in. You make a difference in lives here, so I appreciate iate you.

I just started recently, but I have found eating twice a day works best, however, as far as a snack goes, I work in a moderately labor intensive job and find myself needing a bit more fuel by 2 or 3 in the afternoon. I always take 2 hardboiled eggs to work with me for those instances. I have even begun calling them my "power bars." Just a small boost to keep me moving til quitting time.

Thanks Laura. Tip of combining meats is making my second attempt this week work much better. So today I made your meat balls, cut a pork belly into strips, added lamb chops, steak in small pieces and minced beef to stir fry with maybe eggs. So now I can have a mix which makes it more palatable. I hope I’m ok in mixing up some sour cream, cream cheese and 1/2 lemon juice, salt and use maybe a teaspoon dribbled over to add more flavour. At least I feel more able to stick to it this time. Bread and pastries are totally my undoing. I’m old and very obese so I’d like the last bit of my life to be physically able to continue living alone in a caravan park.

Hey folks, quick question- I hit the 12 week mark this week - went from 196 to 173 so far and feel amazing. My original goal was 170 lbs, but my new goal is 165. I feel great, and averaging 2 lbs a week. I’ve been doing either one meal a day recently or two on some days. Once I hit goal, I’m thinking of adding a bit of fruit each week and a bit of veggies. Any suggestions on changes to make once the goal is hit?

Thank you for your video. I started carnivore a few weeks ago and it’s been challenging. I am in my 60’s and morbidly obese. Since starting, I’ve tracked everything I eat in Carb Manager just to see where I’m at on protein. I don’t even come close. I pretty much stay around 40 grams. I have zero appetite and have to force myself to eat (never thought that would happen 😂). Is that going to change eventually?
