I have this truck now with 3 speed, new pipe and metel spur gear + upgraded all the stock gears to stronger ones. Now it's truly a MONSTER! I recomemd however up grading spur gear to metal... Superb Vid :-)

I explicitly remember the night before placing our order (still wavering between the two) watching this video and thinking, "That does it. I'm getting the Savage!" and never regretted it. So thank you again. I had completely forgotten about that until I came across this video tonight/ ;-)
@traxxasrusty1 Hell yes they strip spur gears, or just melt the clutch disk out, I have a nice stack of worthless ones. Best fix I came up with is to tighten slipper as tight as you can and upgrade to metal gear, and make sure your gear mesh is perfect. Been running mine like this with no problems.

Great vid man.. I think I'm gonna picking one of these up very soon!! I stupidly bought a T-Maxx 3.3 and have spent more time repairing it than having fun. Just watching this vid the dollar signs in my mind are racking up on parts that would have already broke on the Maxx.. I noticed your break in method was slightly different than what I did with the Maxx, is that the HPI way or your chosen method? Thanks for posting a great vid and I'm looking forward to seeing more..
Hey guys let me share my story. I had a savage 3.5 for over 2 years and WHAT A SHIT CAR motor never worked properly and trust me i,m in this hobby for over 10 years so i know how nitro's work. I was sick and tired of it so i went over to electric and OMFG what a blast!! now i have 2 Traxxas cars the Stampede 4x4 vxl and the 1/16 slash 4x4 vxl and dear god i love them so much!! ... thx for letting me share my story! :D

id use 30 10 is too low just make sure you adjust it and watch the engine heat i would run mine a little rich even
