- GTPlanet’s comprehensive review of Gran Turismo 7 with the PlayStation 5 Pro and PSVR2 is here! We take a closer look at how "PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution", or PSSR, affects gameplay in Gran Turismo 7 with side-by-side footage, and compare how the game performs with the feature disabled on the PS5 Pro compared to the standard PS5. As a PS4 and PC player without a current gen console, I’ve never felt more compelled to waste money on a console as I feel now. This game in VR just might be my reason to buy a PS5 pro.
This makes me wish we had a car traffic mode in GT7, especially in the City tracks
I feel like track day challenges would be amazing, like trying to do a time trial with a bunch of random cars on the track, or with them having some light traffic in Tokyo

For me the visual upgrade in GT7 for PSVR2 alone was worth getting the PS5 Pro.

@ I did enable PS5 Pro reprojection in the settings. That's what breaks the car info UI.
Because i'm VR user and spending lot of time everyday on GT7. I bought the pro version of the PS5. No regret at all. As Said in that video i'll never go back to the standard version. With the pro the gameplay is so comfortable, the global quality is better. Less retroprojection is better experience. I'm like a kid and want to try every track now. I've also noticed the enhancement of the rain. Take a Gr1 on Le Mans, grab a R08 Heavy Rain and enjoy. This look now awesome and realistic. On the standard PS5 the rain effect is poor and garbage compared to the new rain. Differences are subtiles on TH-cam videos. If you have the money and want better immersive sensations Grab the Ps5 pro.

Ive been playing since gt7 got support and with the pro is clearly better in headset and the option to remove blur is much better
Agreed. Same Boat. I tried yesterday Le mans with the Porsche Gr1 under heavy rain. The rain is now so realistic in VR.
Is the framerate also better than the normal PS5? I do not care about visual quality, only frame rate. It would be awesome if u can give me an answer :)

I have ps4 pro now and this video has convinced me to buy ps5 pro. I'd been waiting for the pro since last year but once it came out I wasn't convinced due to the price and lack of physical drive. Hower, I plan to buy ps vr2 as well, mostly for gt7. So, it's a no brainer now. Thanks!
If it's your first ps5 and you're getting psvr2, then yes, it's absolutely worth it. It's hard to explain the difference between Gt7 on the base ps5 and the pro, but there's definitely a difference. Coming from the ps4 pro like you are, then you're in for a treat. Also, Sony is working on bringing pssr to psvr2, so it will only get better. Hopefully when they do bring pssr into the headset, then it will free up some of the rendering to bring ray tracing into the vr gameplay. But let's be honest, when you're in the heat of a race, you don't have time to actually slow down to admire it
Pro was worth it. I cannot go back to playing on a standard PS5.

I had zero intention of buying a pro. I told myself that if they could eliminate all or at least most of the ghosting then Id buy one. After Sony dropped the Pro with no mention of VR support and PD not making a noise about VR support I decided to accept the blur until PS6 and thats hoping VR is still supported. After seeing these reviews I just bit the bullet because its worth it for the extra immersion

What I do mot appreciate is the fact that I purchased my ps 5 and psvr2 about 4 months ago because I had no idea a
“Pro” model was coming out. I was told by the “experts” at Best Buy that it would be at least 2027 before any new models come out. Any updates for the psvr2 should have been brought to the ps 5 also.
you dont miss much, new reprojection mode has many artifacts, I prefer playing without it

I was dubious, at first, when I plugged in my new Pro, but after a day or so in my VR2 headset I can see definite improvement, and no, it's not placebo!
I wasn't intending on buying the pro, but my cat had other ideas when it crashed my ps5 off of my dresser in the bedroom. I figure if I had to spend 100+ dollars to fix the hdmi port, then I may as well get the pro. I still have a base ps5 in the living room. If you play strictly on a flat screen and don't have a 120hrz capable tv, then just stick to the base ps5. Both my tvs are 65" LG C2 oleds and have vrr, and there definitely is a difference. Anyone saying it doesn't are flat out lying or just haven't bought one and are throwing shade out of envy. Also, with vr2, the ghosting that some notice is mainly eliminated with the new reprojection system and it will get even better when Sony brings pssr into the headset. If you're an advid GT7 player in vr, is it worth the upgrade? Hell yes. Is it absolutely necessary? No. These are consols folks and are for entertainment. Food, water, and air are necessary. I'm retired, don't have a lot of bills, so I have the disposable money to throw at my entertainment. If you don't, that's cool because many dont. Especially in this economic climate. But don't shit on something because you don't
Yup, the various ports on the base PS5 were really dodgy and weak. I had a similar experience to you, and broke my USB port. I took it to a Mum and Dad repair shop, and they had a business solely repairing these ports and strengthening them. The day I visited there must have been five or six ready to be picked up. LOL.
@supercededman yeah, but this was a crash down to the floor of 4 ft, so I'm not blaming poor construction, but yes, the usb ports are not seated very well. For now, I'm only playing optimized games on the pro and the rest on the base ps5. If you play a game on the pro and then play the same game on the base, which I used to do depending on where I wanted to play at the time, that's when you really notice that the graphics on the base model look a bit blurry.

I would buy a PS5 Pro for GT7 in PSVR2 (which is hilarious, because I literally bought the PSVR 2 for GT7 alone)..... BUT Polyphony needs to put the cart before the horse and start taking the Daily Races configuration seriously.
I mean, good god -- they have such an amazing 'platform' to work with in GT7, and for most regular players at this stage, the Daily Races is the main thing the game has to offer.... personally, it's the only thing I really use on GT7 because I just want to race online in a streamlined manner. Duh. Yet PD put zero interest in even making what's there interesting or varied (night time, dynamic weather, cool cars config races) , let alone overhauling the thing which is long, long overdue. It beggars belief.
What they really need is giving us the ability to play multiplayer with bots, so I can do private matches with friends, having an AI grid, so we don't have to play with randoms, wait in lobbies etc- THAT is what is needed.
Does quality mode or performance mode make a difference in psvr2 with the new reprojection setting?
If you're sensitive to reprojection then absolutely it makes a difference. Ray tracing isn't in the vr gameplay, but the ghosting is practically gone now
The coping of non-pro users is real. Night and day difference on my 83” OLED. Have fun saying no difference after watching 1080p on a phone.
If it takes a TH-cam video to tell you how the ps5 pro is better, then it's not.

I got a PS5 pro and to be honest on the normal flat screen I don’t notice a massive difference. It’s a bit sharper and loads quicker but I wouldn’t say it’s massively noticeable and worth the upgrade. However GT7 in VR is noticeably better and if you’re a big GT7 VR player worth the upgrade in my opinion.

Very underwhelmed by PS5 vs PS5 Pro footage. PS4 vs PS5 GT7 footage was literally the entire reason I bought a PS5 in the first place, definitely notable, but the difference between the PS5 and Pro just looks so minor I would struggle to notice any difference. The ray tracing seems kind of cool for interior lighting effects, but that's about it, not something that will motivate me to buy a Pro.
Key word footage. You can't see the difference unless you have a 4k 120hz vrr almm tv. It's actually a noticeable improvement

@BleedForTheWorld it is entirely dependent on your monitor and the reviewer probably has a crap one. I play in 120 fidelity mode, I don't care about Ray traced interiors since I don't drive from that view. Look at digital foundrys review.
The second the pro was announced i knew i was trading my launch ps5 for it , had to put 250 out of pocket but man what a difference in vr2 the pro is just better everything looks/plays better
I bought the base PS5 on release, too, and figured 4 years use is about right, time for an upgrade. Apart from the graphical improvements, the extra 1 TB of storage space is very handy.
I have been using the PSVR2 with my launch PS5 and playing GT7 for the last couple weeks and having a lot of fun. I really want to see what the visual upgrade looks like through the headset when using a pro but I haven't bought one yet. Is it very noticeable or just a slight visual upgrade?

There will be many games optimised down the track, and devs at PD will most likely work with Sony (but we've seen eff-all from PD thus far 😊) ....

Yep. Can't believe more people haven't noticed. Pro framerate has issues, perhaps due to whatever the devs have chosen to do to get that absolutely minor fidelity increase.
@@sdilizio yeah it's the ray tracing which is really expensive even on the most modern hardware. Remember my words here because we're going to be seeing more of this when PS6 arrives. Still, everything else should be better if they improve CPU and GPU power because like the guy in the video said, there's no free lunch and the best thing to do is to improve these two components for a true generational leap in graphics and performance.
Anyone experience the issue discussed many times on reddit where after playing Horizon COTM, your headset is stuck with a pronounced vignette/binocular effect even outside of Horizon? The vignette option in Horizon is definitely broken, as the view narrowed quite a bit after the boat ride even with vignette turned off.

Comment: I got PS5, PS5 Pro and PSVR2 and Xbox Series X. I can tell, PS5 Pro experience is a lot better in real life and to naked eyes. The PSSR part still needs serious improvements tho. Not only at GT7 but also some other games are suffering from PSSR. I have 4K - 144 Hz TV so I have maximized the potential of PS5 Pro and I can clearly tell PS5 Pro has improvements. The question is, is it worth having it now? To me, since I am making videos on YT and a hardcore PS fan, it was inevitable not to buy it.
For guys who have doubts about buying or switching to PS5 Pro, a 4K - 120 Hz screen is a must. Otherwise, what you can see is only a smooth-ish 4K - 60 FPS experience.
Is there any chance that makes you able to film inside the PSVR2 lenses and make a comparison? Like you seem to be one of those very rare and yet objectively speaking technical enthusiasts that are very hard to find, so asking you is the way to go. Because on the original PS5 ive refunded the PSVR2 due to that device beeing unsharp and muddy, causing massive eye strain and headache after a few minutes already. So i would be very interested to get any kind of video or screenshot pictures directly comparing the picture quality out of the PSVR2 lenses, rather than recording software footage.
Because i cannot let go of GT7 VR experience. On PC there simply isnt a single well made, this much detailed, racing game. They are all the same, empty, no love ... so i would really like to see if im able to use a PSVR2 on a PS5 Pro, if i can get a sharp picture and not get an headache. Ive literally turned in the PSVR2 and got a Meta Quest 3 and now im sitting on racing games that simply arent good enough to be played lol.
Thanks for your kind words. I can't make a comparison like that because I no longer have the original PS5. However, I'm not sure the improvements would be visible by recording the screens inside of the headset, nor could I say of the PS5 Pro would solve your issues. Everyone's heads and eyes are different, so I truly believe everyone has a different experience with it.
If you are racing competitively you'll always want higher framerate.
If you had the financial choice of PS5 plus PSVR2, or just PS5 pro, I wwould pick first option. Currently, you can buy the basic PS5 plus VR headset for price of Pro, how mad is that? PSVR 2 is awesome in this game.
I have both, and agree with you. Yes, a difference in clarity, but being able to purchase a PS5 AND VR2 is the better option. Wait for the PS6.

Dude the trees and smoke effects lol. The newest cycle refresh is a SCAM. We didn't go through these compromises like this when it came to the PS4 Pro!! The tech is there but the hardware is still lacking!! Honestly, this makes me think that even though these features might/will come to the PlayStation 6, we'll still be having to deal with these artifacts. That's not good!
Just look at the ps5 specific games library. It's dismal compared to previous console generations. It just takes too long to make aaa games these days. Most of what they're doing is refreshing ps4 games and re-releasing old crap. Super disappointing over all. Don't get me wrong, gt7 in psvr2 is game changing. But really, how many crazy good vr games are there this gen or ps5 specifically. Pretty sad I gotta say.
These "differences" aren't worth $280. The cons outweigh the positives. I'll wait for PS6.

PS5 Pro is still a huge waste of money.
So is the $2.5k billet Precision turbo on my drift pig and the 2k I've spent on a sim setup but if I get fun out of them even for 100hr they basically pay for themselves. The extra 200 bucks is basically a bought coffee every day for a month.... a freakn month! Get a grip man. People are wasting money on ti variants of gpus with less performance uptick then thier base for the same cash.
