  • In this video, I go over some important considerations to keep in mind in terms of the height and stability when looking for and selecting a tripod for binoculars or a spotting scope.
    Recently I have gone through a spate of testing spotting scopes and high power binoculars for observation and astronomy which has highlighted a number of key points to me which I feel are worth keeping in mind if you are in the market for a tripod for a spotting scope or binocular.

    📒100% Honest, Real Reviews, Advice & Opinions📒
    I would like to make it completely clear that like all the reviews and advice that I give on the #BestBinoculars Reviews video channel and website, this is my honest and completely genuine opinion and I am in no way compensated to describe a binocular in a particular way or with a bias.
    In other words, if I think a binocular or a feature on it is great, I will say so. If I think it is rubbish or it is weak in certain areas, I will also point them out.
    Before writing and publishing any binocular review, I thoroughly research, test, and use the instrument in my office as well as out in the field. I also conduct comprehensive comparisons between the binocular under review with a number of benchmark binoculars in both good and bad light conditions.
    Whilst I make every effort not to, I do make the occasional error or am sometimes supplied with the wrong details. If you spot any mistakes, please feel free to contact me either in the comments section, via social media or on my site, so that I can rectify it.
    As always, I love getting feedback and your opinions. it is these that help me improve and continue to supply you with content, advice, and reviews that you actually want to watch.

    Hi Jason I would like to give you an idea for a future video. So it is about compact (pocket binoculars)
    You could talk about their advantages and disadvantages and how they compare to avrage binoculars and talk about the best configuration for compact binoculars. Also i have a question are 8x32 binoculars considered compact or medium sized?

    • @Bestbinocularsreviews
      @Bestbinocularsreviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for the good idea, I was actually thinking of doing something along those lines anyway so stay tuned. As for what makes a compact a compact, I don't think there is an official configuration, on BBR I classify compacts as having lenses of 28mm or less. But I have used some 30mm and even 32mm binoculars that can be almost as small depending on the design of the chassis. The Opticron Discovery WP PC 8x32 Binoculars are a good example: www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/Opticron8x32DiscoveryWPPC-159.htm

    Hi Jason
    Recently ,ive picked up birdwatching again , and i think i want to invest in a mid price-range spotting scope + tripod + the attachment to the scope itself . Usually , the observations i tend to do are in the ranges between 50 and 300 meters, mainly waders and seagulls by the seashore, but also some other birds , like hawks , eagles , ducks ....
    The observations will tend to be static , but sometimes i would take some longer walks to changes spots .
    I tend to do birdwatching beetwen early morning and midafternoon, but normally with the sun already up in the sky.
    I live in the northwest part of spain , so the water resistance of the scope is quite relevant to me . Also , this part of the country tends to have a cloudy weather and mid light conditions during great chunks of the year.
    I would like a 20-60x80 or something in those lines .
    Previously, ive used the Vanguard endeavor 82A , and honestly i would like a scope with a little bit more image quality, if possible.
    My total budget is around 800€ or less.
    Greetings and thanks in advance .

    • @Bestbinocularsreviews
      @Bestbinocularsreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lucas, thanks for the question - I thought the Endeavor 82A was very good for the money, but yes at the same time not perfect and I tested that scope MANY, many years ago now so hard for me to compare. Also Most of the scopes I have tested tend to be in a similar sort of price range to the Vanguard so whilst some may be better, the differences will not be massive. I do like the Hawke Endurance ED series , which they have updated since I tested the 20-60x85 model, but I feel deliver far more than their price tag suggests, so are worth considering for sure - take a look at my more recent review of the 15-45x60 Hawke Endurance ED , which should give you an idea as what to expect: www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/spotting-scopes/review.php?id=22&scope=Hawke-Endurance-ED-15-45x60 - In my experience, if you want to get a big jump in performance you need to go quite a way above your budget and get something like the Kowa TSN or new Maven spotting scopes. From there you need to really spend a lot and get a Zeiss or Swarovski - but they are on a whole other level in terms of price.

      Thanks for your help Jason , its much aprecciated .
      Ive been reading some of your spotting scopes reviews , and i have a doubt . Is there much difference between a 60/65 and an 80/85 scope in terms of the final image clarity and visual quality?
      Again , thank you very much

    • @Bestbinocularsreviews
      @Bestbinocularsreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lucas - sorry for the slow reply, I have been unwell. Anyway In terms of image quality and clarity - no there will be hardly any.. if any noticeable difference between equal quality 60/65mm and 80/85mm scopes - what will be noticeable is that the larger scopes will seem brighter, especially at the higher magnification settings and in low light. For normal use, I would not worry too much about this, but if you are digiscoping or if you often use your scope in very low light, then the extra size and weight may be worth if.

    Hi. I am thinking of getting a monopod with a ball head mount for my astronomy binocular weighing 1kg (vortex Dimondback 15x56). Do you think tripod would provide more stable view for star gazing? Or any important pro/con aspect to consider before taking the final decision? TIA

    • @cherylstewart8633
      @cherylstewart8633 ปีที่แล้ว

      jinky, I am not an expert, but I found a monopod almost useless as far as holding a scope or camera. You can just hold it against something and get as much stability. I gave mine away.

    Great video, good tips!
    I've just ordered a pair of Vortex Crossfire 12x50 (slightly cheaper than the Diamondback model) and the Vortex tripod adaptor.
    Does the Bresser Bx-5 tripod come
    with a quick release plate that can stay attached to the binoculars tripod adaptor?
    Cheers!

    • @Bestbinocularsreviews
      @Bestbinocularsreviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi - Yes for sure, the tripod head on both the camera and video versions of the Bresser Bx-5 tripods have a quick release plate. Just not that the video version that I have and use is quite long (good for long scopes and video cameras etc) - you can see it on the table in the last picture at the bottom of the page in my review: www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/blog/bresser-bx-5-pro-video-tripod-review-06/ - for binoculars it is certainly a nice steady base from which to work from.

      @@Bestbinocularsreviews Hello again! Another silly question: I'm looking for additional quick-release plates, but all I can find are 38mm width, whereas the Bresser plate is 50mm width (at its base). Am I missing something obvious or do Bresser only sell proprietary plates? Cheers!

    • @Bestbinocularsreviews
      @Bestbinocularsreviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I am not 100% sure, but yes the plate on the Bresser is 50mm wide - it is described as a video head and thus designed to take heavier gear, perhaps if you include that in your searches? Also have you tried looking at the Bresser website - they sell many products direct and so that may be the way to go?

    hello! can you tell me your opinion on the BEST spotting scope under 1000$. it is alot of money and there are so many choices to choose i dont know which one to pick i want to be sure

    • @Bestbinocularsreviews
      @Bestbinocularsreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi - thanks for the question - It is impossible to come right out and say what is BEST, as best can mean many things to different people and different uses. So what you need to find is the BEST scope for you - To help we need to start with how and what you plan on using the scope for (so from a fixed location like a balcony, porch, at the range or will take it out on long walks, traveling, etc), at what times of the day, in forests or jungles or wide-open space like fields, mountains or at the coast (ie in what light conditions) - what will you mostly be viewing, large slow-moving waterbirds at the coast or lake, small fast-moving birds in the trees, aeroplanes, ships at sea. Anyway, if you can give me as much information as you can I can help you further. Otherwise, take a look at scope section on BBR that goes through much of this: www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/spotting-scopes/

    Hello! I’m curious what you think of SVBONY’s range? Like SV48?

    • @Bestbinocularsreviews
      @Bestbinocularsreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The instruments that I have seen from are generally on the very cheap end of the market - there is nothing wrong with this, but you do need to be aware of the limitations or the sacrifices that need to be made in order to make a binocular or scope at such low prices. I do have an article and video on the main difference between cheap and more expensive binoculars that should help: www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/blog/expensive-vs-cheap-binoculars-04/ By the way, whilst I have not tested them, I do have the impression that SVBONY is a relatively good option at this end of the price scale

      Hi, they are quite diffferent - depends on what you want - but it boils down to size and weight versus magnification power and perhaps image quality
