Give us the Pippin revival!! A Great Comet pro shot would be amazing as well!! And probably a smoother watch than it was live!

Fun Home, Next to Normal, Great Comet, Gentlemans Guide, A strange Loop, Spring Awakening. Honestly if a show makes it to Broadway there should be a proshot. I like that there is an archive of all the shows for the sake of preserving the history. It would be nice if it were more accessible for non New Yorkers - Id pay for a streaming service to watch them online.

Spring awakening (both redentions) , RENT, the Color Purple (both renditions) and In the Heights were my favorite Broadway experiences

There is a pro shot of The Light in the Piazza. Live with Lincoln Center presented it on PBS with Victoria Clark, Katie Rose Clark, and Aaron Lazar. Well worth the watch when you can find it. I’m hoping at some point BroadwayHD will get it.

Something Rotten and Ride the Cyclone are two I'd love to see recorded. Assuming they aren't recorded.

Big agree on the whole not being shocked by the end of Hadestown - like there isn’t really any way to work around the source material there… BUT i did think the creative did such a great job with a story that *has* to end on sad note 👏🏻 we obviously don’t see many musicals that are true tragedies because it’s so difficult to do well and I think my appreciation for that is a part of what makes Hadestown so impressive to me

There is a pro shot of Piazza. It was filmed for Live at Lincoln center and was on PBS. Kelli O’Hara and Matt Morrison had left but Victoria Clark and the rest of the original cast are in it.

the performing arts library are only available for people who owns a New York public library card and (i believe) students who are studying in any performing arts school (in the world). And i believe you can only view any of the performance you requested ONCE in your life. I really wish I can use that library as a tourist traveling across the world to NYC.

I would love a Hadestown proshot, but I'm with you on the no surprise at the ending. However, I've known that myth a while.

I saw the last one with Carol. I'd like to see them do a Hello Dolly Live on TV with Dolly Parton. They were going to do a production with her years ago, where them moved it from NY to Nashville. It would be done all country. In fact, there is a TH-cam clip of what it would have been like from TV floating some where out on the web.

I think the shows that speak to typically underrepresented audiences on Broadway massively benefit from pro shots and getting their stories out to those audiences.
For me: Gentlemen’s Guide, La Cage, 9 to 5, ragtime, next to normal, Finding Neverland

Waitress was at the top of my list because I missed it on Broadway. I'd like the newest revival of Company for "Getting Married Today" alone. My real answer is any and all that we can get our hands on.

I've never heard the term, "Broadway Slime". I guess that's what the kids are calling it these days. ;) If difficult to get in to the Lincoln Center Library. You have to give them your first born and a blood sample before they will allow you to fill out the request form. I always had a problem viewing the shows there. I actually had better luck at the Film and TV museum in LA. For whatever reason, in NYC, they make it difficult. I'm not sure if it is the same now, but back in my day... they made it almost impossible.

Hard agree on Hadestown. I have so many complaints about how it's ALMOST great, but even the first time I saw it, I expected the ending because I know the myth. Also, it didn't make me sad because orpheus and eurydice were separated because of their own stupid neglect and/or miscommunications. (Like, I'm not going to feel bad for someone grieving a pet that died because they forgot to feed it?) Oh, and Wait for Me should have been the Act 1 finale, not Why We Build the Wall. I liked certain creative elements, and I really wanted it to add up to a show I loved and felt moved by but both times I saw it (on tour) I just wasn't.

re: Hadestown, have you ever rewatched a movie and found yourself wishing that it would end differently, and maybe this time the movie WILL change and it will end differently? that's kinda how I felt with Hadestown- i knew he would turn around, but every time i watched/listened i found myself wishing he wouldn't and wondering if maybe this time he might not. idk, i know it's dumb to think that about movies and plays that have been written and are in STONE but idk, i feel what i feel haha.

That's what everyone says about Hadestown! And for whatever reason my autism is just like: well, they told us this was how it's going to end, so. Lololol. I'm just too literal.

For 40 years I have had questions on pro shots. Why so few shows released on DVD? Who decides which shows get a DVD release ? I was told every show on Broadway has a pro shot then they tuck them away in a library somewhere. Is this true? What I think should be done is this: Every show on Broadway should have a pro shot day it opens.. Then each show has its run and the day the show closes on Broadway then the DVD of the show is released. Why can this not happen ? You need a video explaining all this. I want to see " Bridges of Madison County"...." Chorus Line"..."Funny Girl"...and more. Is not releasing on DVD more money for everyone ?

Just to bring this to people's attention, if you aren't aware already, there is a proshot of an amazing musical about disability called, The Little Big Things, coming out on NT at Home next Thursday (9th May) 7:000 BST!!!

Since you are in New York and you have access to the Film Theater and Tape Archive (was that the right order?), I do want to say that there is a archived version of the Deaf West revival of Spring Awakening in their archive catalogue. As you said, its not the same as a pro-shot and each day I wish that there was one, but you can at least watch a somewhat professionally filmed version of the musical that way. (if my research into the topic hasn't mislead me - I'm from Europe so my chances of ever seeing it are slim to none) If only to experience the best version of Touch Me to ever exist.

Didn't Live at Lincoln Center do a broadcast Light in the Piazza? I distinctly remember watching it on PBS in maybe 2006? I am one million percent in favor of this stance. As someone who didn't have the means to travel to NYC ever before my early 20's, I accessed Broadway through the Tony Awards, the Thanksgiving Day parade, and then later TH-cam bootlegs. I'm not ashamed to admit if there's a slime tutorial, I will watch it. I try to watch if the show has already closed, but sometimes it's just not feasible when there are so many shows opening in one season.
Anyway, my top pro shot requests would be Next to Normal (revival in the UK, hope it comes to Broadway!), Moulin Rouge just for the spectacle and sing-along-ability. I can just see myself and my friends having the best time watching it in the theatre. Hadestown with Jordan Fisher, and go back in time to catch the original cast of RENT. The movie was an ok attempt but nothing would compare to a pro shot of that production.

      1. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I think it is just to good to not be available to not put on a proshot.
      2. Mean Girls with Renee Rapp and Sabrina Carpenter (idk if she was good or not but if not of cady)
      3. The little Mermaid
      4. Mary Poppins
      5. The Lion King
      6. Beauty and the Beast
      7. Dear Evan Hansen with either Andrew Barth Feldman or jordan fisher
      8. Matilda
      9. New ITW Revival
      10. Beetlejuice (With Presley Ryan)
