Maybe he's judging it more subjectively. I don't quite agree with him for a lot of his rankings, but I may have done the same thing in this case. Yellow is objectively better than Red/Blue, but I'm on the fence as to rank it higher or lower. I liked the improvements but I didn't like the new sprites as much and I also didn't like that they removed the Old Man glitch (not only did MissingNo and the Old Man glitch fascinate me as a kid, but I also relied on it in order to get infinite Rare Candies and Master Balls lol MissingNo was one of my favourite Pokemon. But then in Yellow they got rid of the Old Man glitch). I remember having both Red and Yellow as a kid, but I got much more play time out of Red. Still, I'd at least place them in the same tier, and I'd probably even place Yellow above Red/Blue. It's very close. Despite my complaints, the changes and other improvements generally did add to enjoyability. As for FireRed and LeafGreen, I personally didn't like them as much but I didn't play them when they first came out (I was disappointed by Ruby/Sapphire so I lost interest in the series before ever playing FireRed/LeafGreen). I eventually played them like 20 years later and they're kind of nice but I'm still not sure I prefer them over gen 1. I mean objectively they are better (they're more or less the same game but with updated sprites/music/game mechanics, QoL improvements, and the whole new Sevii Islands arc) but gen 1 is in many ways still more enjoyable IMO. Maybe part of it is just the nostalgia, but I think the bigger reason is the fact that gen 1 is an 8-bit game while the remakes are not. This really changes the feel. I'm a big fan of 8-bit stuff and my theory is that the simplicity forces the player to use his imagination and memory a bit more, which makes the game feel livelier or something. I probably would place these in the tier below Red/Blue, despite their objective merit.
Yellow was a definitive edition released with the original Blue(Green in Japan) and Red editions. It was meant to mimic the show/series and it did a PHENOMENAL job at that. Just to clear the air

Eh not really, with Emerald easily being the worst version of Gen 3 when it comes to the main story, HGSS are very flawed games with very weak story, region and the worst level scaling in the series while Platinum is just Gen 3 but worse...
@@_Loonatiik that's because people who praise those games grew up with those and have tons of nostalgia to them so they stick to opinions they had over 10 to 20 years ago and ignore obvious flaws with them, while the third versions sound like they should be better by default so they just went with that idea, yet besides Platinum the actual changes with third versions are very mixed at best and with Emerald the changes overall are just filler and downgrades to the story...
You still can. Not officially but you can use cheat codes on an emulator to get to the islands/events if you rather do it officially than just use a code for them to pop up on the grass.

But firered and leafgreen are better than emerald since they have the vs seeker to rebattle the sevii island trainers and the stronger league. Only black and white come close since their battles run very fast too. Gen 2 is good but runs very slow like Gen 4 diamond and pearl such a slog lol they didn’t make too many gens that run fast like Gen 3 and 5. I just played black and white 3 genesis a crystal hack that’s basically black and white on gameboy color and that game was so slow to beat even with a short post game cause you basically had to be in the 60s-70s by the league to do well so training since it’s Gen 2 would take forever even with the rebattling breeders.

Black and white made me quit the franchise. How can u look at this and dont get the urge to instantly rip out ur eyeballs. Like they had peak graphics in gen 3 (60 fps too) and then downgraded in gen 4 in the fps departement, but the game atleast was beautiful and then b/w happens... like wtf even is this.

@@MontiausdemOff Fair enough, gameplay wise it is a great game. I'm not one to stress about graphics, it's never been a big deal for me. A lot of people like Sun/Moon and Usun/Umoon, but I find those games to be the worst of the mainline series games. Gen 2 isn't far behind.
Gold/crystal just good??? Man, that game was revolutionary at that time. All the improvements and mechanics they did on it, was like a "how to do pokémon " for all the predecessors. Whether you're young and you didn't played them when they were released, or simply you didn't complete them

Finally, it’s taken almost 10 years but i finally found someone who doesn’t just hate on X & Y, AND I LOVE IT!!! Those are no doubt my favourite Pokémon games and i’ll be so happy when they’re remade within the next 10 years (presumably and preferably) Love your rankings on these!
Gold, Crystal, and Emerald are the ones that give me the most memories. But if I have to pick 1 as my favourite, I'd say Crystal because it added so much that became the norm for all games going forward and I remember how cool that I found the new changes. Crystal was the first to add animated pokemon in battles, a battle tower, male/female character, a sign at the bottom of the screen telling you the name of the area that you've just entered, and it started more focus on sub quests meaning that there was more to do alongside following the main storyline.
Don’t forget that Crystal was the first game to add night and day where you could only catch certain Pokémon during certain times. That clock was sumn special.
Far from it. 2nd most bland game after Gen 2. I at least give Gen 1 some benefit of the doubt for being the 1st Gen, but come on, you can't fully excuse it. The Gens 3-5 games have a lot more happening, more story, more mechanics, more pokemon. They shit all over Gens 1 and 2. (and the following Gens)

Some questionable rankings to start with. Made me think you were going to get crazy. Other than some placements in the middle, I agree with your list. Unless you really like the old stat exp system and screwing around with the glitches and bad AI in Gen 1, they don't come anywhere close to touching the remakes in quality. I'd move Red/blue, Emerald, Platinum, Let's go, and XY down 1 tier. Fire red/leaf green and crystal up a tier. Platinum and Emerald are definitely top 5, but they aren't on the same level as HGSS and B2W2
Unpopular opinion, Ultra Sun & Moon improved on the originals so much that I’d say it’s easily my favorite Pokemon game, I own 6 copies of Ultra Moon & 1 copy of Ultra Sun LOL.

@@UnknownAlias21 SV was a bit fun in my opinion, and it had an interesting story combined with okay-ish minor gimmicks (ex. sandwiches). But that's the only notable positive things I can say, since for anything else, it's really bad at doing it. Legends is SO MUCH better by far in my opinion, although I wouldn't recommend it to someone starting the Pokémon franchise, since it's a more "unique" game than others.

Hey, u should try ultra sun and ultra moon Beside the wacky graphics, its stories and diffficulties are quite good compared to X/Y. Even with the new exp share mechanism and being overlevel most the time, i still sometimes struggled to fight win some trainers and boss battles
In my opinion BDSP are the worst remakes of all time. Here are some reasons why: 1. Faithfulness: Unlike other remakes, this game literally copy & pastes 90% of the game from diamond/pearl. Diamond/Pearl are games from 2006. You cannot copy almost everything from a game that more than 10 years old. (Remember this is a remake not a remaster!). Almost everything: All dialogs, the storyline, the art style, the national dex, old pokemon encounters and even the Poketch were copy & pasted to this game. Pokemon games have been improved in the past years and had many quality of life changes like 3D art style, overworld Pokemon encounters and reusable TMs. None of these changes were adapted to the game which is just sad. This game is too faithful and faithful sounds more like a excuse for lazyness. 2. Not-Platinum-Based: So they copy & pasted 90% from the old Sinnoh game but not based on Platinum? Diamond & Pearl had several weaknesses and Platinum fixed many of them and included many Quality of Life changes. Here are some Platinum improvements over Diamond/Pearl: It extends the storyline with additional content, new dialogs, new characters like Charon and a new map Distortion world (loved it). The rival was a bit too weak in Diamond/Pearl which was fixed in Plat. The Poketch has 2 Buttons. It has the battle frontier. And finally: the Sinnoh dex which was baaad in Dia/Pearl was fixed (too less fire pokemon, many sinnoh mons were post-game restricted and gym leaders used off-Type pokemon). ALL of these great changes where NOT included in BDSP. That makes BDSP a worse Sinnoh remake than Platinum which was released in 2008. 3. EXP-Share & Friendship-System: One of the most hated features is the EXP-Share system which often leads to WAY more exp than in the past games. In my opinion, the EXP-Share is not too bad. BUT diamond/pearl were not designed to be played with the new EXP-Share system. So if you include an EXP-Share system, you have to increase all levels of the pokemon (from opponent). But they didnt which makes the difficulty of this game too easy.Basically, my whole team was too oveleveled. And the friendship-system is the worst luck-based system i ever saw. A feature that increases the Critical hit-chance,removes paralysis, lets me dodge 100% accurate moves and even lets me survive moves with 1HP. WTF did you smoke gamefreak? And the worst is that, you cannot make any of these optional. Because of that many players who love to do a nuzzlock in Sinnoh, prefer the old DS games. 3. No Innovation: This game not only copy & pastes the majority of its content, it adds nothing new to the game. Lets review some good remakes: HeartGold/SoulSilver (HG/SS) were Gen 2 remakes and included some storyline from Crystal and added many new stuff like the pokeathlon, battle frontier (from sinnoh), gen 1 map/storyline, a complete national dex and pokewalker. HG/SS were not copy & pasted, but actually remake the game and add good new stuff. Also Alpha ruby&omega saphire (ORAS) have new changes like new art-style , new designs for Team magma/aqua, new Mega-forms, new Primal forms, changes to dialogs and storyline and complete national dex. BDSP on the other hand does not provide any kind of major change in the game which makes this game really boring. It does have a new Underground which has overworld pokemon, but that is nothing special for 2022 and the ramanas park was neat but nothing too exciting. 4. Underground/Super-Contest: The old underground allowed to create your own living room with furnitures and set traps to troll friends online. Both were removed for a statue system which is really boring. Collecting statues and the effects of the statues are really disapointing. The Super-Contest used to be a fun-mode where you had many different options and varities and had to have good reflexes to do the correct moves at the correct time. Now all you have to do is Press A at the correct time and use 1 attack. That makes this mode so boring and disapointing. I mean, was it really that hard to let the player press like 4 different buttons instead of just A?? 5. Art-Style: Many of us expected a modern review of Sinnoh in a 3D human like Art-style. But they decided to go for the Chibi-Art-Style. Everyone has different tastes but in my opinion the Chibi-Art-Style ruins many serious moments of the story line of this game, especially vs team galactic. It feels like all the emotions of the characters were removed. The reason why it was used in Diamond/Pearl was because of the limited hardware. In my opinion the Chibi-Art-Style waas the wrong decision and does suit a switch game at all. 6. Only Gen 4: BDSP has a national dex which includes the pokemon from Gen 1-4 which is basically the same as Diamond/Pearl. As a player who would have loved to see at least some Pokemon from Gen 5-8 in Sinnoh, i am very disapointed. At least some Pokemon post Gen4, or some new forms or at least Sylveon. Not even mega-forms were included in this game. The fact that 95% of the megas are from Gen1-4 and the underground being the perfect place to grind the mega-stones, makes this decision even more disapointing. 7. PVP: On of the worst things in this game is everything arround PVP. The worst disrespect a main series pokemon game can get, is when GameFreak calls that all the competitive tournaments will not take place in BDSP. Unlike Sword/Shield, you have no option to search for PVP matches which makes it way harder to find battles. But the worst thing is the grind for a PvP team: TMs are not reusable (WHY?!). For some important TMs like Earthquake, you have to grind for 80BP (WTF). Also you cannot catch pokemon with hidden abilities except those from poke radar. To get the hidden ability you have to grind for the ability patch for 200BP (WTF). By putting important PVP items behind such ridiculously high grind walls, it makes creating a PVP team disgusting. 8. Events: The events were also copy & pasted from Diamond/Pearl. Same Shaymin event, same Darkrai event. And other events are only accesible if you bought other main series pokemon game. And finally some garbage "events" which include some useless statues. Meanwhile, the 3 year old SW/SH getting better and innovative events like new PVP cups/tournaments and some legendary shinies. In my opinion the events in BDSP are disapointing. 9. Bugs/Glitches: Holy Moly! This game had so many bugs and glitches! You dont even need hacks, when the game itself has to many glitches. Many of them where completely broken. Many Pokemon clone glitches and item dupe glitches ruined the game. You could even get infinity money, create your own shinies (WTF), make your pokemon 6IV and let any Pokemon learn any move. I used to be in a discord for trading in BDSP and because of the glitches, the trade market was only about getting shiny 6IVs etc. Not to forget to mention the soft locks which made you restart the whole game. Usually every games has a few bugs. But this had too many and too many game breaking glitches. 10. Controls: The controls of this game feel weird and uncomfortable. Characters move in a grid which looks so weird during the storyline. The pokemon who follow me often block me in a bad way. The underground has many inivisible walls which make moving in some rooms horrible. And finally the control with the cycle are horrible. It feels so uncomfortable moving with the cycle, i sometimes even prefer walking. 11. Conclusion: It feels like GameFreak didnt want to do a Sinnoh remake but wanted to milk some money by releasing the highly demanded Sinnoh remake. The fact that, they hired a 3rd party company who never developed a major game, only supports this theory. Not forget to mention that, BDSP had a giant day one patch which was essential to enjoy the game. The fact that they released Legends Arceus also supports the theory, that they didnt care at all for this remake. Because of the release of Legends Arceus, the hiring of ILCA, the amount of glitches, the boring events, the exclusion of VGC, the 0 Innovation in this game and the fact that the majority of the game is copy & paste of a 2006 game (Dia/Pearl) which is worse than a 2008 Game (Platinum), makes this game the worst remake of all time in my opinion.
Damn, my firsts Pokémon games are in the very good.. that's nice. Also, Ultra Sun/Moon are kinda nice, farming legendary and shinies is pretty easy. Scenario is pretty meh but hey, at least it's not ugly looking
@@daledocker7131 ain’t no way. XY had all those chibi looking mf’s. The arm movement is identical they just made the characters more proportional and for a 3DS game the graphics for what was in it and it’s scale was great.

BW/B2W2 are by farrrr my favorite games from almost every aspect, except for when it comes to the actual Pokémon. I have the most favorite Pokémon from Gen 3.
Pokemon games these days are so formulaic and dull. They’ve put out maybe 3-4 unique styles of games since red and blue. Original region style games, pokemon stadium, arceus, and dungeon games. I don’t see the appeal of every new generation, it’s just power creep or silly thematic nonsense like mega evolutions or giagantamax or whatever it’s called. Uncreative and repetitive pokemon designs, the same story and linear outline just regurgitated.
HGSS is easily peak Pokémon, I’ve played all from gen 3 to 6 and sword and scarlet and tis still my opinion. New games are fun enough imo but don’t got the same charm as before.
Putting Red/Blue/Yellow in any catagory other than goated is literally a disrespect to the franchise...THEY STARTED EVERYTHING...without those games Pokemon wouldn't exist...
Stop living in nostalgia. There are so many issues with the Gen 1 games, Kadabra/Alakazam and Mewtwo are so broken that it isn't funny. There are glitches galore, the type chart is bugged, there is barely any story, there is no post game, some types don't even have any decent damaging moves and those are only some of the many issues. Gens 3-5 have much better story, more mechanics and side activities, post game activities and even post game quests/story. By Gen 3 they had fixed many of the glaring issues that the type chart and move pools had in Gens 1 and 2. In Gen 4 they brought in the Physical/Special split which saw each type get its own spread of physical and special moves, rather than types determining whether a move was physical or special. The evil team of Gens 3-5 weren't just "We're going to steal pokemon and sell them."
Gen 5 came out when I was 12. I used to hate it back then and did for the longest time. Just did another play through of black. Black/White 1 and 2 aren’t S tier to me, but I don’t know why I hated Gen 5, it’s solid.

Bruh how is yellow not as good as red and blue? It had updated sprites, actually had color, and you could get all the starters in that game.

The amount of time I've spent and still spending on Emerald is insane. I've played it so many times as it's my favorite pokemon game.
Emerald is an all time great Pokémon game
Gold, Crystal, and Emerald are the ones that give me the most memories. But if I have to pick 1 as my favourite, I'd say Crystal because it added so much that became the norm for all games going forward and I remember how cool that I found the new changes. Crystal was the first to add animated pokemon in battles, a battle tower, male/female character, a sign at the bottom of the screen telling you the name of the area that you've just entered, and it started more focus on sub quests meaning that there was more to do alongside following the main storyline.

Some questionable rankings to start with. Made me think you were going to get crazy. Other than some placements in the middle, I agree with your list. Unless you really like the old stat exp system and screwing around with the glitches and bad AI in Gen 1, they don't come anywhere close to touching the remakes in quality. I'd move Red/blue, Emerald, Platinum, Let's go, and XY down 1 tier. Fire red/leaf green and crystal up a tier. Platinum and Emerald are definitely top 5, but they aren't on the same level as HGSS and B2W2

In my opinion BDSP are the worst remakes of all time. Here are some reasons why:
1. Faithfulness: Unlike other remakes, this game literally copy & pastes 90% of the game from diamond/pearl. Diamond/Pearl are games from 2006. You cannot copy almost everything from a game that more than 10 years old. (Remember this is a remake not a remaster!). Almost everything: All dialogs, the storyline, the art style, the national dex, old pokemon encounters and even the Poketch were copy & pasted to this game. Pokemon games have been improved in the past years and had many quality of life changes like 3D art style, overworld Pokemon encounters and reusable TMs. None of these changes were
adapted to the game which is just sad. This game is too faithful and faithful sounds more like a excuse for lazyness.
2. Not-Platinum-Based: So they copy & pasted 90% from the old Sinnoh game but not based on Platinum? Diamond & Pearl had several weaknesses and Platinum fixed many of them and included many Quality of Life changes. Here are some Platinum improvements over Diamond/Pearl: It extends the storyline with additional content, new dialogs, new characters like Charon and a new map Distortion world (loved it). The rival was a bit too weak in Diamond/Pearl which was fixed in Plat. The Poketch has 2 Buttons. It has the battle frontier. And finally: the Sinnoh dex which was baaad in Dia/Pearl was fixed (too less fire pokemon, many sinnoh mons were post-game restricted and gym leaders used off-Type pokemon). ALL of these great changes where NOT included in BDSP. That makes BDSP a worse Sinnoh remake than Platinum which was released in 2008.
3. EXP-Share & Friendship-System: One of the most hated features is the EXP-Share system which often leads to WAY more exp than in the past games. In my opinion, the EXP-Share is not too bad. BUT diamond/pearl were not designed to be played with the new EXP-Share system. So if you include an EXP-Share system, you have to increase all levels of the pokemon (from opponent). But they didnt which makes the difficulty of this game too easy.Basically, my whole team was too oveleveled. And the friendship-system is the worst luck-based system i ever saw. A feature that increases the Critical hit-chance,removes paralysis, lets me dodge 100% accurate moves and even lets me survive moves with 1HP. WTF did you smoke gamefreak? And the worst is that, you cannot make any of these optional. Because of that many players who love to do a nuzzlock in Sinnoh, prefer the old DS games.
3. No Innovation: This game not only copy & pastes the majority of its content, it adds nothing new to the game. Lets review some good remakes: HeartGold/SoulSilver (HG/SS) were Gen 2 remakes and included some storyline from Crystal and added many new stuff like the pokeathlon, battle frontier (from sinnoh), gen 1 map/storyline, a complete national dex and pokewalker. HG/SS were not copy & pasted, but actually remake the game and add good new stuff. Also Alpha ruby&omega saphire (ORAS) have new changes like new art-style , new designs for Team magma/aqua, new Mega-forms, new Primal forms, changes to dialogs and storyline and complete national dex. BDSP on the other hand does not provide any kind of major change in the game which makes this game really boring. It does have a new Underground which has overworld pokemon, but that is nothing special for 2022 and the ramanas park was neat but nothing too exciting.
4. Underground/Super-Contest: The old underground allowed to create your own living room with furnitures and set traps to troll friends online. Both were removed for a statue system which is really boring. Collecting statues and the effects of the statues are really disapointing. The Super-Contest used to be a fun-mode where you had many different options and varities and had to have good reflexes to do
the correct moves at the correct time. Now all you have to do is Press A at the correct time and use 1 attack. That makes this mode so boring and disapointing. I mean, was it really that hard to let the player press like 4 different buttons instead of just A??
5. Art-Style: Many of us expected a modern review of Sinnoh in a 3D human like Art-style. But they decided to go for the Chibi-Art-Style. Everyone has different tastes but in my opinion the Chibi-Art-Style ruins many serious moments of the story line of this game, especially vs team galactic. It feels like all the emotions of the characters were removed. The reason why it was used in Diamond/Pearl was because of the limited hardware. In my opinion the Chibi-Art-Style waas the wrong decision and does suit a switch game at all.
6. Only Gen 4: BDSP has a national dex which includes the pokemon from Gen 1-4 which is basically the same as Diamond/Pearl. As a player who would have loved to see at least some Pokemon from Gen 5-8 in Sinnoh, i am very disapointed. At least some Pokemon post Gen4, or some new forms or at least Sylveon. Not even mega-forms were included in this game. The fact that 95% of the megas are from Gen1-4 and the underground being the perfect place to grind the mega-stones, makes this decision even more disapointing.
7. PVP: On of the worst things in this game is everything arround PVP. The worst disrespect a main series pokemon game can get, is when GameFreak calls that all the competitive tournaments will not take place in BDSP. Unlike Sword/Shield, you have no option to search for PVP matches which makes it way harder to find battles. But the worst thing is the grind for a PvP team: TMs are not reusable (WHY?!). For some important TMs like Earthquake, you have to grind for 80BP (WTF). Also you cannot catch pokemon with hidden abilities except those from poke radar. To get the hidden ability you have to grind for the ability patch for 200BP (WTF). By putting important PVP items behind such ridiculously high grind walls, it makes creating a PVP team disgusting.
8. Events: The events were also copy & pasted from Diamond/Pearl. Same Shaymin event, same Darkrai event. And other events are only accesible if you bought other main series pokemon game. And finally some garbage "events" which include some useless statues. Meanwhile, the 3 year old SW/SH getting better and innovative events like new PVP cups/tournaments and some legendary shinies. In my opinion the events in BDSP are disapointing.
9. Bugs/Glitches: Holy Moly! This game had so many bugs and glitches! You dont even need hacks, when the game itself has to many glitches. Many of them where completely broken. Many Pokemon clone glitches and item dupe glitches ruined the game. You could even get infinity money, create your own shinies (WTF), make your pokemon 6IV and let any Pokemon learn any move. I used to be in a discord for trading in BDSP and because of the glitches, the trade market was only about getting shiny 6IVs etc.
Not to forget to mention the soft locks which made you restart the whole game. Usually every games has a few bugs. But this had too many and too many game breaking glitches.
10. Controls: The controls of this game feel weird and uncomfortable. Characters move in a grid which looks so weird during the storyline. The pokemon who follow me often block me in a bad way. The underground has many inivisible walls which make moving in some rooms horrible. And finally the control with the cycle are horrible. It feels so uncomfortable moving with the cycle, i sometimes even prefer walking.
11. Conclusion: It feels like GameFreak didnt want to do a Sinnoh remake but wanted to milk some money by releasing the highly demanded Sinnoh remake. The fact that, they hired a 3rd party company who never developed a major game, only supports this theory. Not forget to mention that, BDSP had a giant day one patch which was essential to enjoy the game. The fact that they released Legends Arceus also supports the theory, that they didnt care at all for this remake. Because of the release of Legends Arceus, the hiring of ILCA, the amount of glitches, the boring events, the exclusion of VGC, the 0 Innovation in this game and the fact that the majority of the game is copy & paste of a 2006 game (Dia/Pearl) which is worse than a 2008 Game (Platinum), makes this game the worst remake of all time in my opinion.

Pokemon games these days are so formulaic and dull. They’ve put out maybe 3-4 unique styles of games since red and blue.
Original region style games, pokemon stadium, arceus, and dungeon games. Stop living in nostalgia. There are so many issues with the Gen 1 games, Kadabra/Alakazam and Mewtwo are so broken that it isn't funny. There are glitches galore, the type chart is bugged, there is barely any story, there is no post game, some types don't even have any decent damaging moves and those are only some of the many issues.
Gens 3-5 have much better story, more mechanics and side activities, post game activities and even post game quests/story. By Gen 3 they had fixed many of the glaring issues that the type chart and move pools had in Gens 1 and 2. In Gen 4 they brought in the Physical/Special split which saw each type get its own spread of physical and special moves, rather than types determining whether a move was physical or special. The evil team of Gens 3-5 weren't just "We're going to steal pokemon and sell them."
ORAS is the goat in my opinion

Gen 5 came out when I was 12. I used to hate it back then and did for the longest time. Just did another play through of black. Black/White 1 and 2 aren’t S tier to me, but I don’t know why I hated Gen 5, it’s solid.
I was the exact same! The games came out when I was like 8/9 and I couldn’t stand them for years, replayed them and absolutely LOVED them
