We've been to SPA !! Another huge bucketlist thing for me has been done ! Best lap of the week end : th-cam.com/video/1LHcOoZ5E10/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=JdR Compilation of the week end's best bits coming soon !
Imagine having to drive like that back in the day/night with no street lighting like today, doing 200mph plus on the Mulsane straight then it starts raining !!! Incredible achievement.
Wouldn’t it be easier? Always find driving in pitch black conditions with brights easier than driving in the dark with a bunch of dazzling lights around me.
One of my grandest childhood memories was going to the races with my Dad. I fell in love with Lola T70s. And I can remember thinking even as a young chap That here we are at the races, with our cooler and our snacks and sandwiches and the noise and the crowd thinking we're having such a good time....but the people really having a blast were all in the driver's seat.
This is actually amazing. You can really hear this monster of a car letting loose on the Mulsanne. Really wish they didn't use the chicane but safety is important
Awesome video of an awesome classic! In my opinion nothing tops the visceral sounds of the Ford GT! So glad I was able to see some of them on track in person at The Mitty at Road Atlanta a handful of years ago!
What's missing here are the Alpine A210 and Austin Healy Sprites that runs about 60 mph/100 km/h slower than the GT40s. Imagine what it was like back then for the top-tiered sports cars having to deal with those moving obstacles at night.
Great ! We're still waiting to know if the car will be selected to participate to this year's edition.. If it is I'd be pleased to see you in our paddock :)

there are a select few cars that make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up but this car is not one of them no no no, its far beyond that, this car is a god damn feat of engineering made from spite because some Italian bad mouthed a American and i absolutely love it
Getting the old layout would certainly be thrilling ! But I truly believe those chicanes adds a much needed safety ! We're running the original 66 fully filled brakes !
@@jdr8393 incredible. I can imagine it would take some time to adjust to the power the brakes have or might not have, and deal with overheating issues. Right about the added safety! You are driving the dream! Thank you!
@@Boterberg it does take some time to get used to the power they don't have ! It really is slowing down more than braking haha ! Thank you for the support, I am a very lucky guy indeed !

Welp, there's a bucket list item I didn't know existed before today - I would dearly love to ride shotgun in one of these cars for a night race. Even for a couple laps. This is just mind-blowing.
Hi JdR, thanks for this cool video. Do you know where I can find the copyright owner of this video? Our filmmaking studio are searching for racing recording like this and we are seeking business chance for it.
Amazing car, fantastic sound, a great racetrack and then you got a driver who's driving this car like it's a SUV to go to the mall with family and kids... What a sick joke is that!

That's normal at Spa and the Nordschleife even today.
@AintNoWay Yup. In all the classic races.
Would have been driving much much faster than this guy
@@Brumiani without chicanes, well i think can doing over 230 or 240 mph maybe even reaching 250 mph with some draft
seeing the classics still racing puts a smile on my face
in 1966 it must be dark as hell with no road lights etc. I wonder how it was doing 200mph without seeing anything on the road.
You only needed to see the distance signs and other car's lights.
They were literally "going in blind" 😉
There were no chicanes in the back straight it was much longer.
Wouldn’t it be easier? Always find driving in pitch black conditions with brights easier than driving in the dark with a bunch of dazzling lights around me.

Exactly... Especially, after a corner while gaining speed, hearing the "whoooop" of the roaring V-8 is priceless.
Love that they put the cameras on the cars. Shows us what it's like to be a Le Mans driver in the race.

Similar to what LMH has to deal with when there's a GTE in front.

Gorgeous sounding engines !!!
Guy driving the Corvette had some balls from the way he was approaching the corners lol.
That's how racing should be. Not pussy driving like this.
