@@CovingsworthHey Cov, can I share an amazing story with you? One day I was driving home, when all of a sudden the Lord came to me in spirit. I felt very close to Him. I knew if I asked him to play any song on the radio he would, I guess to bless my faith. So I said "ok, Lord play "Come as you are by Nirvana". I turned on the radio and the song started playing right there on the spot, perfectly… I started getting flooded with chills like a waterfall, crying, and trembling. He stayed with me for 10 minutes in my driveway. until I got outta the car. A couple months after that I started getting amazing prayers answered way more often, because it helped me quit doubting when I pray and I was lined up with biblical instructions. It's 6 years later and I still get answered prayers in Jesus name.
i think you nailed something every skyrim retexture mod i've seen failed miserably: retaining the "skyrim" look. you even mentioned you did that on purpose, and they look so good! not only as skyrim houses, but also as high fantasy medieval-nordic inspired houses.
As a Skyrim mod developer i want to let you know that I really loved this video. You basically had the same line of thought that we mod developers have as well when making environment-related mods. I did really appreciate your attention to detail and the fact that you didn't overdo anything. It's nice to see that the Skyrim community is as lively and full of talented people as ever. You gained a new subscriber, you deserve it. :)
Dude. I have been trying to figure out a way to rip Skyrim towns into Blender for 3 years, your RealityCapture method looks like it is FINALLY what I have been searching for. I cannot believe how much simpler it is than my current method, you truly have no idea how excited I am to try it myself. Thank you so much for putting the time in to make this video.
@@daniel_8 While this is true for the houses themselves, the 3d model of the entirety of Riverwood including houses and props can serve as a very good reference for scale and house placements. I don't think there's a single 3d model that would encompass the entirety of Riverwood including all of the props and everything.
@@jublin69 true, but scene data does store models locations and everything together. I think there's probably a way to extract scene data. But I could be wrong, usually such popular games that are timeless classics have an open tool to extract data from the game.
@@daniel_8 there is. There is a script that scans the data of x,y,z placement from xedit and then exports that data in a text doc. From there there is a blender script thats linked to where you would have the archived 3D models this script then imports all those models in the same positions using niftools
Proud of you Cov. Not only for the amazing 3D work but also the insanely professional editing, scriptwriting, etc. The amount of work you put in to provide entertaining and informative content is wild! Keep it up legend.
Thank you for making and sharing. I finally have an idea of the work, the software, time required and the general approach needed for modding the 3d world space of Skyrim (and other games). Without you making and publishing this vid, my understanding of the process was nothing more than a vague idea. So worth watching.
Very impressive and inspiring! Appreciated when you mentioned how some parts were took even you up to three days to perfect. Helps give realistic expectations, and actually was encouraging to hear.
@@Covingsworth im trying to start my own patreon, have u tried using geometry nodes to make these buildings procedural in geonodes? i think ian hubert did something similar a while back but i wanted to try it, would u mind if i use this to test it out? obv wouldnt share it or anything and i could send it to you if i get it workin
Bro u literally made an amazing eye pleasing animation the music was good too I felt like I was there in Skyrim, I wish I could see this era once like these towns and nature.
I just started playing skyrim for the first time a few weeks ago and have been having a blast exploring but I must say, riverwood is one of my favorite places to pass through
This is beautiful. Your method also creates an architectural style for each place. In the cities this can be used to contrast wealthier areas as they can afford to import materials while everyone else must use the local materials.
Thank you so much for this tutorial ! I was trying to set dress an entire town and, discovering Blender, I was having a hard time finding an efficient methodology. This tutorial is a tremendous help !!
Very interesting. I really got some great laughs with some of the comments you made at the end of some sentences. The way you deliver one or two words was great....thanks for the laughs!
this is amazing! the only thing missing is just a little extra movement in the assests, such as swinging signs or a little bit of branch swaying. overall you should be very proud of what you've got already.
Finally someone who really remastered a Skyrim location without changing it too much or even almost completely. YT suggested many of those Whiterun/Solitude/whatever in Unreal Engine 5 videos and, yes, they look awesome, but most of the time they don't look like Skyrim anymore. Yours is not just close enough, it's spot on. I really wish the whole game would be remastered with such high quality graphics... that would be awesome!
the biggest awe for me in this video was you mentioning about realitycapture. The program I always was searching for. Saves time for a modelling noob. Great for Skyrim modding I guess :)
Your hardwork, OMG👏👏 With dynamics, effects sim and crowd - the creators behind the game would have added this in the next skyrim, as a token of appreciation I think....
This is exactly how i remember it looked like the first time i played skyrim! now i have 1200 something mods and this game has become a part of me, thanks for remastering it!
its perfect you went the modular route, especially since skyrim was made using the very same method! and im definitely stealing that tip about making thatch roofs for my project, amazing work!
This is totally good stuff!! Just learning about the whole process is so satisfying and seeing the end results that makes you wonder how much time and effort it must takes for actual big scenes...Awesome
I often do this, on my tutorial channel, and have been doing it for years. I'll walk around in a game and, if something catches my eye, I take multiple screenshots of it then proceed to re-create it in Blender. Sometimes I'll even make tutorials showing people how to do said thing. I always use modular builds because Bethesda always uses that method and they have inspired me, as a 3D model artist, for the past 22 years.
Another awesome video, an amazing tutorial and detailed explanation, this really inspired me to try something similar! Thanks for putting in the time and effort, you're amazing!!
one great attention to detail (i'm just being pickyy) that i'd like to see is worn out paths or spots, not just in the wilderness, but on like wooden steps up to a door, or maybe even railings and handles and stuff. that would be cool. just in places with high traffic or continuous use. your work is s-tier epic though man!
It's one of those instances when a creator uploads occasionally but the content is totally worth it.
Thank you 🙂
@@CovingsworthNo, thank you for this video 🙂👍
You just had an epiphany that the journey is actually always the reward.
+1 wisdom

also sorry to ask but i looked at your patreon, i thought the kit was free? or is it just for patrons? (not complaining, it is fair)

That organic camera movement is just top notch
