    Excellent Video.
    Very thorough!
Thanks for giving us everything we needed, including torque specs and the torque down sequence illustrations you made.
Could not be better, and we appreciate you.

Great video! Can a blown valve cover gasket reduce performance especially acceleration and power?

Excellent video TRQ. Best I have come across and with info like torque specs even. Well done mate. In 2019 I had a well-known shop and a pretty good mechanic replace both left and right valve covers with gaskets. However, as of 2022 up until now in 2024 I have had a constant oil leak coming from the front right side valve cover making a mess on the ground below and it even dripped down onto my alternator which fried 2 of them both the original one and the replacement alt. Upon replacing the 2nd alt with another 3rd new alternator I found that the alternator had set fire under the hood as the oil from this front valve cover had been dripping down onto my newest 3rd alternator. Luckily, I had a full jug of anti-freeze in the trunk and dowsed out the fire with no major issues as a result. It was then that I realized that the right hand valve cover hadn't probably received the additional RTV gasket silicone or perhaps not enough of the RTV needed which you showed being applied to the 2 front corners (seen at 10:22 in your video) which you show both corners being filled up properly with the RTV sealant and sealed the gap there. I'm sure that is where the oil was leaking from. One last mention here is the use of super gluing the gasket to the valve cover prior to putting the cover into place. I would like to thank you for that tip posted here by '@SocketDaddy'. Like they say, "If you want the job done right... do it yourself". Lesson learned.

At 12min 29s, how you able to access #8 so easily? I have a 2005 G35 sedan. I could only remove #8 using a universal joint adaptor but now concern how I can put it back with the right torque.

The passenger side is crazy however the driver side is a little easier

I once did that job but had to remove the rtv that some shade tree mechanic put on the spark plug tubes by pressing a trash bag over it to catch the residue as I scraped it off. The tubes on the passenger side were all full of oil and had to be sucked out because the job was originally a tune up. Surpringly the car was running good in this state. It even had a catch can already on it but apparently it was already too late at the time but its all good now with new valve covers and pcv hoses.

Great detail and video shots. Best I've seen. Two questions: 1. How do you get the new gasket to stay in the valve cover groove when installing it back on - I've seen fishing line or 6 dabs of gasket maker in the 4 groove corners and 2 in the middle to keep it from falling out when you turn it over to install. 2. Do you let the gasket sealer in the 4 front corners cure for any period prior to putting the valve cover back on? Thank you!

What do u breaking one of the screws in the valve cover @ 19lbs torque? If I went 26 would have cracked the hard plastic cover.

Do you have to keep the throttle body plugged up to keep from having to go through a re learning cycle?

This is a bad job ! The mechanic guy should replace both sides . The vehicle owner gonna pay twice for the same job
