21:35 funny enough thats why i am here. I wanted to be reminded of how the fluttery heart drops looked in this game, tried looking it up on youtube but no luck, saw this tas and thought why not
so basically for the final fight, the game doesn't really check if Ganon should turn to silver or whatever so you are able to use attacks to damage Ganon if you attack JUST as he teleports away. Why? Probably an oversight. but using this trick you can beat Ganon without any arrows. You still need some magic and fire rod/Lamp though. Bonus info: If you light the right torch by keeping the torches from going out, you can prevent the right torch from ever going out. i forget how you do it but if you watch the TAS you'll get a basic idea of how.
Blind is the easiest fight in the game and is also easily matched by real time runners. Mothula is a bit trickier to execute this strat though, it took me quite a while to get right. Thanks!
I'm not even that far into the video, but just the way the room with the floor tiles was pulled off. They didn't have to do all that. But it was very entertaining
I just got back into the game as an adult (30 years old to be exact), and I used to CRUSH this game as a 10 year old thinking “wow this is so easy I love this game!” Flash forward 20 years and I decide to speed run it……I didn’t even make it to the boomerang before I got my head caved in X’D
After you got the Pegasus Boots, you can float by turboing the A button while moving. While you have to release the button for one frame only, you can actually press it for up to 29 frames. This trick has been mastered by many real time runners, and it can be seen in the top runs
After you've obtained the Pegasus Boots, you can hover over voids by turboing the A button. As long as you don't hold A for more than 30 frames, which then starts the dash and you'll fall down, you can release A and repress it and you'll move forward every time the button is released. The technique is also used in regular speedruns as well as in randomizer, it's a bit tricky to learn though, but some have mastered it. The spinning is just when I'm doing the wobbling technique. When going left or up, I can increase the movement from a 2-1-2-1 speed cycle to 2-2-2-2 by holding left and press right every second frame.
After the Pegasus Boots have been collected, you can spam the A button in order to hover. In the this TAS, I just use turbo for it. Though real time runners have also mastered this technique via button mashing. While you can hold down the A button for up to 29 frames, you may only release the button for one frame, or you will fall.
Was one of the conditions not to grab all the heart pieces? This was an insanely awesome run. I haven't visited the TAS site yet but love watching the vids
The conditions is to just beat the game without any major glitches such as exploration glitch and really overpowered shit (see th-cam.com/video/YLSBPKLvgUs/w-d-xo.html as an example of all items/heart pieces collected with major glitches)
@@xxEzraBxxx I did enjoy watching the glitched version. Interesting how games can be manipulated without cheats. In the middle of the video I thought the game was broken. Thanks for sharing
Why does the end declare the number of games? Was I not paying attention or did they not die? Or is the game cut to appear as though there are no deaths when there were?
Is this a human or AI player? I don't quite understand why you don't gather hearts to keep your energy up. Why fight a boss on 1 heart with the alert beeping? It makes no sense to me. 🤷
I'm a human. I did this by playing the game frame by frame while using save states, which is what a Tool-Assisted Speedrun is. The goal is to find out how fast a game can be beaten in theory when every input press is perfected. The run is not meant to show any gameplay skill, as that's not the type of skill needed to make a TAS. That should hopefully explain your second question as well. Though I can gladly go into more detail on how this was made, if you are curious! =)
After you obtain the Pegasus Boots, you can hover by pressing A every second frame. It's done by real time runners as well, which you can hold down for A up to 29 frames, you can only release it for one frame max. While it does sound quite difficult, a lot of runners can actually do it with consistently.
This is the US 1.0. Back when I started this run, it wasn't really known that the JP 1.0 version was superior. One of many reasons this run is very outdated.
Remember when youtube wasn’t a thing and this would take weeks to complete because you would be going backwards and forwards across the map looking for items 😅
Just some nice hovering :) It's done by starting to charge the Pegasus Boots, release A for a single frame only to move forwar andd then press A again to re-charge. For the TAS, I only press A for a single frame, but it can be held down for up to 29 frames, though you musn't release it for more than a frame. Several speedrunners have learned to master this and use it in runs as well.
Yes, several cases. If there is a new big glitch found in a game, it's much quicker to make a real time run of it than an optimised TAS. For many years, there was an outdated TAS of Majora's Mask due to new discoveries, as an example. Sometimes a real time run can also appear faster due to different timing methods and rules.
I just can't enjoy this game after I played Crusader of Centy in my teenage years. Loved that one. And the Story of Thor, a Zelda for older players. Same concept but much more polished. Here, the music is so daft, bland and the design is too childish.
The Legend of Zelda: A moonwalk to the past.

I like the way he does random stuff like running backwards or like doing the music beat rhythm. Really funny, but awesomely enjoyable.
Thank you! :)
actually that running backwards thing gives a bit more speed
